Alex Murdaugh has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of his wife and son, but his legal troubles look far from over.

The high-profile trial of the disgraced former lawyer from South Carolina has also brought renewed attention to Murdaugh's alleged financial crimes, as well as a series of deaths that are said to be connected to the family.

Murdaugh likely to appeal conviction

Immediately after the sentencing, his defence team told reporters they planned to file an appeal against the jury's guilty verdict, arguing there was not enough evidence to convict.

His lawyers said they planned to appeal because there was not significant evidence linking his financial crimes to the motive for murder. The majority of the evidence presented in the trial was circumstantial, but jurors still found Murdaugh guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Murdaugh maintained his innocence during sentencing, telling the court: "I would never hurt my wife, Maggie, and I would never hurt my son."

His lawyers said they would file an appeal within 10 days.

Islam, Not Christianity, Biggest in the World: Impression Needs Correction

If you ask anybody or google which are the largest religions in the world, the answer will be Christianity followed by Islam. But the truth is that the population of Muslims believing in the fundamentals of Islam is much larger than the population of Christians believing in the basic tenets of Christianity.

Pew Centre shows 2.2 billion Christians (32% of the world's population), 1.6 billion Muslims (23%), 1 billion Hindus (15%), nearly 500 million Buddhists (7%) and 14 million Jews (0.2%) around the world as of 2010. Obviously, these are little older figures. Wikipedia gives the following percentage of the main religions:

But while the number of Muslims who are firmly committed to the fundamentals of their religion (One God, Muhammad the Last Prophet, Quran the Book of God, Hereafter) has been continuously growing, the number of Christians believing in the basic tenets of Christianity (Jesus as God or Son of God, Gospel the Divine book) continues to go down with every passing day. Interestingly, while Muslims firmly believe that Jesus was born as a divine miracle from a virgin mother Mary, a large number of Christians will be found rejecting or doubting this.

According to an article, titled " A Majority Of Americans Think Jesus Is A Great Teacher Yet" (PRNewswire), "A new survey reveals that 52 percent of American adults believe that Jesus was a great teacher and nothing more." This is despite the fact that the Christianity in America is stronger than in Europe and Australian continents.

Europe" by Harriet Sherwood published in Guardian says:


"Europe's march towards a post-Christian society has been starkly illustrated by research showing a majority of young people in a dozen countries do not follow a religion. The survey of 16- to 29-year-olds found the Czech Republic is the least religious country in Europe, with 91% of that age group saying they have no religious affiliation. Between 70% and 80% of young adults in Estonia, Sweden and the Netherlands also categories themselves as non-religious."

An article on the situation in Australia titled "Most Australian young people open to change their religious views"says:

"Australian research company McCrindle recently released a study called The Changing Faith Landscape in Australia, which shows that 46% of Australians "identify with Christianity". Furthermore, 13% defined themselves as unaffiliated believers; 33% of respondents said they were atheists or agnostic; and 6% practiced other religions.

Regarding the age, "younger Australians are less likely to identify with Christianity than their older counterparts". Nearly three-quarters (73%) of the oldest generation still consider themselves Christian while just 38% of the Generation Z respondents said that."

In contrast, Muslims are showing greater commitment to their religion, and this has continued to increase. An article about Muslims in America, "Non-Belief: An Islamic Perspective - Secularism and Nonreligion" by K Sevinc · (2018) says, "The rate of those who believe in God is 94.5% and those who self identify themselves as Muslim is 97%".

The same is true of the whole Muslim world where the overwhelming majority of Muslims (95-99%) can be easily found as having firm belief in God, Muhammad and Quran.

If only 40-50 % (even less in many parts including Europe) of the so-called Christian world does not even believe in Jesus as prescribed in Christianity, why should their numbers be still counted as above 2.3 billion. The truth is that the number of Christians by faith is not more than 1.3 billion. There is absolutely no reason to doubt that Islam is the biggest religion of the world, and its percentage is expected to continue to increase at least in the next decade.

According to The New York Times, an estimated 25% of American Muslims are converts. In Britain, around 6,000 people convert to Islam per year and, according to a June 2000 article in the British Muslims Monthly Survey, the majority of new Muslim converts in Britain were women. When it comes to the reasons why Islam is growing, the Western experts try to paint it mainly the effect of their having more children. First, the conversion to Islam is definitely much more than that to any other religion. Second, if Muslim fertility rate is slightly higher, the reasons are simple. First, the family system is still strong in Muslim societies whereas it has totally disintegrated in the so-called Christian or Western world. Second, Muslims are much less likely to abort than others, as they consider it a sin. On the other hand, in America and Europe, an overwhelming majority of pregnancies end up in induced abortions. Human Rights organizations do not care of the daily genocide which is going around the world without a break, resulting in the murders of more than 70 million unborn children every year. In India, female foeticide is very common in Hindu community with the Male/Female ration dropping to less than 100/80 in many states.

Muslims need to tell the world that support to promiscuity, homosexuality and abortions in the name of "Freedom of Choice" is nothing but a support to dismantling and destroying humanity on the earth, in terms of its physical as well as moral and social meanings. If the current trend continues, a time can come sooner than later when the very survival of mankind will be in danger. Those who support and practice these practices can hardly claim to be civilized. But what else can be expected in a world, which is dominated by what I call "Economic Fundamentalism" and where the interests of life, health and peace are only secondary to the interests of the market.

But the West-dominated media will continue to give the misplaced figures because this suits them. If they are showing this it does not mean that they have any love for Christianity. It is only because they think that Christianity in name rather than in its spiritual and moral forms is no threat to their system which commercializes all those practices that are considered immoral y most religions. They fear Islam more because they feel that the concept of fundamental prohibition is more emphatic in Islam
I need to emphasize here that if Christianity is losing sheen it makes me worried. Christianity needs to be serious about why it is losing to atheist ideologies of the world.
I have been arguing for decades that the challenge for religious in today's world does not come from one another but from the ant-religion forces that dominate the world; and the religions need to unite to face this threat rather than fighting each other.

SALAFI

A very fierce discord has sprung up amongst Yoruba Muslims believed to be reckoned with as Ahlu Sunnah.

Traditionally, there are subtle jabs among the scholars based on divergent positions on certain jurisprudence, but it almost got to a climax when the senior scholars amongst the Saudi Arabia graduates got involved.

The most recent war of attrition and name calling has a lot to do with views on Jama'at Tablig and its Dawwah methodologies in Yoruba. Yorubaland is undoubtedly the stronghold of Jamat Tablig in Nigeria. In fact, many practicing Sunnah today traced their steps to this jamaah and many ordinary people believe all Ahlu Sunnah are Tablig.

Majority of early Sunnih scholars have written voluminously and spoken extensively on the origin, belief system, and methodologies of this Jamah . This never caused issues but place ordinary Muslims in the know of what Tablig stands for.

In what appears to be not letting a sleeping dog lie, Dr Bilal Al- Asrau espoused and affirmed authenticity of Sunnah of Jamaat Tablig in the face of hot trading of words amongst younger scholars. This resulted in sharp division amongst respected Saudi PhD holders who have been managing disagreement of opinions hitherto.

Dr Fahdil Abiola, another Saudi graduate descended heavily on Dr Asra and discredited all his propositions and postulations in support of Dawwah of Jamaat Tablig through episodes of refutations.

This, thereafter or somewhat within the intellectual war,made Dr Asra and others scholars in his tent alleged that the principle of their adversaries scholars is to act the scripts of their role models like Sheik Madkhali and Sheik Jamii, the duo of whom were accused of being the proponents of 1990 salafists in Saudi Arabia.

In the same vein, another Yoruba graduate of Saudi known as Sheik Imran Eleha in his open condemnation of the salafi scholars of yorubaland alleged that everything about salafi 1990 is political and the game masters in this are the Saudi hegemony. He had earlier called a conference where he invited all groups of Muslims to come and argue for what they believe in. He specifically mentioned Tijaniyah, Qadriyah, Tablig and others as he left many Muslims surprised because he used to be a fierce antagonist of many of these groups.

On top of all, social media had played a big role in fanning ember of discord amongst scholars as many unqualified people speak on matter of Islam and cast aspersions on scholars with divergent view without iota of knowledge.

We hope other Muslims leaders in Yorubaland are working behind the scene to ensure peace.

New Yorker, Rushdie and Imam Khomeini

On February 6, the prestigious and world famous New Yorker
magazine published a lengthy article on Salman Rushdie.

The article gives the highest possible praise to Rushdie. The impression one gets from the New Yorker is that Rushdie is a genius and is now getting ready to share more of his superb writing abilities with the world.

New Yorker does not tell its readers that Rushdie attacked the basic beliefs of the global Muslim ummah, more than a billion people, and the attack was pornographic, not scholarly. Rushdie trivialized and abused the Prophet, pbuh, presented his wives as prostitutes, saw the Qur'an as fake and mocked the angel Gabriel.

Rushdie should have been arrested and brought to trial for attempting to bring imperialist genocidal mental war against the Muslim world.

There were protests and rallies against Rushdie's scandalous and abusive book in several countries. A number of Muslims were killed by police in these protests.

The Muslim masses were helpless, Their protests were seen as crazy extremism in the West. Anglo-American writers groups, deeply Zionist, like PEN, went to the extent of doing public readings of Rushdie's blasphemy laden stories,

Western media and intellectuals knew that Rushdie had gone beyond all levels of decency.

Rulers of Muslim countries, puppets themselves, did nothing to express offense against Rushdie, In that context Imam Khomeini expressed the united will of the Muslim Ummah by putting the fatwa on Rushdie, Seldom has the Muslim world been so united,.

Even then the Western powers took no legal steps, however mild, against Rushdie, He remained under three layers of protection of western military and intelligence services for ten years until a youth from Lebanon, Hadi Matar , living in New Jersey, found him and wounded him with serious wounds which will last,.

My suggestion is that abusive and pornographic attacks on Islam should be prevented. Notice that in America numerous books have been removed from several libraries because they contain offensive material against races, religions and sexual decency,

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill that takes control of a special tax district surrounding Walt Disney World that for half a century allowed Walt Disney Co to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

"The corporate kingdom finally comes to an end," DeSantis said on Monday during a press event at Lake Buena Vista near Orlando, Florida in the US.

State Republicans last year targeted Disney after it publicly clashed with DeSantis, who is widely considered to be running for United States president in 2024, over a law that restricts classroom instruction of gender and sexual orientation, known by its opponents as the "Don't Say Gay" measure.

In March, Disney's then-Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek publicly voiced disappointment with the bill limiting LGBTQ discussion in schools, saying he called DeSantis to express concern about the legislation becoming law.

In a move political observers viewed as retaliation for Disney's view on the "Don't Say Gay" measure, Florida lawmakers this month passed a bill that DeSantis signed into law and that authorises the governor to appoint five supervisors to oversee traditional municipal services, such as fire protection, public utilities, waste collection and road maintenance, in the region where Disney World operates.

The quasi-government entity also has the authority to raise revenue to pay outstanding debt and cover the cost of services.

"Allowing a corporation to control its own government is bad policy, especially when the corporation makes decisions that impact an entire region," said DeSantis. "This legislation ends Disney's self-governing status, makes Disney live under the same laws as everybody else, and ensures that Disney pays its debts and fair share of taxes."

  1. Ramzan Package for widows and poor

    This year we will distribute Ramzan package among flood effected families in Sind, Baluchistan and in some district of Punjab only. Each family will be given Rs. 10,000.

  2. Flood Relief

    We are building houses for widows and for poor. We have completed 164 one room houses and handed those over to the families and work on 18 more is in progress. Our Target is 300 houses. In Sha Allah.

    Due to cold weather we have distributed 2270 blankets/ Razayes and 3500 jackets in different areas of Sind, Baluchistan and Rajanpur/ Dera Ghazi khan in Punjab and Chitral.

    Rs 25000 have been paid to 497 families whose houses were damaged.

    1047 families were given Rs 5000 each to meet immediate needs in Balochistan, Sind and Punjab.

    In addition 1105 food pkgs were distributed.

    308 tents and 200 mosquito nets distributed.

    This was possible due to cooperation and support of our worthy donors, who has made all this possible. Thank you very much. Jazak Allah Khair

  3. Water supply Schemes.

    In January/ February this year completed 42 water schemes. In year 2022 we completed 317 water supply schemes. In total 2752 schemes have been completed in the last 22 years. These are spread all over Sind, Baluchistan, KPK and Punjab

  4. Education in Thar and Baluchistan.

    Pravalli Trust is running 15 schools in Thar areas with free education. 13 more schools are working in Baluchistan giving free education. Total 28 schools with free education. Cost of school in Sind for Donors is Rs. 10,000 per month, which is the salary of the teacher. In Baluchistan it is Rs. 12000 which is salary of teacher there.

  5. Agriculture with Solar Pumps in Thar Desert areas.

    Three schemes completed this year. Total schemes completed so far are 293. Out of these 195 were donated by Lady Fatima charitable Trust and 20 by Sumar Lakhani Foundation/ RRAI.

  6. Rozgar Scheme for widows and invalid with Goats

    2686 goats have been given to widows and destitute so far. Lady Fatima trust gave 400 goats with 400 child goats among 100 widows in 2021. Last year again they gave 400 goats with child goats to 100 families. Forgotten women UK are also giving 5+5 goats to 30 families.

  7. Adopt a Widow & her Children. Send money directly to her account. .

    You can help widows by sending money directly to widow's bank account.

    Till today 132 adoptions have been made. Donors send money directly to the accounts of the widows. We only indicate the deserving widows to them.

  8. Roshan Thar.

    People are living in darkness even today in Thar Desert areas. With the help of our worthy donors a total of 1095 Huts of poor people were electrified in Thar with solar electricity so far. There is no electricity in those areas and none is expected in next many years.

  9. Helping most vulnerable with small Monthly Help.

    With the help of our very benevolent friends we have started a program through which very distressed families are given Max Rs. 5000 per month. Till now 50 such families are being helped each month.

  10. Tricycles and Wheel chairs.

    596 tricycles/ wheel chairs were given to invalids till to-date. These help them to get from one place to another respectably instead of dragging themselves on ground.

  11. Distribution of Sewing Machines/ Training Centers.

    Total no of sewing machines distributed till now are 445. We are also running 5 Sewing center in which 58 women are being trained in stitching clothes. This helps widows to sustain themselves by stitching clothes of people on payment.

  12. Help in marriage of orphan girls.

    Till now 775 orphan girls have been helped on behalf of our worthy donors. Max help that we offer is Rs. 30,000.

  13. Trees Plantation

    This year in Spring season 1850 trees were planted. In year 2022 18,160 trees were planted Thar and other areas of Sind and Jafar Abad in Baluchistan and KPK. In total 37,850 fruit/ other trees were distributed in last many years.

  14. Toilets for poor families. Forgotten women Trust has started this program through us in Pakistan. 41 Toilets have been made so far for most poor families in Thar Desert areas.

  15. Child Care scheme.

    Through the efforts of S. Nazim Ali from USA, child care centers have started working in Hyderabad areas in Sind. 25 camps have been organized in which pregnant women are seen and advised.

  16. Training

    We are running 7 sewing centers to train ladies in stitching of clothes and two computer centers to train boys and girls in computers handling.

  17. Distribution of Chapals/ Jackets

    1360 Jackets and 1511 Chappals were distributed among barefooted children in Thar.

  18. Karobar.

    44 people were helped to start their own business.

    In addition we trained 97 boys in AC/fridge repairs, 53 as Electricians, 11 as Motor cycle mechanic, 39 in computer, 62 as plumbers and 40 as Auto Electricians. We have two computer centers running. One in Khipro, Sanghar in which 36 boys and 18 girls learnt computer handling and second in Hydarabad in which 18 boys and 12 girls learnt computer.
