AMAZING SITUATION IN TURKEY'S PARLIAMENT:
U.S.
TROOPS PUT OFF
On March 1, Turkey's parliament voted
250 to 264 to let U.S. troops
come in to attack
Iraq
from the north. The vote
was so close that under
Parliamentary rules, it had to be annulled. A new
vote will be held on March
4.
The Turkish Prime Minister was enraged that
the vote had not been good
enough to let U.S. troops in.
As the Parliament deliberated, more than
50,000 Turks demonstrated
outside against U.S. policies.
According to U.S. reports, the number of
Turks now opposing the U.S. war
on Iraq has reached 94% which is probably a
record in human history.
[One of the ironies of the situation is that
the "Muslim"
representatives in the Turkish parliament are
like what we call the
ISNA-W.D.
types in the U.S. They were the ones SUPPORTING
the entry of U.S. troops
while the secular representatives were opposing
it.]
Among other factors, the Turks also suspect
that the U.S. might be
planning some subversion to create a Kurdish
state of a client type, with
"democracy" for the Kurds.
