Peace on Earth: Jesus and the Message of Love
A Plea for Peace: Are there any Christian Clerics who Will Speak
Against the Desecration and Occupation of Mosques by the U.S. in
Iraq & against the Destruction of 130 Mosques by
Israel?
By Buut Shikan [Idol Breaker].
December 21 was a sad day in America: The Iraqi
mujahideen
struck at the U.S. military
base in Mosul and killed 14 American troops and 4 Haliburton-related
contractors. Four Iraqi mercenaries were also killed. Another 51 U.S.
troops were wounded, many of them seriously,
along with 20 other contractors, some of them Americans..
Our hearts go out to the families of the dead and the wounded who are
mourning and grieving just 3 days before Christmas eve. War is indeed
cruel.
This is a time to think of the possibilities for peace. Jesus, peace be
on him, symbolizes peace and love for most Christians. For us as Muslims,
peace and love are important but peace and love cannot be nationalized.
We want peace and love for ALL peoples.
Only a couple of months back, during the holy month of
Ramadan,
the U.S. launched its military juggernaut into the city of Fallujah
in Iraq. In a month when even secularized Muslims pray and fast and
try to regain their spirituality, Fallujah, the city of mosques, was
turned into a living hell by the most powerful military force on the
planet earth.
During the month of Ramadan, the people of Fallujah were not only
disturbed in their prayer and fasting, half of the population had
to leave home and hearth and find refuge in Camps, often under the
open sky, outside the city.
The American forces pulverized the city, attacking it home by home and
mosque by mosque. In some instances, U.S. forces claimed that they
received fire from mosques and had to counterattack. This may have
been true in a couple of cases, but then the U.S. went on to destroy
large numbers of mosques and to desecrate the others.
Some of the mosques were turned into rest areas for heavily armed
American troops.
[See photo of one such mosque with troops lounging in the prayer area
on our web site
www.newtrendmag.org.
One U.S. entry into a mosque, videotaped by an
NBC
photographer, involved U.S. marines murdering wounded Iraqis lying in
the mosque. The center piece of this video was a marine who walked up
to an old Iraqi, half-dead, unarmed, lying in a corner of the mosque.
The marine walked up to him, uttered an expletive and shot him dead
point blank.
The offensive in Fallujah continued towards the end of Ramadan into
the HOLIEST NIGHT OF PRAYER, LAILATUL QADR, the Night of Power, when the
Qur'an
was revealed. This is the night when most Muslims pray for most of
the night. In Fallujah, the U.S. military kept shooting and killing
all that night.
Of course the people of Fallujah had NO
EID
Those who left are still camped outside the city, while countless
others left behind are feared dead on starving.
IS THERE ANY CHRISTIAN PREACHER OR CLERIC WHO HAS PROTESTED THE
DESECRATION OF HOLY RAMADAN or the desecration and destruction of
numerous mosques?
[The 131 mosques ISRAEL has destroyed in occupied
Palestine
are seldom, if ever, even mentioned in the U.S.
media.]
Till now the mujahideen in Iraq were seen as a force which could be
destroyed. The assault on Fallujah was supposed to break the back of
the resistance. Instead, not only has the resistance survived, it has
become stronger. If we hit them, they can hit us in return.
America's pain at the attack in Mosul is multiplied by its occurrence
just before Christmas. It brings to us the reality of savagery near a
time of holiness and peace.
We call on Christian preachers and clerics to urge a halt to war
during times of holy days.
Even when war is justified, there should be a cease fire during holy days.
The Qur'an teaches about entire months in which there should be no warfare
even when it is justified.
Those who love Jesus, peace be on him, can learn from the Qur'an and
call for peace during days of prayer and worship. If America, the only
military superpower, leads by example, its opponents will have to match
its goodwill. The strong have to show some grace for the weak to
be magnanimous in turn.

LATEST: GENERAL MYERS CONFIRMS JIHAD WEB SITE:
On December 21, immediately after the attack on the U.S. military camp
in Mosul, a Jihad web site claimed that the attack was a martyrdom
operation by the Jaish Ansar al-Sunnah, a Kurdish Islamic movement.
On December 22, General Myers confirmed that. It appears that the body
of the bomber has been found. He is reported by U.S.
media
to be 24 years old and married only a month back.
Earlier, all day on December 21, the Pentagon had insisted that it was
a rocket attack, one of several rockets.

A Letter of Thanks from 'Ahmed 'Abdel Sattar's Wife
[She stands by a man whose only 'fault' is that he opposes the
Egyptian
Tyrant. U.S. Citizen Oppressed Unjustly.]
Dear Friends,
This past week was the governments presentation of the "evidence". Their
case consisted of numerous phone calls from 1996-2001. None of which
contained any information that would support the conspiracy charges.
As I had stated in my earlier emails Ahmed was attempting to bring two
sides together to achieve peace in Egypt. The prosecutor took many lines
out of phone conversations and presented them out of the context from
which they came, and Ahmed was all too quick to let both the jury and
prosecutor know that. Many observers in the courtroom were talking
about how Ahmed controlled the governments line of questioning. This
was the best explanation for the outbursts of Mr. Morvillo! Ahmed
calmly gave answers and explained to the jury when things were taken
out of context. Especially when Quranic verses were presented. Ahmed
found himself giving mini lessons on Islam. The week ended with a bang
as many of you may have read in the NY Times, Newsday and other tabloids.
"You're quite a patriot Mr. Sattar" was the final comment from the
government. The judge immediately ordered it stricken from the record
and instructed the jury to disregard the statement and was told this
was unprofessional and there was no place in the courtroom for this
type of comment!
The next phase of the trial is as follows, First the prosecutor gives
his closing remarks then the defense lawyers each have their turn,
and then the prosecutor has a chance for a rebuttal. After that the
judge explains the charges and all of the points that they must agree
on in order to reach a verdict or not, then he will dismiss them to the
jury room to deliberate.
Please pray for Ahmed. God willing he will be home soon. I would like
to thank all of those who have been at my side for the past 2 1/2 years,
took time out of your day to come to the courthouse or simply uttered
a kind word or thought to me or my children. We will never forget you.
Have a happy Holiday and a healthy New Year!
The next court date is December 29 & 30, the Gov't. Closing, Then on
January 3, 2003, for the defenses closing, and we're back to four
days until a verdict is reached.
My best regards to all,
Lisa

The Human Face of Masaud Khan
VIRGINIA INNOCENT:
Pakistani-American
in for 90 Years.
Visited by Mother after 9 hour drive. Good Citizen Victimized by Ashcroft.
[Written before Ramadan.]
This past weekend, my son, Ahmad, his wife and her sister and husband
and I were finally permitted to visit Masaud at the US Penitentiary in
Pennington Gap, Virginia. Masaud was transferred to this prison about 7
weeks ago and it has taken all that time to receive permission to
visit him. We left on Friday evening and drove all night in order to
reach there before 8:00 am. It was a long 9-hour trip, relieved by our
ability to rotate drivers and stop for a rest and prayers along the way.
We traveled on Highway 81-S to 58 and then, by asking for directions
from time to time, found that we had a 20-mile trek up a winding
mountain to Pennington Gap - a tiny town whose residents are mainly
farmers, dealing in Black Angus cattle, sheep, and corn.
The local people appear friendly and are not at all concerned with (1)
men with beards (everyone seems to have a beard and long hair); or
(2) women wearing scarves (except to say that the "outfits are very nice"
and "where do you'all come from?" Everyone was polite; the mountain air
and water are healthy; and the view is spectacular.
Lee Penitentiary was built in 2002 and is located about a mile from the
town. Visiting hours are from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Fridays, and from
8:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. It takes time to process
the visitor for the escorted visit, and can take from 1 - 2 hours,
depending on the number of visitors waiting to enter and the
availability of a guard escort. Visitors are seated at a designated
table. The inmate sits opposite the visitors and maintains a distance.
I was told it would be permitted to greet the inmate (give a hug) and
that we could eat lunch together from items available in vending
machines there.
Alhamdulillah, it was a blessed visit for us and such a joy to be able
to hug my son for the first time in over 15 months and then to have the
luxury of talking to him for over 6 hours without a glass window and
telephone. I kept thinking of his little son, Ebraheem, and how Masaud
will be able to hold him and kiss him when he comes for a visit. One can
never know how these simple acts can mean so much until they are taken
away. We struggled with our emotions and managed most of the time to
show smiling faces to Masaud. I was relieved that Masaud looked well
and had a better color, although thin, and he said that he has access
to exercise in an outside courtyard so that his health has improved,
since the lack of sun at the Detention Center was adversely affecting
his skin. There are Kosher meals available since there are
approximately 300 Muslims there and his cellmate is also a Muslim.
He has access to a prison commissary for toiletries, clothing, food
snacks, stamps, envelopes, etc. which he has to purchase. He maintains
a phone account and can place 15-minute calls at his own expense, for
which I am also very grateful.
Masaud has been assigned a work schedule and earns about $4.00 a month.
He spends his free time reading and praying. Mail delivery is sporadic
and slow. He usually receives my letters in "bunches." If anyone
wishes to write him, the address is below:
Masaud Khan - Reg. No. 46810-083
U. S. Penitentiary LEE County
P.O. Box 305
Jonesville, VA 23263-0305
--------------------------------------------
Our family is still struggling and remains hopeful for his release,
Allah Willing. As always, Masaud appears to be the stronger of us and
shows immense patience and trust in Allah. The appeal is in progress
but nothing is being done at present until a final decision is made by
the U.S. Supreme Court regarding federal sentencing guidelines.
Once that decision is made, the attorneys can begin their briefing
schedule. There are also several motions pending in Court at this time.
This is the time when we must pray for miracles to happen. I am writing
to the Congress with the help of a neighbor and still searching for a
way to exonerate my son. I hope the Community does not forget him and
I wish they would join with me in the correspondence I am beginning
with certain Congressmen. It is important that he is not forgotten
and that his case is constantly brought before the public as a
reminder of the injustices occurring every day to innocent people.
When we left to return home, I hugged him goodbye and told him I would
be back on Eid, inshallah. He stood there across the room, watching us
go, and our hearts broke that he was not walking out with us. He does
not belong there! He bears no resemblance to some of the 900 inmates
who are there for life sentences for the worst of crimes. May Allah
keep him safe from harm, and return our loved one to us. Please pray
for him and make duas during the coming blessed month of Ramadan.
Yours in Islam
Bilquis (Um-Masaud)

PAKISTANI NEWS: [From our Pakistan rep. reading Urdu language
media.]
RESOUNDING ISLAMIC VICTORY IN MALAKAND Bye-ELECTION
December 22: Jamaate Islami's Bakhtiar Maani won by a landslide in bye
elections held in Malakand. He was the representative of the Islamic
coalition, MMA. In an important step towards unity, Jamiatul
Ulema-e-Islami, led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, withdrew its own
candidate to stop Islamic votes from being divided.
The Musharraf government had announced that it would pour huge
development funds into Malakand, in an effort to dilute support for
the Islamic movement. It did'nt work. The Islamic candidate won a clear
and convincing victory.
Malakand is an important area in the struggle between Islam and American interests owing to its location in Frontier Province of Pakistan.
RAWALPINDI RALLY: THOUSANDS SHOW DISCIPLINE in HEAVY RAIN
December 19: An impressive rally of the Islamic Coalition, MMA, was
held in Rawalpindi's famous Liaqat Bagh. In normal circumstances few
would have attended a political rally in torrential rain. However, MMA's
supporters, in their thousands, refused to budge and listened to
speeches denouncing the regime of General Musharraf, who is seen here
as the "American president."
The rally was preceded by two marches through the streets as two long
columns of people led by Islamic leaders who are looking for
PEACEFUL CHANGE joined up at the public grounds.
At a dramatic point in the rally, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, the leader of
Jamaate Islami
OFFERED HIMSELF FOR MARTYRDOM
in the effort to remove the American installed president Musharraf.
COLLABORATOR KILLED
December 10. Near the
Afghan
frontier, in North Waziristan's Barmal area, Islamic tribals slew a
man named Sher Ali who was known as a collaborator of the U.S. He had
received several threats to stop his activities. The tribals claimed
that he had a satellite phone which he allegedly used to pass
information to U.S. forces. The killers took away his phone.

IRAN &
IRAQ
IRANIAN
ISLAMIC LEADER SEES U.S.-ISRAELI HAND BEHIND BOMB EXPLOSIONS IN NAJAF
and KARBALA
On December 19, there were bomb explosions near the holiest Shia mosques
in Najaf and Karbala. More than 60 people were reported killed and more
than a hundred wounded.
The U.S. installed "Prime Minister" of Iraq, Iyad Allawi, a Shi'ite
CIA
agent, claimed that the attack was the work of "Sunni militants" aiming
at creating sectarian strife in Iraq to disrupt the "elections."
No Sunni group, however, took responsibility for the attacks.
News reports, some appearing on
CNN
Headline News on December 20, indicated that the attacks might have
been the result of internal Shi'ite conflict, tribal rather than
Shia-Sunni.
A day later the Islamic leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamene'i came out
with a stunning disclosure. He said that the U.S. and Israel were behind
the attacks. He added that the U.S. wants to hold "elections" in Iraq
which will be only "surface level" and partial.
The leader of Iran seems to have come to the conclusion that the
"elections" will be engineered in such a way that only American and
Israeli agents will get elected.
New Trend
analysts say that Ayatollah Khamen'ei has blown the cover off the
intrigues behind the "elections" being planned in an occupied country
where the blood of the Iraqi people is flowing in the streets.
The U.S. military operation against the Mahdi army, led by Muqtada al-Sadr,
our analysts say, was meant to ensure that no genuine Shia Islamic groups
would be able to function in an organized way. More than 500 Shias were
killed by the U.S. army in THREE DAYS. American forces desecrated both
Najaf and Karbala, much to the surprise of Iran which had thought that
it could subtly gain from cooperation with the U.S. election plan.

BLAIR's POLITICAL PORNOGRAPHY: In the steps of Balfour, Radcliffe & Gordon
At a time when Iraq is bleeding, when Lancet magazine reports 100,000
Iraqi civilians killed by the U.S. air force, Britain's Tony Blair,
guarded by a flotilla of U.S. Black Hawk helicopters, flew into
embattled Baghdad and shook hands with CIA agent Iyad Allawi.
Blair's slogan of "democracy versus terrorism" indicates that he believes
in his own delusions about Iraq and is totally cut off from reality.
Zionist-backed
Britons like Blair have left a trail of death and destruction through
modern Muslim history. BALFOUR decided to give PALESTINE to the JEWS,
although it was not his to give. RADCLIFFE gave Muslim areas of Eastern
Punjab to
India,
EFFECTIVELY CUTTING OFF KASHMIR FROM PAKISTAN.
Earlier in
SUDAN,
the British destroyed the ENTIRE CITY OF KHARTOUM and rebuilt it on
the pattern of the Union Jack, the British flag.
The Zionist-backed British elites owe the Muslim world. They have
planted the seeds of ongoing conflict in the heartlands of Islam.
