Hadith of the Week

The Blessing of Paying a Debt, even when the Debtor shows no mercy.

Narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah,r.a.:
My father died and was in debt. I suggested that his creditors take the fruits (i.e. dates) of my garden in lieu of the debt of my father, but they refused the offer, as they thought that it would not cover the full debt. So, I went to the Prophet and told him about it. He said (to me), "When you pluck the dates and collect them in the Mirbad (i.e. a place where dates are dried), call me (Allah's Apostle)." Finally he came accompanied by Abu Bakr and 'Umar and sat on the dates and invoked Allah to bless them. Then he said, "Call your creditors and give them their full rights." So, I paid all my father's creditors in full and yet thirteen extra Wasqs of dates remained, seven of which were 'Ajwa and six were Laun or six of which were Ajwa and seven were Laun. I met Allah's Apostle at sunset and informed him about it. On that he smiled and said, "Go to Abu Bakr and 'Umar and tell them about it." They said, "We perceived that was going to happen, as Allah's Apostle did what he did."

 Call to Action

Islamic Call Society
by Shaikh Hyder, Canada

The aim of this society after it is formed is to spread the message of Allah from he Qur'an and the aim is to spread the teachings of Muhammad, pbuh.

For this purpose I have an Urdu book titled KHUTBAT by Maulana Maudoodi, rahimullah.

I want to translate in the English language somre small booklets for the English speaking people.

Today I was given a chance to speak about this project to about 200 seniors and they supported me. I have a translator too.

[New Trend urges readers in Canada to support this project.]

 Palestine

Palestine

Palestinians Not Giving Up: Hundreds of Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Friday flocked to the security fence to participate in the weekly anti-occupation protests -- known as the Great March of Return.

Protesters from across the Gaza Strip headed to the eastern areas of the coastal enclave raising the Palestinian flags.

The spokesman of Hamas group Hazem Qasem said in a statement that "the Great March of Return reflects the will of our people and expresses the conscience of the Palestinian national movement."

Almost 270 protesters have been martyred -- and thousands more wounded -- by Israeli forces at the security fence areas with Gaza since the Gaza rallies began in March last year.

Demonstrators demand an end to Israel's 12-year-old blockade to the Gaza Strip, which has shattered the coastal enclave's economy and deprived its two million inhabitants of free movement in and out from Gaza and prevented many basic amenities.

Muslims Denied Rights in their Own Country

 Africa

By Abdulkab Oyemomi

The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, being the grand-norm of the laws of this country, provides for individual's rights. But Muslims are being precluded and denied access to many of these rights persistently and nothing is done to address it, even though Muslims are the majority amongst those at the corridors of power at various levels.

Access to loan in Nigeria is a big problem for Muslim entrepreneurs. Businesses in this country are not made for us to thrive at all. It is a common knowledge that Islam does not allow usury of any form as explicitly stated in the book of Allah, yet the sweetest thing in the mouth of even a Muslim in custody of National loan is that the interest is so small! Who cares about the quantum of the interest?

Phenomenally, Hijab issue here is a matter of crying than the bereaved . Non Muslims and indeed many hypocritical Muslims in positions of authority have taken matters of Hijab as a fierce war against the users. This is clearly inconsistent with the provision of the laws of the country, but the lawyers are ready to cunningly twist the law, especially non Muslim lawyers. This ,clearly, does not need Golden Rule to for interpretation .

The writer is particular about access to loan for Muslims that are not willing to partake in a loan that is attached to usury or anything related to this. The government should henceforth put us in consideration whenever reaching out to Nigerians in this regard. For instance, there is a recent Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)'s directive to all banks in Nigeria to make 60% of their funds available for loan to Nigerians. That is a development that a conscious Muslim will never benefit from!

The Federal Government under Muhammadu Buhari is hereby called upon to look into various discrepancies like these for even distribution of resources accruable to all of us as Nigerians. You cannot have Nigeria being insinuated as Islamized when the truth is games to take away our Islam from us are underway..

Latest Khutba

 Jummah Khutba

Minority Concept is Deadly.
Case of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Role of Islamic Women is key.

On November 1, Br. Kaukab Siddique gave the Juma Khutba at Masjid Jamaat al-Muslimeen. The Masjid was full of men but there were few women. Security was in place.

Here is an outline of the Khutba:
Text #1:
Be not like those who are divided amongst themselves and fall into disputations after receiving Clear Signs: For them is a dreadful penalty,- [The Qur'an 3:105]
Text #2:
By the fig and the olive and by Mount Sinai and this City made Secure & Peaceful. [95:1-3]

  1. Muslims in America, and western countries in general, often consider themselves minorities and thus a tiny part of the population.

  2. As minorities, they are usually involved in issues of Fiqh [jurisprudence] and busy themselves with intricacies of purity, purification, prayer, fasting and charity. Some of them go on Hajj but merely as a matter of ritual and self-righteousness.

  3. Engrossed in internal debates and disputation, these Muslims have little independent study and perspective of the global ummah. Hence they are easily influenced by the major media which are largely corporate and Zionist.

  4. By contrast the Qur'an and authentic hadith have forbidden sects and internal disputation. The fiqhi habits of US Muslims have excluded themselves from the ability to influence American and NATO's military, political and economic strategies.

    1. Scholars as diverse as Ibn Taymiyya and Zamakhshari have indicated that the FIG and the OLIVE in sura 95 are not about real fruits but about Syria and Palestine. The fig was the major crop in Syria and the olive in Palestine.

    2. Maulana Maudoodi points out that those classical scholars were correct because the verses following fig and olive are about Mount Sinai and Makka itself. Thus Islam was INTERNATIONALIST right from the beginning. It is not a national or localized religion. [1]

  5. The western powers give total support to Israel and have been bombing and killing Muslims in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan,Pakistan, Somalia, Nigeria and western Africa. Islamic response from Muslims in the West is near ZERO. The tragic Kashmir situation is ignored by the West because India's regime is now with America.

  6. Muslims in the West easily absorb war time and atrocity propaganda aimed at denigrating and humiliating mujahideen groups.

  7. Dictators, tyrants and puppets are imposed on Muslim countries with the support of the West as we can see in key Muslim countries such as
    Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

  8. It is understandable that the West wanted to destroy the Islamic caliphate led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. A caliphate based on Quran and Sunnah will never be accepted by the West because it would undermine the entire geo-political planning of the West. What is most amazing about the power of western media is the opposition of Muslims in the West to the caliphate, to the extent that some Muslims claimed that the leaders of the caliphate were not Muslims.

    1. President Trump's story that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was scared and "whimpering" and was pursued by a dog {!} was contradicted the next day by Trump's own general. They fabricate stories about Muslims. Unfortunately many Muslims are gullible in politics and easily accept propaganda.

  9. It is true that the caliphate was flawed and committed some acts which shocked the world, such as beheadings. Scholars should have noticed that beheadings have been commonplace in western history, such as the beheading of Mary Queen of Scots. Beheadings in Saudi Arabia, an ally of USA, take place about every month. By contrast, USA and NATO have destroyed entire cities ruled by the caliphate, killing 40,000 civilians in Mosul and 18,000 in al-Raqqa. Allies of the US such as Egypt and Pakistan have killed thousands of "soft targets" in Cairo and Alexandria and Swat and Waziristan.

  10. USA provides freedom of expression and demonstration yet US Muslims are only interested in fiqhi issues.

  11. US and western suppression of Islamic thought psychologically has gone so deep that Muslims are trying to show support for lgbtq and adultery. Most are scared of using the word "jihad." Thus cultural imperialism is now coming from America into Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh, slowly but steadily.

  12. Part 2.

  13. For the renaissance of Islam in America and the West, Muslim women should be equal participants in the Islamic da'wah and masjid activities.

  14. By excluding women, or minimizing their role, we have reduced Islamic activism by half.

  15. Let us stop hiding the role od Islamic women as seen in the life of the Prophet, pbuh, and the sahaba, r.a

  16. After the first revelation, the Prophet, pbuh, came to Khadija, r.a., and she supported him, comforted him and gave him all her resources for da'wah.

  17. Ayesha, r.a., was the Companion of the Prophet, pbuh, to the final day of his life. She was scholar, teacher, orator, leader and example.

  18. The Prophet's., daughter, Ruqayya, r.a., did the first hijra to Ethiopia. which is a religious obligation second only to jihad.

  19. The prophet's daughter, Fatima, r.a., was on the battlefield at Uhud and tended to his serious injury.

  20. In the same battle, Uhud, a great Islamic woman, Umm Ammara, r.a., defended the Prophet, pbuh, with sword and shield.

  21. In the Caliphate of Abu Bakr, r.a., Umar, r.a., and Usman, r.a., hundreds of Islamic women participated in armed struggle against the empires of Rome and Persia and helped tp bring them down. The wife of Muawiyya, r.a., was in the great naval battle which sank the united fleet of Europe.

  22. Muslims in the West should protect and support Muslim women who are often threatened or harassed by non-Muslims. Women should also learn to defend themselves.

Du'a: O Allah, give health to those of us who are not well, jobs to those of who don't have jobs. Give us success in this world and in the Hereafter. Help us O Allah to study the Qur'an and hadith every day.

PAKISTAN

 Maulana Fazlur Rehman

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman gave a stern message to the government by telling it that "Your writ over Pakistan has ended...now we will peacefully run this country."

The JUI-F chief was addressing participants of the Azadi March gathering in Islamabad, Fazl said that his party was implementing the agreement that had been reached between the Rahbar Committee and the government. However, he said that the Islamabad administration had taken certain steps which had nullified the agreement.

Fazl said that his party 'will run the country by remaining peaceful'.

Maulana Fazl began addressing the participants of the march, saying that women are very much part of the march as no one has pushed them aside.

"Women are part of this protest, sitting at home and doing Zikar and prayers," he said, adding that from overall the situation it can be imagined how much hatred prevails against the incumbent government.

Iraq

Baghdad Blocked. Iranian flag Taken Down. Huge Crowds calls for Complete Change of Regime.

On November 3, a new outpouring of protests began in the Shia regions of Iraq.

The capital Baghdad is closed. All the main streets have been blocked by the protestors and they are attempting to enter heavily guarded Green Zone.

Security forces have been brutal in their attempts to crush the protests. The death toll since October is now above 250 with more tan 8000 injured. Now the police seems tired of trying to stop the protests and are just watching as the streets are blocked by the crowds. A big banner says; STREETS CLOSED BY ORDER OF THE PEOPLE.

Anti-Iran feelings have flared. Crowds took down the Iranian flag from the Consulate in Karbala and replaced it with the Iraqi flag. The pro- Iran militias have earned hatred by shooting at the crowds.

On Juma' Ayatollah Sistani , top Shia cleric, appealed for calm but the new outburst two days later indicated his appeal failed.

People now want complete change: a revolution in which Sunnis should be included.

Prison Inmates on the Front Lines Battling California Wildfires being paid $3 a day. Risking their lives and working alongside Firefighter making $350 a day! The State opposes early release programs for those Inmates because the State would lose cheap labor!

As multiple deadly wildfires in California, stoked by dry weather and 65 MPH winds, threaten to destroy thousands of homes across the state, 2,150 prison inmates are battling on the front lines to tame the flames.

The prisoners earn between $2.90 and $5.12 per day, plus an additional $1 per hour during active emergency for their potentially life-threatening efforts. The firefighters they work alongside earn an average of $91,000 each year before overtime pay and bonuses.

The Conservation Camp Program, officially established in 1945, is estimated to save California taxpayers about $100 million each year. Prisoners work on hand crews, constructing firebreaks by using tools like chainsaws and picks. During active fires, they work for 24-hour periods followed by 24 hours of rest.

Over the past 75 years, inmate firefighters have become so essential to the state's ability to effectively deal with wildfire season that in 2014, California fought court orders to apply those 2-for-1 release credits to other rehabilitation work programs. They argued that no one would want to join the fire camp if they could get the same perks doing other, low risk jobs.

"Extending 2-for-1 credits to all minimum custody inmates at this time would severely impact fire camp participation—a dangerous outcome while California is in the middle of a difficult fire season and severe drought," the Attorney General's office, then led by Senator and 2020 candidate Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) wrote. "The extension of 2-for-1 credits to all [minimum security facility] inmates would likely make fire camp beds even more difficult to fill, as low-level, non-violent inmates would choose to participate in the [Minimum Support Facility] program rather than endure strenuous physical activities and risk injury in fire camps."

An affidavit from Department of Corrections official Vimal Singh also stated that extending early release credits would "deplete the fire population."

All inmate firefighters join camps voluntarily and they are free to leave at any time, but asking prisoners to put their lives at risk for reduced sentencing is sticky moral ground said David Fathi, director of the ACLU National Prison Project.

In Fathi's experience, the majority of prisoners he's encountered want to work to break up the monotony of prison life and be productive, but, "prison is a uniquely coercive environment," he said. "There is very little in prison that is truly voluntary. There is a power differential between prisoners and their captors and employers that creates a significant risk of exploitation and abuse and we need to be alert to that."

Over the past 35 years, six incarcerated firefighters have died as a result of injuries sustained while actively working on containing a fire, according to Alexandra Powell, public information officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. But injuries abound.

More than 1,000 inmate firefighters were sent to the hospital between 2013 and 2018, according to data obtained by TIME. Incarcerated firefighters were four times more likely to suffer from object-related injuries like cuts and broken bones than other firefighters and eight times more likely to suffer from smoke and particulate inhalation than other firefighters.

There is no available data on whether prisoners suffer from smoke-inhalation related heart disease and cancers at elevated rates as other firefighters do in the years after their service, but unlike their unincarcerated coworkers, inmate firefighters do not receive extended health benefits or pensions upon retirement.

Powell says that during large scale wildfires there is a medical emergency response team waiting at base camp to provide assistance and that all prisoners are trained in basic first aid. Prisoners are also entitled to certain workers' compensation benefits for injuries sustained during work.

"Prisoners are largely unprotected by the occupational health and safety laws that protect all other workers from dangerous working conditions," said Fathi. "They're not covered by OSHA, they can't unionize to bargain for safer working conditions. When you put all of those together it makes prisoners a uniquely vulnerable workforce compared to everyone else who fights fires or does any other work in this society."

The prisoners who work at fire camps often find that they're unable to put their skills to use when they're released. The majority of firefighting jobs in the U.S., and most of the 900 fire departments in California, require employees to obtain an Emergency Medical Technician or paramedic license. In California, the majority of convicted felons can't obtain those licenses until they've been out of prison for 10 years.

The high risks of the job combined with a lack of actual career opportunities at the end of prisoners' sentences have led to a steady decline in fire camp volunteers. An internal CALFire and California Department of Corrections memo obtained by Earther shows that the number of prisoners working in camps have declined by at least 1,000 people over the past 12 years and that camps are not operating near full capacity.

There have been recent efforts to make up for the lack of job opportunities. The California Department of Corrections has recently partnered with a firefighter certification and training program in Ventura County to create an 18-month program that provides advanced training to former convicts. The $26.6 million program will train 80 parolees, but does not grant them an EMT license. Still, two participants have been offered employment with CAL Fire, said Powell. Another found work with an environmental clean-up agency.

California Assemblymember Eloise Reyes is attempting to change the rules so that prisoners' fire careers don't end upon release. She's introduced a bill that would allow former convicts to join the California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship program. The legislation is currently pending but could come to a vote as early as January.

"Reyes believes that a criminal conviction should not be a life sentence, but rather that folks that have made mistakes, and demonstrated commitment and effort to rehabilitation should have the same opportunities as everyone else," said an official who works for Reyes.

But similar bills have been shot down in years prior, and the California Professional Firefighters, a powerful union with a membership of more than 30,000, has spoken out against the plan.

CHINA: Over 1 million in concentration camps

 China

The full extent of Beijing's evil is finally coming into view. As the world watches the ongoing democratic uprising in Hong Kong, it is impossible to ignore the greater backdrop of oppression and egregious human rights abuses across China: more than 1 million religious minorities now in Xinjiang's modern-day concentration camps, vast efforts at cultural reprogramming, and regular physical torture.

Sayragul Sauytbay, a Chinese Muslim of Kazakh descent, described being separated from her family and kept in Xinjiang under heinous conditions, where prisoners were routinely punished for observing their faith and having insufficient knowledge about Chinese culture or language.

Over the last several months, the steady trickle of horrifying stories has provided a fuller picture of the kinds of evils regularly occurring within these camps. We have now heard credible accounts of relentless brainwashing, systematic sexual abuse and extensive physical punishments, like fingernails ripped out and forced abortions.

These are some of the darkest stories ever told, yet they are critical to air to the world. Now, we hear them with terrible frequency. In Congress, Nury Turkel, chair of the board for the Uyghur Human Rights Project, recently provided testimony, explaining that speaking "may cost the lives of [his] parents, but ... it's the right thing to do".

However, we must recognize that this evil is not exclusive to Xinjiang or even to the nation's Muslims, but one more consistent with the Chinese Communist party's greater philosophy. Any religion or ideology that recognizes a higher power than the party is a threat that must be brought to heel or eliminated. Political and cultural conformity must be enforced at all costs.

We see this in Xinjiang. We increasingly see it among the Hui, a separate population of Chinese Muslims with no history of radicalization, who are now regularly surveilled and repressed, and whose mosques are being stripped of their distinctive domes. We have seen it in China's numerous Christian communities, where intense persecution has forced millions to practice their religion underground.

The end goal is sinicization: the forced transformation of religious and ethnic minorities into narrow, party-approved cultural, ideological and ethnic norms. In its worst forms, it's a eugenic project, which explains why the government pressures Uyghur women to have fewer children and marry outside their ethnicity.

Most of the work to shine light on the atrocities that sinicization requires has occurred outside of the organs of American government so far. For that, we owe a debt of gratitude to individual dissidents who have escaped, diasporic minority communities, international watchdog organizations and individual researchers and journalists.

But more action is required on the part of the US government. My Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019 - which would direct our government to collect and publicize information about China's abuses in Xinjiang as well as Chinese intimidation of US citizens and legal permanent residents (LPRs) - has already passed unanimously in the Senate. The legislation urges the application of Global Magnitsky and other sanctions, a review of export controls, and the establishment of a voluntary database that American citizens and LPRs could use to provide information on missing family members.

The bill now awaits final passage in the House. It would represent an important first step at striking back against this tremendous injustice.

The international community cannot turn a blind eye to what is unfolding in Xinjiang, Tibet, Ningxia and throughout the rest of China. The Chinese Communist party's ideological commitment to totalitarianism has become mobilized into regular, brutal action, intended to forcibly assimilate anyone who dares question the Communist party's political and cultural control. Lawmakers in free capitals around the world must step up and counter this evil.
