The curious behaviors of Americans: Why do People buy so
much Toilet paper in preparation for a crisis?
Why do they love dogs and liquor?
by Kaukab Siddique
People in large numbers are behaving as if there is no
Coronavirus scare.
My wife and I went to Wegman's yesterday. This is a large
grocery store in Maryland. While my wife looks around for
household goods and supplies , I eat health related foods
from the deli. They have kale, spinach, cucumbers, onions,
mushrooms, brown rice and macaroni with crabs, After that I
relax and drink decaffeinated coffee with a cookie. [Very
satisfying. Reasonable prices.]
After a while my wife comes back from the other end of this
huge store and tells me that the entire paper products
section is sold out. How could such a large store have run
out of toilet paper? Why are they buying so much toilet
paper?
My wife has a theory about the desperate search people have
for toilet paper but I still can't understand. I told her, I
will ask my readers.
My other pet peeve is the American love of dogs. I can
understand dogs for shepherding or for security or for
finding the bodies of dead women whom Americans have
murdered [watch Oxygen or ID].but why would people keep two
little dogs in a small apartment? Even Black people have
started walking around with dogs.
Fortunately there are leash laws. When a dog comes barking
and rushing towards me, I tell the owner, "sorry I don't
like dogs" and they look at me like I'm crazy. And another
real put off for them is when I say I prefer cats. The owner
usually tries to coerce me into liking their dog by saying
"but this is a nice dog, she loves people".
Add to the toilet paper and the dogs, the love of liquor.
Everyone, just about, drinks. Why? I don't know. But
the Coronavirus scare is also closing the liquor stores and
casinos in Maryland, Pennsylvania and possibly all over the
country.

JI says: Imran Regime Supporting IMF
move to Attack Islamic Schools.
by Qaiser Sharif
LAHORE: MAR 12: Expressing regret over the step-motherly
treatment of the government with religious seminaries,
Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has demanded the
allocation of educational funds in the annual budget to the
Madaris as well along with universities and colleges.
The rulers, he said while addressing the students of Darul
Uloom Mansoora here on Thursday, were bent upon taking full
control of the institutions of Islamic education on the
dictation of the IMF and western powers. To achieve the
purpose, he added, the ministers were issuing poisonous
statements against Madaris on daily basis. He advised the
rulers to avoid attacking the seminaries which were
providing free of cost education, food and shelter to over
3.5 million students and acting as a biggest NGO in the
country. He demanded the government fulfill its promise of
equal curriculum across the country and generously allocate
funds for the religious seminaries.
The JI chief said that the prime minister was only making
emotional statements and hollow claims practically handing
over the control of the government to mafias and
international lending agencies. The ground situation about
inflation, he said, was also contrary to the prime minister
claim that prices of essential commodities witnessed a sharp
decline in past few weeks. He urged the government to get
rid of the interest based economy if it was interested in
the betterment of the masses and put the country on the path
of the development. People of Pakistan, he said, were seemed
more worried about the inflation and unemployment than that
of spread of coronavirus.
Senator Siraj said religious scholars must play their role
to turn the country into an Islamic welfare state and
guiding and uniting the nation. He also urged them to
highlight in their sermons the evils of corruption in the
society.
JI leader Maulana Abdul Malik, Hafiz Idrees and Hafiz Sajid
Anwar also addressed on occasion.

The Pakistani military labels its losses as martyrs and the
mujahideen as terrorists. In Islam, martyrs are those
fighting for Islam. For a very long time, Pakistani military
has not lost any soldier fighting India in Kashmir or
elsewhere.. This misuse of the word "martyr" for army men
who are fighting Islamic groups is a form of blasphemy using
the holy concept of Islam to describe those who are deceasd
fighting Muslim opponents.

CHINA
Nike Reviewing China Supply Chain After Report on Uighur
Abuse.
Nike Inc. said it's reviewing its supply chain in China to
assess potential risks involving workers from the country's
Uighur Muslim minority after allegations of forced labor.
A Washington Post story last month described the plight of
ethnic Uighurs from China's western Xinjiang region, who
were detained and sent to factories that produce athletic
gear. A report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute
also estimated that more than 80,000 Uighurs were sent to
work in the supply chains of a range of well-known global
brands including Nike "under conditions that strongly
suggest forced labor."
The Trump administration has repeatedly criticized China for
what the United Nations says is the detention of as many as
1 million mostly Uighur Muslims. Nike has also become a
target, with Vice President Mike Pence last year citing the
company as an example of an American multinational "that
willfully ignores the abuse of human rights" in China.
China's foreign ministry earlier this month called the
reports about forced labor "simply baseless" and designed to
"smear China's counter-terrorism and de-radicalization
measures in Xinjiang." Late last year the government said it
completed what it called de-radicalization training and that
the "students" had all "graduated."
In a statement on its website, Nike said that while it does
not "directly source products from the Xinjiang Uighur
Autonomous Region," the company was looking into how
suppliers rely on Uighurs elsewhere.
"We have been conducting ongoing diligence with our
suppliers in China to identify and assess potential risks
related to employment of people from XUAR," the company
said. "Nike is committed to upholding international labor
standards and we are continuing to evaluate how to best
monitor our compliance standards in light of the complexity
of this situation."
The Beaverton, Oregon-based company said it's working with
trade groups such as the Retail Industry Leaders
Association, American Apparel & Footwear Association and
National Retail Federation, and stands behind a statement
they released on Tuesday.
"As an industry representing brands and retailers, we do not
tolerate forced labor in our supply chains," the groups said
in the letter.

For Those Undergoing Difficulties !
{'Subhan Allah'}
~The Prophet [Sal Allaahu 'Alayhi Wasallaam]
Guidance in Treating Afflictions.
And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear,
hunger, loss of
wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to
As-Sâbirin [patient ones]
Who, when afflicted with calamity, say...
'Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'oon' {"Truly to Allâh we
belong and truly,
to Him we shall Return"}
They are those on whom are the Salawât {!} [i.e. who are
blessed and will
be forgiven) from their Lord, and they are those who receive
His Mercy,
and it is they who are the guided-ones.]
{Source~ Qur'an~ Surat Al-Baqarah 2~ Ayah # 's~155-157.}
Ibn Al-Qayyim (R) mentioned the Hadeeth of Al-Istirja' &
said:
"This expression is one of the most effective and most beneficial
treatments for one who is afflicted by calamities". because
it contains two
fundamental principles, which if they are realized, the
slave will be
consoled thereby from his calamity ! The first of them is
that:
The slave and his wealth belong to ALLAH and HE has given it
to him as
a loan...{!} The second of them is that: The return is
to ALLAH and it is
inevitable that he will leave the life of this world
behind...{!}... so if this is
his beginning and his end, then his thinking about them is
one of the
greatest treatments for this illness and a part of his
treatment is that he
knows that ...what was ordained to afflict him cannot miss
him and
what was ordained to miss him cannot afflict him...{!} And a
part of it is
that his Lord has set aside for him the like of that which
he missed
or better and HE has stored up for him that which is many
times better
than the calamity and that if HE willed HE could have made
the calamity
greater than it was...{!}
Another part of it is HIS extinguishing the fire of his
misfortune by the
coolness of comfort and consolation, so he should look to
his right and to
his left [at the world around him] and he should know that
the pleasures of
this life are an illusion, though they may cause him to
laugh a little,
they will cause him to weep much...{!}
Also a part of it is the knowledge that discontent does not
alleviate the
misfortune... indeed it increases it ...!
And another part of it is :The knowledge that losing the
reward which
ALLAH has guaranteed for patience and 'Istirja' is greater
than it...{!}
Another part of the treatment is the knowledge that
discontent causes his
enemy to take pleasure and grieves his friend and makes his
Lord Angry.
Yet another part of it is the knowledge that the pleasure
which follows
patient perseverance and the expectation of ALLAH'S Reward is
many times greater than that which he would have experienced
from the thing which he lost, if it had remained with him.
Another part of it is that he should soothe his heart by seeking
recompense for it from ALLAH.
And a part of it is the knowledge that his reaction to the
calamity will determine what happens to him...{!} for whoever accepts
[ALLAH'S
'Qadar'] ALLAH will be pleased with him and whoever
is angry at it... ALLAH will be Angry with him.
Also a part of the treasure is the knowledge that even if he
was patient
sometime after the calamity struck, that being the patience
of one who is
resigned... that is not praiseworthy and it is not
rewarded...{!}
And another part of it is the knowledge that one of the most
effective
medicines is the success granted by ALLAH in attaining that
which HE
loves and which is pleasing to HIM and that it is the
essence of love.
Another part of it is for him to compare between the greater
and the lesser
of the two pleasures... between the pleasure which he enjoys
due to
[ his acceptance of ] the calamity which befell him and the
pleasure which
he enjoys due to the reward of ALLAH. [which he receives due
to his
acceptance and patient perseverance] And a part of it is the
knowledge
that the ONE who puts him to trial is The Best of
Judges...{!}
{Alhamdullilah} and the Most Merciful of those who show
mercy
and that HE has not subjected him to misfortune in order
to destroy him, but in order to test him and to hear
entreaties and see him prostrating at HIS door {!}
Another part of it is the knowledge that misfortunes are a
means of
preventing sickness which will cause his destruction, such
as pride,
arrogance, and hardness of heart, still another part of it is
the knowledge
that the Bitterness of this life is the Sweetness of the
Afterlife
and Vice Versa {!}
And if this is not apparent to you, examine the words of the
truthful one,
whose words are believed.... " Paradise is surrounded by
hardships and
the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations." {2}
And in this matter, the minds of mankind are at fault and
the reality of men
is made clear ... [that they prefer the temporary pleasures
of this world
to the everlasting pleasures of the Hereafter]

Hadith of the Week
Narrated by Anas, r,a,:
The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three
qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:
The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than
anything else.
Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's
sake.
Who hates to revert to Atheism and disbelief as he hates
to be thrown into the fire."

Palestinian Family Forced to Demolish its Home in Jerusalem
A Palestinian family from the Shuafat refugee camp in
occupied Jerusalem demolished its own home today after it
was forced to do so by the Israeli municipality.
Tareq Mohammad Ali said he was forced, along with his
family, to demolish their own home at the order of the
Israeli High Court, under the pretext it was built without a
permit.
Ali said he had no option but to embark on the demolition in
order to avoid paying unreasonable demolition costs to the
Israeli municipality.
Palestinians in Jerusalem are forced to build without a
permit because getting a building permit is impossible as
the right-wing mayor and city council attempt to keep the
city's Palestinian population at a bare minimum while
multiplying its Jewish residents by approving the
construction of thousands of new housing units in illegal
Jewish settlements.
According to the human rights group B'tselem, "over the
years, Israel has demolished hundreds of houses as part of
this policy, leaving thousands of Palestinians
homeless".
This policy was widely condemned by human rights groups as
it violates binding provisions of international law.

Chelsea Manning Refused to be Intimidated.
FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday
ordered the release of former Army intelligence analyst
Chelsea Manning, who has been incarcerated since May for
refusing to testify to a grand jury.
U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga ordered Manning's release
from jail after prosecutors reported that the grand jury
that subpoenaed her has disbanded.
The judge left in place more than $256,000 in fines he
imposed for her refusal to testify to the grand jury, which
is investigating WikiLeaks. The fines had been accumulating
at a rate of $1,000 a day.
A hearing in the case that had been scheduled for Friday has
now been canceled. Manning had argued that she had shown
through her prolonged stay at the Alexandria jail that she
proved she could not be coerced into testifying and
therefore should be released.
On Wednesday, her lawyers said she attempted suicide while
at the jail.
Manning was held since May for refusing to testify before a
grand jury investigating Wikileaks. She spent an additional
two months in jail earlier in 2019 for refusing to testify
to a separate grand jury.
She could have faced nearly six more months of jail time if
the grand jury had continued its work. The civil contempt
citation was designed to coerce her testimony.
The University of Toledo Law Review is about to publish the
attached article called "The Saran Wrap of Complicity:
Finding Guilt after an Ohio Prison Uprising" concerning the
capital convictions of five men for their alleged roles in
the 1993 "Lucasville riot."
We think this essay breaks ground in the following ways:
We highlight the fact that the Ohio Supreme Court and the
Ohio Bar Association created a Joint Task Force which in its
report recommended two changes in the law that, if
implemented, would ensure that the five men sentenced to
death for their alleged roles as leaders of the Lucasville
uprising should not be executed.
We show how the murders were attributed to the supposed
"leaders" without objective evidence linking them to the
deaths of the victims.
Ohio statutory law punishes "conspiracy" with a maximum
sentence of 25 years, although "complicity" in carrying out
a conspiracy can be punished with death.
Unlike previous legal arguments directed to the case of
one or another of the individual "leaders," this approach
envelops all the capital convictions resulting from the
uprising.
The men convicted and sentenced to death in the aftermath of
the "Lucasville riot" will have been locked down in
segregation, on death row, or in supermaximum security
confinement for 27 years as of April 2020.
