Introduction.
Usman, r.a., in some ways the greatest sahabi. Amazing
Example of Compassion for Women.
by Kaukab Siddique, PhD
The sahaba [Companions] of the Prophet, pbuh, are most
highly praised in the Qur'an above all other humans other
than messengers of Allah.
[See 9:100].
From among them the greatest male sahabi was Usman, r.a. In
his entire life he made one serious mistake but was
specifically forgiven b y Allah Almighty in the Qur'an.
Owing to this one mistake, he has been the target of
slander by Agha Khanis and Shias. Human beings are not
perfect and if we look at the great achievements of Usman,
r,a., only a morally imbalanced person or hate monger would
attack him.
Usman, r.a., was among the elite of Makka, very prosperous
and rich. Later he used his wealth to support Islam in
unequalled generosity.
Only 4 people before Usman, r,a., had accepted Muhammad,
pbuh, as the messenger of Allah. His development as a Muslim
was steadily forward ; the more he learned, the stronger he
became in his faith.
He was part of a powerful tribe, the Ummayads. They saw his
rejection of tribal religion and acceptance of Islam as a
threat to the unity of the entire tribe. He was abused,
mistreated and finally tortured. He stayed firm in his
faith.
He was very compassionate and caring towards women. The
Prophet, pbuh, knew him as a trustworthy friend and as a
result he was married to Ruqayya, r.a., the daughter of
Prophet, pbuh.
Owing to the oppression of Muslims by the pagans, the
Prophet, pbuh, sent some of the Muslims to Abyssinia [east
Africa]. Among them were Usman, r.a., and Ruqayya, r.a. It
was a very difficult journey and during migration, the first
Islamic migration, Ruqayya, r.a., had a miscarriage.
Later when Ruqayya, r.a., died the Prophet, pbuh, married
his second daughter, Umm Kulsum, r.a., to Usman, r.a. She
was married to Usman, r.a., from 3 to 9 hijri. When she too
died, Usman, r.a., was torn with extreme sorrow. The
Prophet, pbuh, loved him so much, he said these famous
words:
"If we had a third daughter, we would have given her to you,
Usman." {sahih narration by al-Haythami]
This close relationship between the Prophet, pbuh, and
Usman, r,a, is explained in a hadith in Bayhaqi's sunan
al-Kubra;
"Since Allah created Adam, no one has married two daughters
of a prophet except Usman, and it will be so till the Final
Hour: Thus he was called the Possessor of the Two Lights
[zhun nurayn]."

political parties were turned into the clubs of the waderas
and a common man could not dream to contest the
election.

Covid in the country and lack of facilities at public
hospitals. He appealed the people to follow the SOPs and

Osama bin Laden's influence in the Taliban Victory.
[His anniversary]
[New Trend special report]
The latest Taliban victory indicates that Shaykh Osama bin
Laden opened the way to endless fighting in Afghanistan and
the forthcoming withdrawal of US and NATO forces. Readers
might remember that Osama survived the most severe bombing
in the Tora Bora area and continued to sometimes lead and
often inspire the fighting. The US pressured Pakistan's army
to attack [Osama admirers] Sharia support groups in Swat,
then all over FATA and finally southern and northern
Waziristan. These areas are still occupied by Pak army and
face resistance.
Osama fooled the Pakistan army by hiding next to a Pakistani
military base.
US forces searched all over the world for Osama. Pakistani
military allowed the US to operate in Pakistani air space
and finally the US discovered and killed him in Abbotabad.
The US knew his influence and would not allow him proper
burial. The Pak military even destroyed the house he lived
in during his last years. Even then US observers admit that
his influence is global among Islamic fighting forces.
Pakistani military allowed US forces to enter Afghanistan
through Pakistani land routes and is now allowing NATO to
withdraw intact.[with huge profits for the Pak
generals.]
This must be the biggest betrayal of the Muslim ummah in all
of history
Here is the latest report from Afghanistan: May 2, 2021.
ISLAMABAD - Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan attacked and
overran a key army base in southeastern Ghazni province
Saturday, capturing dozens of soldiers and killing several
others.
The latest attack came on a day when the United States and
NATO partners formally began withdrawing their militaries
from the country after almost 20 years of war.
Two senior provincial council members told VOA the Afghan
army had stationed dozens of its forces at the base outside
the provincial capital, also named Ghazni, before the
pre-dawn insurgent attack.
Local media reports said the ensuing clashes had lasted
several hours and killed at least 17 soldiers.
Afghan army chief, Gen. Mohammad Yasin Zia, who is also the
acting defense minister, confirmed to reporters in Kabul the
fall of the security installation to insurgents, but he
shared no further details.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said its fighters had
also seized heavy and light weaponry besides capturing 25
army personnel and killing "a number of others." [VOA]
Bahrain
30 Apr 2021 [al-Jazeera]
The United Nations human rights office (OHCHR) has said it
is "disturbed" by the "unnecessary and disproportionate"
force used by Bahraini police to dismantle a peaceful sit-in
at the country's main prison earlier this month.
At a press briefing on Friday, Marta Hurtado, spokesperson
for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, called on
Bahrain's government to immediately launch a "thorough and
effective" investigation into the violent repression of the
sit-in at Jau prison, located south of the capital, Manama,
on April 17.
She cited accounts by witnesses who reported that "special
forces threw stun grenades and beat detainees on their
heads, badly injuring many of them".
Hurtado also said authorities reportedly took 33 protesters
"to another building in the prison, where they are being
kept incommunicado, and have been unable to make contact
with families or lawyers, in violation of both national and
international law".
The inmates had been protesting against detention
conditions, in particular, the lack of access to medical
treatment.
Tensions had been rising in the prison since an outbreak of
COVID-19 last month, which authorities said had been
contained.
Egypt
Horrific Crime against Peaceful Islamic Opponents.
Dictator General Sissi has lost all sense of Humanity &
Decency.
[Middle East Monitor. April 27]
Seventeen Egyptian prisoners, including Sheikh Abdel Halim
Gabreel, an 80-year-old Qur'an teacher, were executed
yesterday, on fabricated charges in the case known in the
media as the "Kerdasa massacre". Regime authorities carried
out the death sentences at dawn in Wadi Al-Natrun Prison in
complete secrecy and without prior notification to the
families.
The 16 other prisoners that were executed were: Walid Saad
Abu Omaira, Mohamed Rizk Abuel Soud, Ashraf Sayed Rizk,
Ahmed Owes Hussein, Essam Abdel Moety, Ahmed Abdel Nabi,
Badr Abdel Nabi, Qutb Sayed Qutb, Omar Mohamed El-Sayed,
Izzat Al-Attar, Ali El-Sayed Kenawy, Abdullah Saeed, Mohamed
Yousef Al-Seidi, Ahmed Abdel Salam, Arafat Abdel Latif,
Mustafa El-Sayed El-Kerfesh.
All 17 men were convicted of killing 13 policemen during a
2013 attack on a police station in the Giza suburb of
Kerdasa in 2013.
However serious questions marks were raised over their
conviction. Arab Organisation for Human Rights UK (AOHR)
confirmed that the identity of those who raided the police
station in question remains unknown - the state has not
presented any concrete evidence linking the men executed (or
any of those charged) with the raid. Many of their
testimonies were extracted under tortured, and are therefore
inadmissible, and that the first trial was quashed because
of the state's use of torture.
The conviction of Gabreel in particular has raised serious
concerns. Not only does the 80-year-old suffer from serious
health conditions that would make it impossible for him to
have taken part in a deadly raid, but eyewitnesses have also
presented testimonies stating that he was not among those
originally present near the Kerdasa police station on the
day of the incident.
Moreover, the prosecution's witnesses denied signing on the
written statements confirming Gabreel's participation in the
events. Nevertheless, the court ignored these documents and
decided to execute him, said AOHR detailing the background
of his case. His lawyer said he never committed any criminal
act throughout his life and that he suffers from psoriasis
and cannot walk long distances, which makes it impossible
for him to participate in any criminal operations.
The executions, which are part of a wider campaign of
repression against all critics of the Egyptian regime, have
been met with condemnation. "These executions in these
blessed days indicate the extent to which this regime has
reached in terms of criminality, recklessness, and defiance
of all standards and values upon which societies are built,"
said Dr Maha Azzam, president of the Egyptian Revolutionary
Council in a joint statement with the Egyptian People's
Democratic Party
Their statement called on the masses of Egyptians to
continue peaceful resistance and employ methods of civil
disobedience and revolution against the military coup led by
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
In a sign of the growing concern over rising
authoritarianism in Egypt, last week a coalition of 14 of
the leading human rights groups and NGOs, including Amnesty
International and Human Rights Watch, called on the US not
to waive the human rights conditions that apply to the $1.3
billion aid package to Egypt.

Is Police Reform Possible with Existing Concepts?
by Sis. Aisha
[Jamaat al-Muslimeen]
On April 21, 2021, Ma'khia Bryant, 16 years old, was shot
and killed by Officer Nicholas Reardon during a fight with
two other girls. This shooting occurred a few hours after
the guilty verdict against former officer Derek Chauvin in
George Floyd's murder. There were six murders of unarmed
Black people by law enforcement within a few days after the
guilty verdict.
Could this be revenge by law enforcement for this guilty
verdict? It has happened before. Law enforcement had to show
its power while a black man was President. The message sent
was that the white supremacy rules, even when a Black person
is President. Unfortunately, President Barack Obama caved
and behaved more like a White House butler than the leader
of the Free World, which is supposedly a highly coveted
position.
What do former law enforcement officers think?
I was watching "Black Men Screaming," a public access cable
show, and although it is curiously titled, I watched for a
few minutes. The panel consisted of Terrance Wansley, a
retired NYPD Detective, and Darryl Hell, a composer.
Terrance Wansley stated that the policeman's power lies in
the public's having to comply with his demands unless it is
to do something criminal. He said that not complying with an
officer's command should be decriminalized. Many shootings
are justified by high-ranking officers simply because the
suspect did not comply.
The second issue is with the phrase, "excessive force."
Community Cop Show host Michael Greys says that excessive
force is not the real issue. The question is if the measures
taken were "necessary." Excessive force means that the act
was the normal course of action taken but, more than needed.
However, questioning the necessity of an act forces people
to determine if it should have taken place at all.
The third issue is the false belief that the response to
police criminality is to re-train police officers. Community
Cop Show host Noel Leader says it angers him when people
accept this proposal. Leader says the real issue is that
police officers commit crimes with impunity, which go
unpunished! How would re-training police officers prevent
them from committing crimes? He says what would make police
officers reconsider committing crimes is seeing criminal
cops severely punished.
The consensus among Black law enforcement officers is for
the public to hold elected officials, including district
attorneys, accountable for their lack of action against
criminal cops. For instance, in New York City, it is illegal
for anyone to use the f_bomb against a police officer. Mayor
Rudolph Giuliani pushed this legislation.
Police officers have too much arbitrary power but, they have
even more support from politicians, from all of racial
backgrounds. The protests need to lead to city hall, not the
precincts.

Who will Police the Police?
[NPR]
After David Crawford left his job as the police chief of
Laurel, Md., in 2010, he spent the next decade nursing
grudges and setting fires to punish others, investigators
say. In a stunning turn of events, Crawford, a law
enforcement veteran, is now under arrest and facing dozens
of charges in connection to at least 12 fires at homes,
garages and cars.
Crawford was a "serial arsonist," according to the Prince
George's County Fire/EMS Department. It adds that
investigators' suspicions about Crawford were confirmed when
a search of his house turned up a " target list" of fire
victims on his cellphone.
Crawford, 69, was denied bond at a bail review hearing
Thursday morning, Howard County Police Chief Lisa Myers said
at a news conference.
The charges against Crawford include 12 counts of 1st-degree
attempted murder - because many of the victims were clearly
at home when the fires were lit, officials say.
Former Laurel, Md., police chief David Crawford is under
arrest, facing dozens of criminal charges related to a
string of arson attacks on homes and garages.
"All of the fires were at night. In six of the arsons, the
victim and their families were inside their homes asleep,"
the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department said.
Taken together, the arson victims map out elements of
Crawford's personal and professional life. They include
another former Laurel police chief and two other former law
enforcement officials, along with a former city official in
Laurel. Also on the list: a pair of Crawford's relatives,
two of his former doctors and someone who lives in his
neighborhood.
One man was targeted three separate times: a fire hit his
townhouse in Clarksburg, Md., on Sept. 5 , 2016, then
another struck the same address one year later. After the
man and his wife moved to a new home in the same town, a
third fire was lit in November of 2020, according to the
charging document.
The records identify the man as Crawford's stepson, adding
that the two had a "strained" relationship that was marked
by arguments.

Reward of Feeding a Fasting Person
The PROPHET ﷺ said...
" Whoever feeds the person who is breaking
his fast, he will have his reward
(for his fasting) without decreasing anything
from the reward of the fasting person."

ALLAH~ [May HE be glorified and exalted] says...
'one of the characteristics of the believers who deserve
Paradise is that they feed others...'{!}
ALLAH ~ [Azza wa Jal ] says ~ "And they give food, in spite
of their love for it [or for the love of Him]~ to the '
Miskeen' [the Poor]~ the Orphan, and the Captive,
saying...
'We feed you seeking Allah's ( عزّ
وجلّ) Countenance only.
We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.
'Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful,
that will make the faces look horrible [from extreme dislike
to it]..'
So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and
gave them 'Nadhrah' [a light of beauty] and joy .
And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments,
because they were patient"
[Source: 'Qur'an'~ Surat 'Al-Insaan' ~76~ A #'s 8 - 12]
The Prophet [Sal Allahu 'Alaihi wa Sallam]
informed us in the 'Hadith' above that whoever gives food
to a fasting person to break his Fast will have a reward
like his without the fasting person losing any
reward...{!}
So, during the month of 'Ramadan' [and even during other months]
it is very virtuous and rewarding to feed others
who are breaking their fast...{!}
It is also very virtuous and rewarding to feed others in general.
The PROPHET ﷺ said....
" You will not enter Paradise until you truly believe,
and you will not truly believe until you love one another."
[Source ~ Sahih Muslim]
Ibn Rajab (Allah have mercy upon him) said in al-Fath
(1/43):
"The 'Hadith' (mentioned above) makes the connection between
feeding others and spreading 'Salaam' because this combines
two good actions in both word and deed, which is perfect
good treatment ('Ihsan') Indeed, this is the best thing that
one can do in Islam after the obligatory duties."
A Little Note...
Many 'Hadiths' are reported regarding the virtues of providing
food for others to break their fast. Feeding others in general brings
a great reward to the one who does it...!
ALLAH~ (May HE be glorified and exalted ) states...
that one of the characteristics of the Believers who deserve
Paradise is that they feed others.

"Never Despair Of The Mercy Of Allah"
Hadith of the Week
Narrated by Anas, r.a.:
A funeral procession passed in front of the Prophet and the
people praised the deceased. The Prophet said, "It has been
affirmed (Paradise)." Then another funeral procession passed
by and the people talked badly of the deceased. The Prophet
said, "It has been affirmed (Hell)." Allah's Apostle was
asked, "O Allah's Apostle! You said it has been affirmed for
both?" The Prophet said, "The testimony of the people (is
accepted), (for) the believers are Allah's witnesses on the
earth."

Protesters shot dead by police at Bangladesh power plant
The incident took place on Saturday as workers were
demanding a pay rise at a Chinese-backed coal-fired power
plant.
17 Apr 2021
At least five people have been shot dead and dozens injured
when police opened fire at workers demanding a pay rise at a
Chinese-backed coal-fired power plant in southeast
Bangladesh.
They were protesting over unpaid wages, working hours and
alleged discrimination.
Azizul Islam, Banshkhali police chief, said about 2,000
protesters threw rocks and bricks at police, who responded
with gunfire on Saturday.
Four bodies with bullet wounds were taken to Banshkhali's
main hospital, a doctor there said, adding that 12 wounded
were being treated.
Police confirmed the death of one more protester and
injuries to 19 people, including three policemen, who were
taken to a hospital in Chittagong.
The $2.4bn power plant, located 265km (165 miles) southeast
of the capital, Dhaka, is a main source of foreign
investment in Bangladesh, and one of a series of projects
Beijing is pushing to cultivate closer ties with Dhaka.
Covid Disaster Surging in India.
World's Worst Outbreak.
[Via Dr. T.]
A fire in a COVID-19 hospital ward in western India killed
18 patients as the country grappling with the world's worst
outbreak stepped up a vaccination drive for all adults even
though some states say they do not have enough jabs.
India on Saturday set yet another daily global record with
401,993 new coronavirus cases, taking its tally to more than
19.1 million. Another 3,523 people died in the past 24
hours, raising the overall deaths to 211,853, according to
the health ministry. Experts believe both figures are an
undercount.
The fire broke out in a COVID-19 ward on the ground floor
and was extinguished within an hour, police said. The cause
was being investigated.
It started around midnight in the intensive care ward of the
Patel Welfare Hospital, a designated COVID-19 facility, in
Bharuch city, 185km (115 miles) north of the state's main
commercial city, Ahmedabad.
"Sixteen patients and two staff members have died in the
fire. Twelve of them died due to fire and smoke," said RV
Chudasama, a superintendent of police in Bharuch.
"Preliminary investigation shows the fire was caused because
of a short circuit."
But Dushyant Patel, a state government official, said
leakage from an oxygen cylinder in the intensive care unit
started the blaze.
Local news channels showed footage of a hospital ward
completely destroyed.
"There was a lot of chaos because of the scale of the fire
... Hospital staff rushed my family members out from the
ward and we used our car to take them to another hospital,"
said Parth Gandhi, whose two relatives, both COVID-19
patients, escaped the disaster.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a tweet he was "pained
by the loss of lives due to a fire at a hospital in
Bharuch".
Rallies for Jerusalem and al-Aqsa
Middle East Monitor
Mass rallies were held in the besieged Gaza Strip today in
support of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque after the Muslim
Holy site witness a week of Israeli offensives and
attacks.
Protesters also condemned Palestinian Authority President
Mahmoud Abbas' decision to postpone the parliamentary
election which was due to take place on 22 May.
Participants raised the Hamas flag and affirmed their
support for Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, and Palestinian
Mourabitoun who confront the daily Israeli attacks against
the holy sites.
Hamas leader Mushir Al-Masri said the Palestinian people are
facing a chapter in its ongoing battle with the occupation
in Jerusalem, indicating that this battle targets the
existence and identity of Jerusalem, and the attempt to
displace its people, desecrate its sanctities, Judaise it
and abolish its Arab identity.

them from their own land
Al-Masri praised the victory of the Jerusalemites who
revolted against the occupation and succeeded in removing
barriers the occupation had placed at Damascus Gate.
This victory, he continued, should have boosted the
Palestinian Authority to impose "the national electoral
agenda and will on the enemy and not to flee".
He accused Abbas of going against the will of the people by
stopping the election.

For Dawut, like many others, the ordeal started with a call
from the police.
In March 2018, she was at home in Urumqi, the capital of
Xinjiang, when she was told to report to a local station.
She was led to a cold basement and tied by her wrists and
ankles to a metal chair. Over the next 24 hours, she was
interrogated about calls to and from her cellphone and about
bank transactions she had made, according to her account.
After a day, she was moved — black hood over her head,
still shackled — in a police van to a medical center
and then on to a detention camp. She said she was forced to
change into prison clothes in front of men.
Eventually, she was taken to a cramped cell filled with so
many women that they had to lie down in shifts, she said. By
day, they were forced to recite propaganda and praise
Chinese leader Xi.
She was held for 62 days, a stay that might have been
longer, she believes, had her husband not been pressing
Pakistani diplomats for help to obtain her release.
[Abortions, IUDs and sexual humiliation: Muslim women who

When she was let go, she was forced to sign documents
agreeing not to practice her religion and not to tell anyone
what had happened in the camp.
After her detention, she was forced to pay a fine of more
than $2,500 for breaking China's family planning rules by
having three, not two, children.
She was then told the government was offering her a free,
surgical sterilization — a procedure she did not want
but was terrified to refuse lest she be detained again.
On Oct. 22, 2018, a local official escorted her to the
hospital, and she underwent surgery.
Dawut wept recalling the operation and thinking of the
fourth child she longed for but would never have. "They want
the extinction of Uighurs," she said.
