Hadith of the Week

We must not Break people just because they lean slightly different than us - we are all flawed.

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
"Woman has been created from a rib and will in no way be straightened for you; so if you want to benefit from her, you will benefit from her while crookedness remains in her. If you attempt to straighten her, you will break her, and breaking her is divorcing her."

Jamaat al-Muslimeen Activity in Washington, DC.

Muslims Want the REAL news: not the daily diet of fake news.

On April 6, at the beautiful Islamic Center on Massachusetts Avenue in Washington, DC, a 7-page Jamaat document was given to 125 Muslims after Friday prayers. Among the Muslims here are the elite of the community including embassy workers and World Bank employees. Perhaps they are tired of the high school level khutbas at the Center and hence were receptive to Jamaat information.

Here is an outline of the 7-page document given to 125 Muslims:

  1. Love & respect to reconnect with Bangladesh. [Br. Kaukab]

  2. Khadim Hussain Rizvi. New face of Islam in Pakistan. [Pak video]

Police Murder in Brooklyn, New York.
1000 People Protest.

by Br. Abu Talib
Jamaat al-Muslimeen

On April the 4th the Police shot down unarmed Saheed Vassell in Crown Heights, Brooklyn

Saheel Vassell was unarmed and mentally ill and we was well known throughout the neighorhood and even by the police. He used to help the people in the Community there.

He was killed by a hail of bullets, according to witnesses by the Police,

What is so ironic is that he died on the day of assassination of Maritn Luther King, April the 4th.

Its seems that nothing has changed after fifty years of the assassination of Martin Luther king for African Americans in this country, The people in the Community are very mad of this murder especially the youth who live there.

There was a rally and march at the corner near which he was killed.

There were several people who spoke. These were community activists who have been dealing with this issue for many years [killing by the Police and there is no accountability].

Then there was a March to the 71st Precinct where the masses of the people, mostly white and some of the people from the area there were about a thousand people there in the streets chanting many slogans. There were people from different organizations also.

I did not see any Muslim organizations though there are lots of Mosques in Brooklyn

We as Muslim must get involved with the people. We have to come out of the Mosque and meet the people.

The struggle continues

Muslim Woman Stabbed in Apparant Hate-Driven Roadside Attack.

[Courtesy Sis. Teresa]
A 31-year-old Houston woman was stabbed in the arm in a roadside attack apparently motivated by anti-Muslim hate, and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the attacker's arrest and conviction.

According to the Houston chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the group offering the reward, the assault took place early Thursday morning.

The woman, who is white and wears an Islamic head scarf, or hijab, was driving home from her nursing job when her vehicle was nearly sideswiped by a red SUV.

Rattled, she pulled over and got out of her vehicle to check for damage when the SUV made a U-turn and pulled up behind her.

The SUV driver allegedly got out of the vehicle and began screaming obscenities and racial and religious slurs at the woman. She tried to get back into her vehicle through the passenger side, but the door was locked.

The attacker then allegedly waved a knife in her face, hitting her with the knife handle on her shoulder and arms. Eventually, he stabbed the woman in the arm, severing an artery and staining himself with blood in the process.

A passenger in the SUV got out of the vehicle and attempted to restrain the attacker, eventually getting him to climb back in the car and leave the scene.

The woman returned to the hospital where she worked and was treated for her wound.

The two men in the SUV are described as white males between 20 and 35 years old. The attacker had tattoos on his arms and neck.

The Harris County sheriff's office is investigating the case.

Latest Khutba

 Dr Kaukab Siddique

Finality of Prophethood. False prophets, Dajjals, can be serious distractions. Unity of Ummah is Required.

Br. Kaukab Siddique gave the Juma' khutba at masjid Jamaat al-Muslimeen on April 6. The prayer was well attended. Several brothers have now joined the security group. A sister complained to the brother that her grandson had been arrested and she is too old to even go to the grocery store without his help. So Br. Siddique called the police chief and after several weeks of rigmarole the youth was allowed to go to his grandma's home with an ankle monitor. [Masjid helps in some cases.]

Here is an outline of the khutba:

Text #1:
Anas bin Malik, r.a. narrates from the Prophet (Peace be upon him) who said: The Messengership and Prophethood have ended and there will be no Messenger and Prophet after me [Sunan Tirmdhi, Hadith # 2274

Text #2:
Abu Huraira, r.a., reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The Last Hour would not come "UNTIL after THERE WOULD ARISE ABOUT THIRTY [dajjals] IMPOSTERS, LIARS, AND EACH ONE OF THEM WOULD CLAIM THAT HE IS A MESSENGER OF ALLAH" [Book 041, Number 6988: (Sahih Muslim), Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 88, Number 237]

  1. Islam is a complete way of life. All aspects of life are taught in the Qur'an with their interpretation and implementation in sahih hadith . Avenues are left open for independent judgement [ijtihad[ as long as they do not break with the Islamic paradigm.

  2. The Prophet's, pbuh, example is the best example and no one is comparable to him in the completeness of his example.

  3. The Qur'an has made it absolutely clear that Muhammad, pbuh, is the seal of the prophets. There will be no prophets or messengers after him. This rules out all who claim to be prophets after him.

  4. Hadith tells us that there will be 30 false prophets or deceivers [dajjal after him.

  5. We must always begin with the Qur'an, then go to authentic hadith and then do ijtihad which does not violate Qur'an and hadith.

    Part 2

  6. Forces of evil are dominating America. We have:

    1. Liquor, gambling and fornication
    2. Racism.
    3. Homosexuality
    4. Zionism.
    5. Imperialism, occupation and exploitation
    6. Drugs. [Overdoses have killed about 60,000 young people.
    7. Police brutality
    8. Domestic violence and crimes against women.
    9. Pornography.
    10. Widespread crimes against children.

  7. We must be united. Live clean, honest lives and give the message of truth to the people in a loving kind ways.

  8. Be trustworthy. Be strong against the oppressors but kind to the oppressed.

  9. Study the Qur'an and hadith every day.

  10. Marry those who will stand for Islam

O Allah forgive our sins and shortcomings.

Assad's Genocidal Actions Against Douma City.
Fighting in Hama, Homs, Daraa provinces.
Turkey Advancing towards Manbig..

April 6-8. The regime of Assad with Russian air force, Iranian Artillery and Hizb ground forces has been pulverizing Douma city on the outskirts of Damascus. The regime was irked by the reluctance of Jaysh al-Islam to move out of Douma to the Turkish area in the extreme north of Syria. The Russian methodology is to bomb the entire population, making civil life impossible. Five hundred pound bombs, barrel bombs, ground-to-ground missiles and long range artillery were used.

The result: 96 civilians killed, including 27 children and 16 women. More than 500 were wounded. {SOHR].

However when the Shia army advanced into the farms around Douma, Jaysh al-Islam fighters came out of cover and fought the invaders. Before the Shia force was repulsed, 26 of them were killed as were 12 of the Jaysh.

So on Saturday evening, the frustrated Shia regime let loose a huge chemical attack. The casualties are high but have not yet been computed.

Latest reports indicate that Jaysh has agreed to move to the north with their weapons if the Russians agree to guarantee the safety of the civilian populations. [It appears that Jaysh has a good number of supporters of Assad locked up and there might be an exchange]

Meanwhile on April 8, the Russians bombed Islamic areas north of Hama and regime forces shelled areas east of Daraa city.

In Homs province and western Aleppo province, regime forces were hit by Tahrir [al-Nusra]

In eastern Deir ez Zor, ISIS is advancing against Assad's forces in the desert area.

Two Juma'ahs at the DC Islamic Center: Hashing and Re-Hashing Hasad (Envy)
By Nadrat Siddique
Washington, DC April 6, 2018

I performed juma'ah prayers for the last two weeks at the DC Islamic Center. Located on Embassy Row, ICDC, as it is known, is rather unusual as far as mosques go. It was conceived in 1944 during the Truman presidency by diplomats from Muslim countries, and was inaugurated in 1957 under Eisenhower. The principal who pushed for the completion of the center was Egyptian Ambassador Kamil Abdul Rahim. Abdul Rahim travelled to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and other Muslim countries to solicit funds for the completion of the center. In addition to funds, various Arab countries also contributed to the decor of the mosque: Egypt provided a chandelier, Iran brought in oriental carpets, and Turkey contributed tiles.

At the time, ICDC's board was composed of diplomats from the various Muslim countries. Today, it is unclear who sits on its board. In fact, the ICDC webpage fails to list board members, imams, and related information. By contrast, other mosques, however conservative or controlled, list this key information. The imam's salary is also not divulged. It does say that the Islamic Center's aim is to work with the U.S. government, an odd breach of the key American principle of "Separation of Church and State."

The Saudi Embassy's website mentions the DC Islamic Center (as an example of the broadening reach of Islam in the U.S.), but does not delve into the extent of its contributions or investment into the Center.

The Islamic Center board was determined by election only once in its history: In November 1981, a Syrian-born Sunni scholar, named Muhammad Al-Asi was elected imam. His reign at the center was brief however, and he was ousted by the Saudis and others associated with the previous mosque board in March 1983. The Saudis locked Asi and his family out of the Islamic Center, and completely closed the Center for three months, under two seemingly unrelated pretexts:
  1. that they had information on a weapons cache inside the Center; and
  2. maintenance and repairs were needed inside the Center.

Later, when Imam Al-Asi attempted to return, they arrested and briefly jailed him along with 50 of his supporters, charging then with "unlawful entry into the mosque" and "disturbing a religious service." Asi and his cohorts were also indefinitely banned from entering the mosque.

New Trend, then in its sixth year of publication, supported Imam Al-Asi on principle.

So, the operations of the current board of the ICDC remain enshrouded in mystery. The little which is known emerged around 2009, as a result of a legal case between the mosque director/imam Abdullah Khouj and the mosque financial manager Farzad Darui. As a consequence of the case, it became apparent that hundreds of thousands of dollars were being funneled into a mosque fund by the Saudi government. The money was to be used, in part, for mosque maintenance and security.

Another point garnered from the 2009 case was that the mosque board had, in 1984, shortly after deposing Muhammad Al-Asi, hired a Saudi—from Saudi Arabia, and with no ties to the local community—to be imam.
The Saudi imam's March 30 khutbah I sat in on focused on cleansing one's body as well as one's soul, touching on various complications which can arise in such cleansing, including hasad (envy). The April 6 khutbah by the same imam also focused on hasad: Why one ought not engage in hasad; ramifications of engaging in hasad; remedies for the individual in danger of engaging in hasad, etc. There was a great deal of redundancy between the March 20 and April 6 khutbahs. And there were extensive and selective quotations from the Qur'an in Arabic (to a congregation which was, at best, 50% Arabic speaking).

Feeling an odd twinge of empathy (pity, really), I pondered how difficult it was for imams in the pocket of Saud or DHS to come up with entirely academic khutbahs, and completely skirt any remotely political topic, week after week. Almost any real world concern, it seemed to me, could be labeled as political—and hence off limits—not only to the paid Saudi imam whom I observed, but to the numerous imams on the DHS-approved speaking circuit.

For example in both the ICDC khutbas I heard, the imam mentioned memorization of Qur'an by hafiz-e-Quran as one area in which envy was okay. That is, competition to memorize and accurately recite God's word was a highly worthwhile endeavor exempt from the warnings against hasad. Ideally, envying a hafiz would lead one to also become a hafiz.

Ironically, two days prior, 100 hafiz-e-Quran children in Kunduz (Afghanistan) were killed in an airstrike by the Afghan government, a puppet of the U.S. And a little more than a year ago, world renowned hafiz-e-Qur'an Dr. Omar Abdel Rahman died a political prisoner in U.S. custody. How could any man of God ignore these terrible tragedies, and not make the logical connections? But to the Saudi imam I observed, there seemed no connection.

The Saudi imam continued to rail against hasad, spouting off yet more daleel in Arabic. His frenzied du'ah, also entirely in Arabic, was the only passionate part of his khutbah. Murdered Afghan children were clearly not on his mind. I left immediately after the prayer ended, asking Allah to forgive me for praying behind such a one. I pondered the openness to scrutiny of our beloved Rasool (SAW) and later of the Khulafah-E-Rashidun (RA) by their constituents. At a minimum, disclosure of the ICDC imam's salary and its source, as well as the salaries (and sources) of other ICDC board members would help congregants to understand why topics such as hasad are beat to death during the Center's khutbahs, while thousands of innocents across the Muslim world perish daily at the hands of the U.S., Russian, NATO, and other imperialist armies without a mention.

 Palestine

Death toll mounts as Palestinians protest at Gaza border.
Renewed violence comes despite call by UN secretary general urging Israeli forces to use 'extreme caution.

At least nine Palestinian men have been killed and scores more injured by Israeli gunfire on the Gaza border, a week after 18 Palestinians were killed at similar demonstrations.

The renewed violence came despite a call by the UN secretary general, António Guterres for Israel to exercise "extreme caution". His appeal was echoed by the UN human rights spokeswoman Elizabeth Throssell who said unjustified recourse to live fire could amount to wilful killing of civilians - a breach of the fourth Geneva convention.

Figures for the dead and injured were supplied by the Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza and a website associated with the group. The most seriously injured had reportedly been shot in the head or upper body. Another Palestinian who had been injured in last week's protests also died on Friday from his wounds.

On Saturday morning, the health ministry in Gaza said a Palestinian journalist shot by Israeli forces had died. Yasser Murtaja, a photographer with the Gaza-based Ain Media agency, was hit during clashes Friday. Another man, 20-year-old Hamza Abdel Aal, has also died after being shot, the ministry said, taking the death toll in Friday's clashes to nine.

The deaths came as thousands of protesters streamed towards a series of protest camps along the border for a demonstration calling for Palestinian refugees' right of return.

Under the cover of smoke from burning tyres, dozens of protesters approached the fence in one area, despite warnings by the Israeli military that those who did so risked their lives.

Justifying its response, the Israeli military said: "Several attempts have been made to damage and cross the security fence under the cover of the smokescreen created by the burning tyres that the rioters ignited."

Later on Friday, the Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, visited the Khuza'a camp, receiving a hero's welcome. Sinwar told the crowd that the world should "wait for our great move, when we breach the borders and pray at al-Aqsa", referring to the mosque in Jerusalem which is the third holiest site in Islam.

His address appeared to be the first time a Hamas leader specifically threatened to break through the border, something Israel has said it would not allow at any price.

Among those wounded was Mohammed Ashour, 20, who was shot in the right arm. "We came here because we want dignity," he told reporters from his stretcher before paramedics carried him to an ambulance.

Fresh violence had been widely anticipated after the protests on 30 March, when thousands of Gaza residents participated in the demonstrations, many gathering in five tented encampments that had been set up from north to south along the narrow coastal strip's border with Israel.

According to reports in the Israeli media, the Israel Defence Forces had been anticipating that as many as 50,000 demonstrators could participate on Friday, with the rules of engagement allowing live fire to be used against anyone who approached the border fence.

A Guardian reporter at the demonstrations, however, suggested a far lower turnout than last week, when about 30,000 people demonstrated.

Among those who turned up was Ali Bakroun, 19. "I came here with my friends to fly the kite we made this week," he said. "I wrote our names on it. We got close to the fence to throw stones but we stayed in a low place so we would be under cover. I'm not afraid to be shot or killed because our land deserves our lives."

Guidance

'Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah' 'As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu.

A'ishah [Radhi Allahu 'Anha] reported that a man came to the Messenger of Allah [Peace be upon him] and said:
"O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, I Love you more than I love myself,
and I Love you more than I love my family,
and I Love you more than I love my children..

When I am at home and I think of you, I am unable to contain myself until I can come to you and look at you.
When I think about my death and your death, I know that when you enter Paradise, you will be raised to where the Prophets are. But, if I enter Paradise, I am afraid: will I be able to see you?"

So, the Messenger of Allah {Peace be upon him} did not answer him at all until Jibril [AS] revealed to him...
