Hijri New Year Greetings to Readers from New Trend
Here we share a poem from a reader in Pakistan:
Hijri New Year
1448 AH
The silver moon is shy tonight
While stars stand round with gentle light.
Our burdens stay, though lighter grown
They keep us wakeful, not alone.
Our spirits lift with renewed hope,
As we hold fast to Allah's Rope.
He purifies us from vice and shame
We walk the Path which Rasool Allah gave.
Let's plan ahead with Faith and Unity
For joy within our Ummah's community.
Remember those innocent souls behind bars,
Women, men, young and old like distant stars.
Let no terror or poverty rob us of the taqwa
and hope we share.
Ya Allah grant our righteous Leader long
Life and strength to reign with care.
Ameen.

Who was Imam Abu Hanifa?
Imam Abu Hanifa was the greatest Islamic teacher after the Companions of the Prophet, pbuh.
Abu Hanifa (Arabic: أَبُو حَنِيفَة, romanized: Abū Ḥanīfa; 5 September 699 CE – 18 June 767 CE) was born 80 hijri. He passed away in 150 hijri.
He was a Muslim scholar, jurist, theologian, ascetic, and eponym of the Hanafi school of Sunni jurisprudence, which remains the most widely practiced to this day. His school predominates in Central and South Asia, Turkey, Africa, the Balkans, Russia, and some parts of the Arab world.
Vice President JD Vance Speaks Truth to Israel: "You can't just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem you have"
By New Trend Staff
In a June 18 White House press briefing, Vance expressed concern that members of the Israeli cabinet were attacking President Trump. To those within Netanyahu's cabinet who have attacked the Iran deal and "in some ways very personally attacked the President of the United States," he said, "Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time. And he happens to be the head of state of the world's superpower. If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world."
This in itself is shocking, because the US has seldom acknowledged Israel's isolation and lack of support around the world so bluntly. It may be an indicator of permanent change in the region, a change brought about not through the goodness of US government, but through the immense sacrifice of the Palestinian and Iranian peoples.
Then, Vance told the truth (coated with a bit of Orwellian double speak) on who supplies the weapons for genocide: "Over the last two months, two-thirds of the defensive weapons that have protected your homeland have been built by American hands and paid for by American tax dollars."
He let Netanyahu himself off the hook, saying Netanyahu was not the one attacking Trump, but focused on the Israeli cabinet.
In an interview with New York Times reporter Ross Douthat the same day, Vance said he would tell Israeli cabinet members like Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, who had attacked Trump's Iran deal, "You're a country of nine million people. You can't just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem you have."
Vance continued, "Fundamentally, we're worried about what's in the best interest of the American people. And to the extent that—and I think the president has shown this—where he sees misalignment between the goals of the political system in Israel and the goals of the American people, he's willing to say that we're going to pursue America's interests where there are divergences."
This is one of the few instances where an American president or vice president—or for that matter—any mainstream US politician—has differentiated US interests from Israeli interests. For a long while, this was simply not done by US politicians, if they didn't want to get unseated by AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups. In fact, elected officials from both parties usually try to portray US and Israeli interests as one and the same. Vance's statements seemed to reflect a growing awareness in the US government that that the majority of Americans no longer support Israel. And all of this is due to hard work and prodigious organizing by a multitude of anti-war, anti-Apartheid, and anti-Zionist groups across the nation.

The Real Gandhi
By Dr. Kaukab Siddique
The real Gandhi was a racist. His propaganda is built up by fake stories. Here I summarize an important study done on him by Lynn Ngugi:
Gandhi said, Africans are dirty, troublesome, and live like animals. In his entire tenure, Gandhi did not want equality, but superiority for Indians. He supported both Whites and Indians above Africans. He was a collaborator against Africans with the British.
He also abused women, including his wife. He would get his female relatives to lie next to him unclothed. For example, in a show of "self-control," he slept next to his naked niece.
The bowls for defecation were to be cleaned only by his wife.
He himself took Western medicine, but would not let his wife take it when she was not well. Eventually, this led to her demise.
Even Africans were fooled for some time. But he did nothing for Africans. His own ashram revealed his racism: It was segregated. Historians are waking up, and as a result of their research, his statues are being removed in many African countries. He supported the inferiority of Africans at every turn.
He did not want Africans to live near Indians. He made no effort to end segregation. He said please don't include us with Africans. He supported purity of races. In his mind was a hierarchy: Europeans at the top, Indians next, and, at the bottom Africans.
Not surprisingly, in the Zulu war, he supported the British.
Glimpses of Maulana Maudoodi
By Dr. Kaukab Siddique
He wrote about the finality of prophethood and the unity of the Ummah. His ideas gradually spread all over Pakistan.
The government of Pakistan was secular. The rulers were extremely Westernized. Before Pakistan came into being, they used to say Maudoodi was against the creation of Pakistan.
But when Pakistan was assaulted by India, Maudoodi was invited to come on radio to help the Pakistani side. He urged the masses to fight back in the name of Allah. His message was powerful and united Pakistan for Islam. Pakistanis became mujahideen, and some gave their lives to blow up Indian tanks. As a result, the Indian army was devastated.
Maudoodi had a study circle in the garden of his house. I had the opportunity to attend the study circle. Very quickly I realized he was a scholar, who supported his teachings with in-depth references.
Once a young man listened to his teachings and came with evil intent. The man drew out a long knife. He confessed that he had come to kill Maudoodi based on abusive reports he'd heard about the scholar on sectarian media. But after listening to Maudoodi himself, the would-be killer apologized and left.
On another occasion at a big public meeting, Maulana, as we called him, was confronted by a gunman sent by the regime. The gun man opened fire, killing one man. People shouted at Maulana sahib to get down. Maulana said, "If I sit down, who will keep standing?" He was fearless.
Many years back, I found a book in my grandfather's library titled Riba in which Maudoodi argues, with full references, that bank interest is haraam (forbidden) in Islam. He was outright against capitalism.
For years, he was imprisoned. In fact, his entire central committee was imprisoned. But the government could not stop his ideas from spreading. His writings were translated and spread all over the Muslim world. However, the Pakistani regime would not let him travel.
Once the travel ban was removed from him, all the media were invited to meet him. But most major media in Pakistan at the time were secular. Many, like Dawn, remain so. So, despite the unusual opportunity to interview such a prominent scholar, no one from the Pakistani press corps turned up.
I went and saw Syed Munawar Hasan there alone. Munawar was funny.
I asked him "Where are the media?"
He laughed and said, "You are the media."
Munawar could win over anyone. He was amazing and slowly through him, Jamiat, the student wing of Jamaat-e Islami, became the biggest student group at Karachi University. I was enrolled in a degree program there, I came across him again, and gradually we became close friends. Munawar made Karachi University a major bastion of Islamic work.
Once Munawar came to my house, where I lived with rich relatives. He said, "Come out and meet the masses. Living here will be a waste of your abilities."
My highest thoughts were influenced by Maulana Maudoodi. He encouraged me to write against secular Americanized groups which were taking over Pakistan. I read his numerous books. I also studied his tafseer of the Qur'an, and found it brilliant and thought provoking.
Later on, I'd moved to Canada to pursue my doctorate. During that time, Maulana Maudoodi visited there. He gave a major speech which I had the honor to translate (live) into English.
He encouraged supporters to use his writings to rebut secularism. "Come Let Us Change This World" is the title of the book in which I summarized his writing. It has been published in various countries.
He had some famous quips. Once he was very tired from travelling. A student wanted to "press (massage) his legs," as young people in Pakistan do for elders. Maudoodi refused, saying "Main kubhi daba naheen."

NBA Teams Operate Like Slave Plantations
James Dolan and President Trump are besties. They are both billionaires who grew up with wealth and their relationship goes back decades.
James Dolan owns the New York Knickerbockers (a.k.a. Knicks), who are the 2026 champions in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
This is the team's first championship since 1973 and there was a huge build up of excitement during and after the playoffs.
During the NBA Finals series, Knicks fans attended watch parties held throughout New York City. They cost $10 to attend all of the proceeds went to charity. These watch parties were huge gatherings of spectators watching the games on large screens at outdoor or indoor locations. There were parties in Central Park and another one next door to Madison Square Garden (MSG) where the Knicks play their games. Unfortunately, playoff tickets cost in the tens of thousands of dollars even for nose-bleed seats further away from the basketball court!
After a few arrests, the local police refused to give Dolan a watch party permit for outside MSG.
This watch party shutdown sparked a dispute between Mayor Mamdani, who supported the police, and James Dolan. Criticism directed at the police questioned the local police squads' inability to control crowds that were a fraction of the size of the New Year's Eve party where party-goers number in the millions!
The watch parties started back up again. But, Dolan's feud with Mayor Mamdani continued.
The championship parade ended at City Hall, where Mayor Mamdani gave a memorable, celebratory introduction of the New York Knicks. However, when James Dolan spoke he said, "I don't need your vote. I don't need to quote to you what happened. If you're real Knicks fans, you know already."
It was being reported during the celebration that Knicks players were not visiting the White House. It is tradition for professional championship winning teams to visit the White House. There have always been individual players who did not go but under the Trump Administrations there have been entire NBA teams absent. The Knicks would be the first to visit.
Renowned racist and retired professional quarterback Boomer Esaison expressed his wish for the Knicks players to get the White House invite. But his wish was for more sinister reasons. Although he was not specific, according to journalist Jemele Hill, she suspected Esaison's reasons for hoping the Knicks received a White House invite was to see how the white team owner was going to make his mostly black team visit. NBA teams have fired White coaches for not exerting more authority over "problem" Black players.
In spite the report that some Knicks players expressed disinterest in visiting the White House, James Dolan announced that his pal President Trump invited his Knicks team. President Trump attended game 3 of the NBA Finals and was reportedly booed by fans at MSG.
Rich White men like President Trump and James Dolan, love exerting control over people. Their egos often go unchecked. But, those who do challenge their oppressive ways are usually excommunicated or exiled like former Knicks player Charles Oakley.
People have legitimate reasons for hating President Trump and James Dolan.
While referring to James Dolan, Jemele Hill remarked: "Petty, vindictive, insecure. That's James Dolan."
It is very possible that Dolan accepted the invite without consulting Knicks players. This is the arrogance of wealthy types like Dolan and Trump.
These White House invites usually take place in December. Players should not feel compelled to go to the White House by some oppressive boss. We shall see what happens, insha'allah.

*KISWAH*~[كسوة الكعبة] *PROPHET* ﷺ USED TO DRAPE THE 'KISWAH' OVER THE 'KAABA HIMSELF {!}
The annual ceremony to replace the sacred covering of the Kaaba was on June 16, 2026,
marking the start of the New Islamic Year 1448 AH in Makkah- Alhamdulillah.
The House of ALLAH in Makkah, the 'Kaaba' is covered by a black cloth
known as 'Kiswah', which is produced & changed every year.
(the sacred black and gold cloth covering the Kaaba) is changed annually on the 1st of Muharram (now) to mark the beginning of the new Islamic year.
A Special factory is designed for the making of the 'Kiswah' in Makkah.
Kiswah كسوة الكعبة, (kiswat al-ka'bah) is the cloth that covers the 'Kaaba' in Makkah .
The term 'Kiswah' is Arabic for 'Pall', the cloth draped over a casket,
( and is a cognate of the Hebrew word 'Kisui'.)
It costs approximately SR 17 million. The cloth is made of 670 kilos of silver dyed black.
About 120 kilos of pure gold & 50 kilos of silver is used in writing the Qur`anic
verses over the cloth. The total area of the cloth is 658 sq. meters.
A Description of the 'KISWAH' of the Holy Kaaba.
The 'Kiswah' is woven from pure natural silk that is dyed black.
The sentences "La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah,"
"Allahu Jalla Jalaluhu,"
"Subhan Allah wa Bihamdihi," "Subhan Allah Al-`Azhim,"
"Ya Hannan," "Ya Mannan"
are embroidered on the black silk in thread of gold.
Surat Al - Ikhlas from the Qur'an is embroidered in circles
with gold thread on the four (4) corners.
These circles are surrounded with squares of Islamic decorations.
Under the belt there are also six (6) verses of the Qur'an,
each of them inside a separate form.
When King Abdul Aziz entered Makkah in 1924, he accepted full and total
responsibility for the Kaaba which included providing the 'Kiswah'.
On July 1, 1927, King Abdul Aziz ordered the construction of a special factory to
be exclusively devoted to the manufacture of the 'Kiswah' in Ajyad district in Makkah.
The old 'Kiswah' is carefully removed, preserved, and cut into smaller pieces by Saudi authorities. These fragments are then gifted to foreign dignitaries, visiting VIPs, Islamic organizations, and global museums.

'Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakahtu'.
The Recognition and respect of Parents is mentioned
in the Quran {11} eleven times !
In Surah Al- Isra' (Children of Israel) there is a very beautiful description
of how Parents are to be treated.
Allah {Azzawajal} says...
' Your Lord had decreed, that you worship none save Him,
and (that you show) kindness to Parents.
If one of them or both of them attain old age with you,
say not 'Fie' unto them nor repulse them,
but speak unto them a gracious word.
And lower unto them the wing of submission through
mercy, and say....
'My Lord, have mercy on them both,
as they did care for me when I was young.'

*The Wooden Bowl *
A frail old man went to live with his son,
daughter-in-law, and his four year old grandson.
The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred,
and his step faltered.
The family ate together at the table.
But the elderly grandfather's
shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult...!
Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.
When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.
The son and daughter-in-law became
irritated with the mess.
'We must do something about father,'
.... said the son.
'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating,
and his dropping food on the floor.'
So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner .
There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the
family enjoyed dinner.
since Grandfather had broken a dish or two,
his food was served in a wooden bowl.
When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes
he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone.
still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions
when he dropped a fork or spilled food.
The four-year-old watched it all in silence...{!}
One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.
so he asked the child sweetly...
' What are you making'...?
Just as sweetly, the boy responded....
'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat
your food in when I grow up' {!}
The four year old smiled and went back to work.
The words struck the parents so that they were speechless...!
Then tears started to stream down their cheeks...
Though no word was spoken,
They both knew what must be done...
That evening the husband took Grandfather's
hand and gently led him back to the family table.
for the remainder of his days
he ate every meal with the family.
and for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed
to care any longer when a fork was dropped,
the milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.
Grandpa's Wooden Bowl.
...My 'Salaams' to All...

Our trip to Norway is coming to a close. Most Norwegians already support Palestine. We met great people and some of them will collaborate with us and even volunteer (some remotely and some in person). The Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability could use the support as we expand with the new museum facilities, new research and new people and projects. Follow-us on social media (eg,
FaceBook.com/PIBS.PMNH
)
My article on eco-sumud in the magazine This Week in Palestine
ThisWeekInPalestine.com/eco-sumud
Other articles in the same issue "Green Resistance: Environmental Justice in Palestine," are also great.
Israeli forces killed 566 football (soccer) players in Gaza last three years!
That is 50+ teams worth of players.
FIFA still lets Israeli players (who are all war criminals who served in the genocidal army) into world venues while banning Russia!
FIFA also plays in the US. which has racist entry policies to the world games!
Israeli forces have now killed over 1,000 Palestinian civilians in Gaza (men, women, children) since Trump's "ceasefire" celebrated as ending the war on Gaza!
Hunger and deprivation and destruction continues.
On positive news, the Zionist Epstein class is angry at the deal struck with Iran and doing everything they can to wreck it.
But this could also be a tactic/subterfuge since Trump is a puppet of the Israel lobby (thanks to the blackmail tapes).
Allowing verbal differences and noise, while aiming to save the world economy from collapse.
(As Trump said: oil prices are going down and stock market is up.)
But in any case, for Iran this is a win regardless: they get sanctions relief, they get 60 days to rebuild their economy, and yes to rearm and get new defensive technologies from China and Russia, since the imperial and Zionist elites are well known for breaking agreements and ceasefires.
Israel Is on a Killing Spree of Paramedics and Rescue Workers in Lebanon.
Israel has killed over 120 rescue workers, damaged 16 hospitals, and targeted over 130 ambulances in Lebanon since March 2!
OMAR HAMAD wrote from GAZA:
"Today, I went to a school—a school holding so much sorrow that if it were distributed among all the people of the earth, it would suffice them.
Every single child in this school is the sole survivor of their family; a family that was entirely wiped out, a family annihilated by Israel.
I was among them today. One of the staff members told me that for every 15 children, there is an "alternative mother."
I paused at this term; perhaps it is the first time in my life I have ever heard it.
I wondered, what does an "alternative mother" even mean?!
Because I know all too well that the only thing that can never be replaced is a mother.
You might find a friend who compensates for a brother, but a mother's instinct toward her child is something no nature in this life can ever replace.
Every time I try to think about it, I feel like I'm losing my mind.
I started joking and playing with the children, trying with all my might not to show my tears to them.
They carry a vast void within them, a void we strive so hard to fill even a tiny fraction of.
With every passing moment of my life, I curse Israel even more than the moment before.
Every worker I saw in the school, I asked the exact same question: "Is there absolutely no one left alive from their family?"
And the answer was always, "No, there is no one. Israel killed them all." I came out with my eyes streaming with tears.
Curse this wretched world.'
'The situation we have reached in Gaza is harsher than anything imaginable. Mosquitoes and insects devour us to the point that my clothes are stained with blood from scratching so severely. Rats, on the other hand—I live in half a house, while the other half is bombed and filled with hundreds of rats, some weighing up to 1.5 kilograms each. Our children do not sleep at night out of fear. The bombardment is still ongoing, and the genocide has never stopped for a single day; every day there is a massacre. Every passing moment, I fear a missile will fall over
my head. Furthermore, the famine continues; more than 85% of the people of Gaza depend entirely on food kitchens, and Israel still allows food in very minute quantities that do not suffice even 10% of Gaza's population. We are so tired of this situation. Until when??"
The world is changing though and there is a decline of the US/Israel empire though in favor of supranational oligarchs like Elon Musk. But people still matter and can end our nightmare. Surveys do show a significant shift in world public opinion which soon will translate to more government shifts.
Stay Humane, act, and keep hope and Palestine alive
