National Islamic Shoora of Jamaat al-Muslimeen Highlights Central Issues Facing Muslims of America The National Islamic Shoora met in Greensboro, North Carolina on April 11, 2009. The meeting continued for 13 hours with breaks for salat, lunch and dinner. The prayers were led by Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz . The delegates expressed loyalty to Islam as it is in the Qur'an and the authentic Hadith. Jamaat al-Muslimeen is dedicated to peaceful change. It is interracial and non-sectarian and teaches equality of Muslim women and men with TAQWA [Allah-consciousness] and struggle as the key to leadership. Karen English Ameer: Dr. Kaukab Siddique The Shoora began with recitation from Chapter 42 of the Qur'an titled "Shoora" [Mutual Consultation] followed by commentary from the Hadith. Owing to support from the local community, delicious halal meals, Arab style, and salads, American style, were provided free of charge. Owing to extensive efforts by Imam Badi Ali's team, the local Islamic center known as Islamic Center of the Triad [ICT] is helping refugees from Iraq, Somalia and Sudan. Women from the masjid are deeply involved in this effort. An active youth group frequently holds rallies to highlight the Palestinian struggle and to condemn Israel's atrocities in Gaza. Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz, the philosopher of Jamaat al-Muslimeen, carried out a deep and far reaching analysis of the malaise in the American education system owing to which highly educated Americans from Ivy League universities express grossly inadequate views on the realities of the Muslim world and Africa. Education, however expensive or exclusive, does not help Americans because it is undercut by concepts damaging to humanity and decency, Dr. Shabazz said. The horrors we have seen perpetrated in Iraq and Afghanistan and more recently in Gaza are rooted in the racism, arrogance of power and materialism of America's elites, he said. Listen to what Islam has to say: Superficial gestures and Cosmetic Changes Won't Work The education system in America should be reformulated and restructured so that educated Americans can deal with Truth and Reality and be prepared to face the challenges of life. The way it is now, the people are led towards illusions, fake values and materialism. The pervasive influence of the profit motive along with Zionism and Israel has affected America's economy leading to the greatest frauds in human history. We urge America's Muslims to BOYCOTT businesses which support Israel. BOYCOTT is a means of peaceful resistance which every American can use to oppose war and aggression. At this time when the Gaza genocide has brought Israel's moral status under question, the BOYCOTT movement needs to push harder. Islamic tools of education need to be used to help Muslims understand and oppose Mass Culture. We urge President Obama to work for independence in his efforts as the President of America. He should get rid of the Zionists who surround him so that he can focus on America's interests and not those of special entities. We applaud President Obama's statement that America's war is not against Islam and that he wants to listen. He should ensure that those Muslims he talks to do represent authentic Islam. All Islamic movements oppose America's policies. If Obama talks to Muslims who support America's policies, it will be an exercise in futility. We demand that Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, Florence [Colorado] prison structures be physically demolished. We demand that ALL political prisoners be released without further delay. Foremost among these are Dr. Omar 'Abdel Rahman, Imam Jamil al-Amin, Ahmad 'Abdel Sattar , Dr. Ali al-Timimi, Masoud Khan, Jose Padilla, Dr. Kifah al-Jayoussi, Dr. Sami al-Arian, Siddique Abdullah Hasan. We urge President Obama to release all information, photos, images and documents related to the torture, mistreatment and oppression of Islamic prisoners in Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and Bagram. All information on "rendition" of prisoners to various countries should be published. Without full disclosure of the Bush administration's crimes, the future will not change. We urge the media to end their censorship of critical discussion of Israel. The American people have the right to know about the relationship between the U.S. and Israel. Who is involved in this relationship and why? How much money is actually sent to Israel and how is it used. Which segments of American society are linked to Israel? Why was Israel not discussed during the election campaign? What is the extent of Israeli involvement in the economic disaster America is facing? The Israeli genocidal behavior during its incursions into Gaza and before that into Lebanon should be discussed and made known to the American public. A holocaust museum should be set up in Washington to illustrate 400 years of slavery in America as well as the extinction of various Native American nations and their cultures. There is no need for memorials to holocausts which were not committed in America. SECTION 2: Overseas Issues AFRICA: Sudan, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Egypt and the Congo are being subjected to Euro-American interference and subversion. As Sudan has shown in its peace agreement with the South, Africans are quite capable of solving their own problems. We oppose all Euro-American interference in Africa and we condemn in particular the recent moves against Sudanese leadership. We see plans, under the guise of anti-piracy measures, to re-invade Somalia after Islamic victories there. Egypt has been more or less taken over by Euro-American powers. Zimbabwe was severely punished by Europe for its land transfers to Africans and slaughter has been enabled in the Congo for its hidden wealth. We urge President Obama to keep his pledge to end the war. The American people voted against WAR, not just against the war in Iraq. The Islamic resistance has made it impossible for American militaries to win. We call on the new administration to WITHDRAW ALL FORCES from Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The attacks on Pakistan will not give any quick victory to America and will ignite resistance and inflict suffering on the Pakistani people. This is a dead end for U.S.-NATO adventurism. Please stop this process of war. Israel must accept full responsibility for the suffering it has imposed on Gaza in particular and the Palestinian people in general. Israel should be penalized for the financial losses it has inflicted and an impartial body should be set up to determine the compensation Israel must pay to the people of Gaza and other of its victims. As a first step, the Israeli blockade of Gaza should be lifted. The Arab regimes in the region are complicit in the Israeli blockade and should be urged to move to pressure Israel. Aid given to African countries is tiny as compared to what is given to Israel. This aid is not helping Africa. Efforts should be made to determine where aid has gone and what can be done to ensure that help reaches the African people. The Muslim world should COMBINE its efforts to DISMANTLE ISRAEL by peaceful means. The goal should be clear: a Zionist entity imposed on the heartland of Islam and the Arab world was a strategic blunder by European powers and has no future. We salute the people of Gaza for their heroic resistance to the Israeli juggernaut. No amount of Israeli brutality and firepower could persuade the people of Gaza to surrender. This is a good sign for the future victory of Palestine. We support the right of Latinos/Latinas, the pan Hispanic people in general, to come to work and live in the USA. This land belongs to Allah, not to any one race. Its soil is soaked with the blood of Native Americans. Its economic foundation was laid by African slaves over a period of 400 years. We express shame and disgust at the racial discrimination aimed at the Black people of Haiti and the support given to upper class people coming out of Cuba. The exploitation of the Dominican Republic too is shameful. Photos of some of the children of Gaza killed by the Israeli war machine, armed by the U.S., were shown to the delegates of Jamaat al-Muslimeen from seven states. From Brooklyn Jamaat: Presentation to April 11 Shoora meeting The JFK Case: It's a Fake plot to Scare Shi'ia Muslims in Trinidad & Guyana by Br. Abu Talib The U.S. government concocted a scary but totally bogus case against mostly Shi'a Muslims and some Sunnis from Trinidad and Guyana. According to the government story, the defendants plotted to blow up JFK international airport. Ridiculous as this claim is, the government is pursuing its story to terrorize the Muslims [mostly Shi'as]. A prominent Shi'a Muslim was extradited to the U.S. after pressure was put on the helpless governments of Trinidad and Guyana. An informant was used in this case as has been done often before. This informant, strangely enough, was a security guard at the mosque of "imam" Siraj Wahhaj, the notorious leader of the FBI-related group known as ISNA. One of three brothers arrested in this bogus case has been moved to Colorado [as far as we know] to isolate him from his community. A few people from the Shi'a community in Brooklyn have responded to our distribution of New Trend and a defense committee for this case was set up. Unfortunately no lawyer is willing to take the case without a heavy sum of money. We are distributing more literature to help Muslims understand that this is a totally bogus case.
