Breaking News: #1
Tunisia: February 9: Large crowds of Islamic protestors came
out to counter the secularist crowds which had called for an
end to the mildly Islamic Ghannouchi government on Feb. 8.
Secular opposition leader Chokri Belaid, who had been making
blatantly abusive statements against Shar'ia and Islamic
government was killed by someone. The secularists came out
in full force to protest. Now the Islamics have come out.
Tunisia has serious internal contradictions. During decades
of oppressive secular rule, Islam was attacked and hijabi
women were mistreated.
Among the flags raised by the Islamics was the black flag of
al-Qaida with the kalima on it. [AFP photos.]
#2
Iraq: Massive rallies held against US-installed al-Maliki
regime. Historic crowds came out on Feb. 8. The US media
didn't say a word.
See photo at end of this issue.
#3: Syria: Assad's air force is desperately attacking
Islamic positions in the suburbs of Damascus. The mujahideen
want to break into the final bastion of Assad but his air
force is intact and it has stopped the advance by the
Islamics. About 100 Russians have left Syria. Assad's tanks
are attacking villages in the Homs area. A lebanese paper
reports that Islamic fighters executed three of Assd's
troops who were convicted of raping a Muslim woman.
#4: Bangladesh: Islamics demonstrated in Dhaka, Chittagong,
Narayangang and Rajshahi after a special tribunal sentenced
a Jamaate Islami Bangla leader to life in prison. On Feb. 6,
the pro-India regime brought its secular Bangla supporters
into Dhaka streets, used police police to block the streets
and held rallies calling for death sentence for Islamic
scholars.
#5: Freedom for Kashmir: On February 5, rallies were held in
Pakistan's major cities calling for freedom for
Indian-occupied Kashmir and the withdrawal of India's army.
The appeal to rally for Kashmir came from Jamaate Islami
ameer Syed Munawar Hasan and got tremendous response.

Our America #1. This just in:
Protest at Bernstein's Home: Baltimore State Attorney linked
to Anderson and MacArthur cases
February 9. Protestors were out again near state attorney
Bernstein's home in an upscale area of Baltimore. Activist
Br. David Wiggins tells us that protestors are disturbed by
Bernstein's lack of action against police officers who dealt
so brutally with Anderson in a drug-related case that he
died in custody.
This form of murder by the police is quite common in America
but Br. Wiggins and others have taken this unusual step to
bring attention to the behavior of the authorities.
Prominent journalist MacArthur is being held without bail.
Another of Bernstein's "gifts" to the Black community?
It is ironic, New Trend notes, that this call for justice is
coming from the Black community at a time when the nation
proudly celebrates Black History Month.
The protestors stayed peacefully in the area from 10-2.
Bernstein passed by them twice but refused to stop and talk.
Heavily armed swat team was in place.
The protest will be repeated inshallah next week at the same
time. It is being publicized on facebook.

Baltimore Activist "Shorty" Davis Uses Artistic "toilet" to
Challenge Oppressive Zionist Power Structure
From Nadrat Siddique
Toilet Re-Enactment - February 2013 (50 photos on
facebook.)
This was a re-enactment of the February 2011 event which led
to the politically-motivated prosecution of Baltimore-based
anti-racism activist/artist Duane "Shorty" Davis. Although
Shorty was threatened with arrest if he brought the
original... toilet to the event, and a bomb-sniffing dog
arrived on the scene shortly after his arrival, the event
was overall a great success. It drew a good crowd of friends
and supporters of the artist/activist, including some who
had themselves experienced gross miscarriages of justice
within the judicial system. Some in the crowd were aghast
that the state continues to retain the sum total of Shorty's
considerable personal property, seized in the course of the
malicious prosecution against him, and that a replevin
(petition for the return of property) filed by the former
political defendant, was denied on technical grounds,
rendering him effectively homeless. The event received
extensive media coverage, including by the Baltimore Sun.
The press release announcing the event, including a synopsis
of Shorty's case is here:

Our America #3
Press TV Lied about Malcolm X's Grandson
Press TV, an Iranian propaganda outlet, created quite a stir
in America by making the claim that the grandson of Malcolm
X had been arrested by the US and is in FBI custody. The
family of Malcolm has issued a statement categorically
denying the report.
This irresponsible behavior of Press TV can also be seen in
relation to Syria. Press TV supports the tyrant Assad and
claims that the people of Syria are with Assad and those
fighting him are "terrorists."
Beware of Press TV. Islamic journalism requires honesty and
integrity.
Juma Khutba
Americans are Confused and Angry, need Islam. Meaning of
"ilah" in the Qur'an.
French Invasion of Mali has backing of all Islam haters:
Story about Timbuktu was faked by BBC-NPR.
[On February 8 Br. Kaukab Siddique gave the Juma khutba in
central Baltimore. The burn wound on his foot slowed him down
but the khutba was much appreciated. Its main points are
summarized here for wider distribution.]
Text : 'And your God [ilah] is one God [ilah]. There is no
God [ilah] but He, most Gracious, most Merciful.' [The
Qur'an 2:163]
-
The meaning of "ilah" in the Qur'an.
-
The meaning of "ilah" elaborated in hadith.
-
The meaning of "ilah" discussed by Maulana Maudoodi.
-
Many Muslims follow false gods because they do not
understand the meaning of "ilah."
-
The power of imperialism is a false god which often
misleads Muslims. The invasion of Mali was hailed by
secularized Muslims, The western media [BBC-NPR] found
enough Muslim grave worshippers and supporters of France
among Muslims to actually hail the invasion. The Islamics
withdrew and the French claimed victory but then on.FEBRUARY
7, the French were attacked at Gao which they claimed to
have captured.
-
BBC and NPR tried to smear the Islamics by claiming that
the library in Timbuctu had been burned by the Islamics. It
was a blatant lie and could not remain hidden for long
because the library was intact.
-
So on February 7, BBC-NPR admitted that the books were
all safe and had been taken out of the library as the
invaders approached. [BBC even showed a pile of burned books
but has not apologized for its fake news.]
-
The invasion of Mali shows that western media are a bunch
of FUSSAQ: Evil forces fabricating systematic lies against
the Islamics. These are the Zionist media, exploiters,
provacateurs, downright liars full of hatred against Islamic
fighters.
Part 2
-
A new way of fighting against imperial powers has
emerged.
-
Remember how the American armada barged into Iraq. They
did not realize that the Islamics would fight back by way of
guerrilla warfare. They had to WITHDRAW UNILATERALLY much as
the Soviets had been forced out of Afghanistan.
-
The imperialists thought they were victorious in
Afghanistan. Now they are being forced out by the indigenous
people, the Islamics, taking back the land of Islam, step by
step, hill by hill. CNN showed a video yesterday of an
American hero in Afghanistan: Inadvertently the video
included shots of mujahideen entering the American
stronghold shouting Allahu Akbar.
-
The imperialists, egged on by Zionists, are using drones
to bomb Pakistan, killing hundreds of Muslims "suspected" of
opposing American power. Next you know, drones will be used
to hunt America's own people. The Pakistanis have united
against the murderous drone power of the imperialists. [The
same is true in Yemen.]
-
Look at the case of the African American police officer
in Los Angeles who has issued a manifesto against the
corruption and injustice within the police. Similarly, White
people are opposing Obama. Look at the anger they are
expressing on the gun issue and the fear of Obama's tyranny.
Now they see that under Obama, anyone can be arrested for
anything.
-
Here is the role of the Zionists who have America by the
neck: The aim is to spread confusion about basic values.
-
Liquor destroying the young people.
-
Gambling creating false entertainment and false hope.
Look at Zionists supporting casinos in Baltimore.
-
Legitimization of sodomy with a presidential campaigh
okaying homosexual "marriage."
-
Exploitation of women. Many women realize they are being
made objects of entertainment. All the major crimes im USA
are against women. The largest number of converts to Islam
are women.
-
Many non-Muslim Americans realize that Zionist Jews are
destroying America but their churches and their religion do
not allow them to fight in a sane way against the takeover
of this great country by Israel firsters.
-
If we understand the meaning of God [Ilah] in Islam, we
can lead a moral revolution to bring America back to
sanity.Take the Qur'an with you wherever you go. Take hadith
about women with you.
-
Immigrants are too impressed with the glamor of America.
Look at the suffering and misery of the American people. The
White House cannot save America. Al-Jazeerah broke new
ground by publicizing the disgraceful condition of the poor
and the Black in Baltimore.Only the Qur'an and the hadith of
Muhammad, pbuh, can save America
Outreach
Baltimore, Maryland
Dissent about drones:
On February 6, New Trend editor Kaukab Siddique got on a
WBAL radio talk show about drone attacks.WBAL is
Baltimore's main AM radio station and reaches a wide
non-Muslim audience. Siddique made the following points:
As a person of Pakistani origin, I want to protest Obama's
drone attacks,
We have published a list of about a hundred children killed
in Pakistan and Yemen by Obama's drone strikes.
One of these children, from Yemen, was ONE YEAR old.
Not only Anwar Awlaki, a US citizen, was murdered on the
basis of his online presentations but his son was
assassinated as well.
These attacks are turning people against America.
Later in the program, the host referred with sorrow to the
one year old victim and that the attacks are increasing
al-Qaeda's support.
Ambridge, Pennsylvania
Unusual Outreach
On February 1, a white American convert to Islam distributed
copies of New Trend to 25 Muslims after juma' at the small
mosque in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, about 40 minutes drive
south of Pittsburgh.
Letter: Sectarian Attacks on Sahaba, r.a., [Companions of
the Prophet, pbuh]
Assalam alaikum:
Our sister Hamdiyya from North Carolina writes Sectarian
Attacks on Great Muslims. That is right but to defend
Muawiya, Abu Sufyan is not right, as they established
Kingship and hereditary rule in Islam.
There are sectarians on both sides of the divide of Shia and
Sunnis and they should be condemned. but avoid giving the
holy status in ignorance to Yazid, Muawiya and Sufyan.
After the Prophet SAWS, the great Muslims to be proud of are
Abu Bakr Siddique, Hazrat Omar, Osman and Ali Ibn Abbi
Ta-lib are to be admired and respected and may Allah bless
them.
Allah Hafiz
Shaikh Alikhan [Canada]
Editorial comment:
Abu Sufyan, r.a., and Muawiyya, r.a., did not establish any
kingship. You are thinking of Abu Sufyan when he was not
Muslim. I am reading about Abu Sufyan, r.a., who was
forgiven by the Prophet, pbuh, and became one of the
greatest Muslims.
Muawiyya, r., a, was loved by the Prophet, pbuh and was
katibe wahy. His rule was accepted by both Hasan, r.a., and
Hussain, r.a.
Muhammad, pbuh, did not have just 4 followers. We must
respect ALL sahaba, r.a.
As for the appointment of Yazeed, remember that Ali, r.a.,
appointed his relatives to all the positions of power when
he was Caliph. Also, he appointed Hasan, r.a., his own son
as Caliph much before Muawiyya, r.a., did.
The Shi'ites want us to disrespect sahaba, r.a. If we allow
that, Islam will be destroyed and Muhammad, pbuh, will be
left with only 4 followers and all of hadith will be
destroyed.
Don't let sectarian propaganda affect you. I had to write
because the Shias are attacking sahaba, r,a., every day
Our America
Chuck Hagel: Another Israeli Puppet or American Nationalist?
by Sis. Sherry Garris [Virginia]
It was not so long ago that Congressman Chuck Schumer was
non committal in his support for Chuck Hagels nomination for
the next defense secretary. As the rising "most powerful
Jewish Democrat in Congress,"with the retirement of
Connecticut Senator Joe Leiberman, Schumers descision seems
to be the decisive vote as to whether Hagel will succeed or
fail. "By holding out his support, Schumer can extract from
Hagel certain concessions over Israel."
The greatest concern for the "power brokers" of the Jewish
community is that "Hagel has been critical of Israeli's
dealings with Hezbollah in Lebanon, including during their
2006 military conflict. In 2006, Hagel declined to sign a
letter calling on the European Union to list Hezbollah as a
terrorist organization. After leaving office, Hagel signed
onto a 2009 letter urging Obama to begin peace talks with
Hamas. And, he's still paying the political price for
comments he made in 2006, when he referred to pro-Israel
forces as the 'Jewish lobby' that tends to 'intimidate'
lawmakers." This has made Hagel vulnerable to criticisms
from the Jewish lobby!
I am not so politically astute as to understand completely
the internal workings of the government. However, I agree
with Andrew Sullivan when he said, "Isn't the job in
question defense secretary of the U.S.? Why should an
American defense secretary be required to 'staunchly
advocate' for the interests of another country that isn't
even in NATO? Or put it another way: can you imagine a
leading Senator demanding that a defense secretary be a
staunch defender of Canada? Or Germany? Or Serbia?" The
double standards with regards to Israel is blindingly
apparent!
Hagel believed in what he said with regards to Israel was
truthful. However his realization that he would never be
nominated without the support of the Jewish Party enticed
him to write a letter to California Senator and Jewish
Democrat Barabara Boxer recanting his previous statements.
And, more or less apologizing for statements that "can be
construed as anti-Israel." Hagel also stated in the letter,
"Most Americans, myself included, are overwhelmingly
supportive of a strong U.S.-Israel strategic and security
relationship," adding he would work to "expand the depth and
breadth" of the countries ties if he's confirmed as defense
secretary. "This broad support comes from both Jews and
non-Jews alike" And, to ensure his final confirmation, Hagel
says, "Americas relationship with Israel is one that is
fundamentally built on our nations shared values, common
interests and shared ideals." And, what is that exactly
World Domination through terrorist attacks and control of
the worlds financial institutions!? I don't think Americans
get a vote on that one!
"There's good reason to believe that Hagel was chosen
precisely because the president privately shares some of
those views that the nominee is now disavowing." It seems
now that Senator Chuck Schumer of New York is satisfied with
Hagels recantation or "backtracking" on Israel and Iran and
is now prepared to endorse his nomination. And, is confident
Hagel will not revert to previous statements. Thus, keeping
Hagel under the thumb of the pro-Israel government entities
both Republican and Democrat. I'm not sure if Hagel is
professing his support for Israel to appease them in order
to get in there and then do the job he believes will
ultimately benefit the American people. Or, is he just
another puppet for the Jewish lobby. Time will tell and I'll
be watching as all Americans should be.

Our America #2.Obama violating US Constitution and Rule of
Law?
The Obama Administration's Dick Cheney Moment
By Dr. Wilmer J. Leon III
In an interview in 2007 Senator Obama (D-IL) said, "The
President does not have power under the Constitution to
unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that
does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to
the nation... I reject the Bush Administration's claim that
the President has plenary authority under the Constitution
to detain U.S. citizens without charges as unlawful enemy
combatants." In 2013 Americans are facing a president with
a different mindset.
A recently leaked White Paper is providing insight into the
legal justifications for the Obama administration's
"targeted killing" program. The paper asserts that
"high-level" government officials can "...use lethal force
in a foreign country...against a U.S. citizen who is a
senior operational leader of al-Qa'ida or an associated
force...actively engaged in planning operations to kill
Americans." This legal framework also explains how lethal
force can be used even if the "high-level" government
officials do not have "...clear evidence that a specific
attack on U.S. persons and interests will take place in the
immediate future."
In September 2011 the administration used drone strikes to
kill alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir
Khan. Al-Awlaki's 16-year old son Abdulrahman al-Awlaki was
also killed by a drone strike. All three were U.S. citizens
and none of them had been indicted by the U.S. government
for any crimes. According to The Guardian, "...the drone
program now is run out of the White House, where (John)
Brennan, the president's most trusted counter-terror
adviser, helps Obama pick the targets."
The rational behind the administration's "assassination by
drone" program sounds eerily reminiscent to former V.P. Dick
Cheney's "one-percent doctrine". Cheney believed the
so-called "war on terror" empowered the Bush administration
to invade sovereign countries and violate American's civil
liberties without the need for evidence or extensive
analysis. The facts did not matter. According to Cheney,
"If there's a 1% chance that Pakistani scientists are
helping al-Qaeda build or develop a nuclear weapon, we have
to treat it as a certainty in terms of our response. It's
not about our analysis ... It's about our response."
The Obama administrations rational for targeted killings of
American citizens contradict some of the basic framework of
American democracy. Due process, habeas corpus, checks and
balances, and bills of attainder are civil liberty
protections guaranteed by the Constitution.
Due process is such an important protection that it is
referenced in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the
Constitution. The Due Process Clause acts as a safeguard
from arbitrary denial of life, liberty, or property by the
Government. For the President or other "high-level"
government officials to act as judge, jury, and executioner
irrespective of "...clear evidence..." of any immediate
wrongdoing is the clearest example of arbitrarily denying
life and liberty that one can imagine.
Habeas corpus requires a person under arrest to be brought
before a judge in order to dermine if an individual's
detention is warranted. Article 1, Section 9 of the
Constitution states, "The privilege of the writ of habeas
corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of
rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it."
Understanding the issues is assassinations not arrest but
theoretically, by summarily executing American citizens
before they can even be detained is a contradiction of the
highest order.
The concept of checks and balances is an important part of
the Constitution. Each of the three branches of government
can limit the powers of the others preventing any one branch
from becoming too powerful. Under no circumstance should
members of the executive branch be allowed to condemn
American citizens to death, even in times of "war" without
the review of an impartial judge. This also violates
Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution, "No Bill of
Attainder ... shall be passed." A Bill of Attainder is an
act of a legislature or executive declaring a person or
group of persons guilty of some crime and punishing them
without privilege of a judicial trial.
The paper also concludes that the use of drone strikes for
targeted killings would not be justified if it violated the
fundamental law-of-war principles "...if anticipated
civilian causalities (collateral damage) would be excessive
in relation to the anticipated military advantage." The
administration has presented and defended drone strikes as
an "antiseptic" use of technology. CIA nominee, John Brennan
defended drone strikes as a more humane form of warfare. He
said that "extraordinary care" is taken to ensure they
conform to the "law of war principles" but stopped short of
saying they are in compliance.
According to the Center for Research on Globalization, "At
the end of January 2013, the Bureau of Investigative
Journalism was able to identify by name 213 people killed by
drones in Pakistan who were reported to be middle-or
senior-ranking militants. A further 331 civilians have also
now been named, 87 of them children. But this is a small
proportion of the minimum 2,629 people who appear to have so
far died in CIA drone strikes in Pakistan. The Bureau's work
suggests 475 of them were likely to have been civilians."
The administration has championed the use of drones as
making Americans safer by killing terrorists. Killing
innocent people in foreign countries creates more
terrorists.
President Obama signed the 2012 National Defense
Authorization Act (NDAA) containing sweeping worldwide
indefinite detention provisions and signed into law a
four-year extension of post-Sept. 11 powers (PATRIOT ACT) to
search records and conduct roving wiretaps in pursuit of
terrorists. The rational behind the Obama administrations
approach to civil liberties and warfare sounds eerily like a
Dick Cheney moment.

Pakistan: From Anwar Sajjad
Jamaate Islami urges government to accept Taliban's talks
offer
LAHORE, Feb. 8: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed
Munawar Hasan, has called upon the government to start
sincere talks with the Taliban so that those spilling human
blood in the name of Taliban could be exposed.
Addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque, he
said that Taliban's offer for talks should be accepted
forthwith, and the armed forces should also create an
impression that could restore confidence and ensure the
success of the talks. Talks should be started with full
confidence and in right earnest in order to end terrorism in
the region and for the restoration of peace and law and
order in the country, he added.
He said that the Taliban had certain reservations in
regarding the armed forces because of their past attitude
which must be removed so that the Taliban could believe that
the Pakistan government was sincere. Dialogue with the
Taliban was also necessary to overcome the target killings
in Karachi and Balochistan, abductions for ransom,
extortion and other such serious crimes, he added. He said
that peace was the need of every body and it must be
restored at every cost.
He said the armed forces had tolerated the NATO attack at
Silala check post and did not even protest over that.
Besides, despite knowing the assailants of the Abbotabad
and Naval headquarters' attacks, a policy of retreat was
adopted. He said to say that the Taliban did not keep their
word was one sided view.
The JI Ameer also welcomed the cabinet decision to hand over
the Gowadar port to China and stressed upon the government
to ensure the implementation of the agreement along with the
security of the Chinese engineers. Besides, he said, the
pact with China should also have a provision for jobs to
the residents of Gowadar and other Balochistan cities and
towns. Besides, he said, the government should also adopt
other measures to remove the sense of deprivation of the
Balochistan people. He said India's objection on the issue
had no basis as this was Pakistan's internal issue and India
had no right to protest over that.
Syed Munawar Hasan lauded the efforts of Saudi Arabia, and
the presidents of Turkey and Egypt, for the inclusion of the
Kashmir issue in the OIC group meeting agenda. He also
appreciated the effective presentation of Pakistan's stance
on the issue by the Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar at
the meeting.
The JI Ameer urged the government to tolerate the protests
on the drone attacks by those whose kith and kin were being
killed and their houses were being razed. It was a pity, he
said, that the US Think tanks could not realize that the
drone attacks were increasing terrorism in the region
instead of brining the menace to an end.
PAF and USAF in Action
February 9: Pakistani air force [PAF] jet fighters bombed
Islamic villages in the Mamozai area of upper Orakzai. At
least 13 "suspected" Islamics were killed in the day long
offensive by Pakistani late model jets.
February 8: Pakistan air force [PAF] carried lout bombing
raids in all the Islamic villages in upper Orakzai. The
reported "kill number" reported by the PAF was 10 Muslims
killed 4 injured.
February 8: A USAF drone attacked a home on the border of
north and south Waziristan. Pakistan is reporting 7 people
killed in the attack, including 4 Uzbek Muslims, an al-Qaeda
fighter from Iraq and another al-Qaeda fighter from Yemen.
February 6: US Air Force [USAF] drone attack killed at least
three Muslims in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan.
Other civilians are buried under the rubble of the compound
which was attacked. {These compounds are said to contain a
mosque and a kitchen in addition to homes.]
For the third Friday in a row, Iraqis have rallied against
the al-Maliki regime in Ramadi, Fallujah, parts of Baghdad,
Mosul, Baquba and smaller cities. Photo below shows how big
these rallies are.
Al-Qaida is urging them to take up arms but till now they
have remained peaceful.
Tens of thousands of Sunni Muslims protested after Friday
prayers in huge rallies against [US installed] Iraqi Prime
Minister Nuri al-Maliki, demanding that he step down.
