MASSIVE DEMONSTRATION IN PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN calls
for
Jihad
to Help
Iraq
On March 30, at the call of the Islamic
coalition, nearly half a
million people participated in a rally which was
overtly antagonistic to the
U.S.,
U.K and
Israel.
Speaker after speaker
condemned the bombing of Iraq and
described the U.S. as a terrorist state. As
compared to previous marches,
which were basically anti-war, this one rang with
thunderous slogans of
Al-Jihad, Al-Jihad, and always, from one end of
the city to the other:
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.
Numerous effigies of
Bush
and Blair,
looking very much like real, in
suit and tie, were burned. Maulana Noorani
compared Iraq today to Kerbala. He
also demanded that the U.N. impose ECONOMIC
SANCTIONS on the U.S. Qazi
Hussain Ahmad hailed the martyrdom operation
carried out the same day in
Iraq. Hafiz Saeed, leader of the jihad movement
known as Jamaat ad-da'wa,
called on the nation to take practical steps to
take part in jihad.
SOME SPEAKERS URGED OIL PRODUCING
COUNTRIES TO CUT OFF OIL SUPPLIES TO
THE U.S.
Peshawar is the home turf of openly
pro-Taliban leaders like Maulana
Sami-ul-Haq and Maulana Fazlur Rahman. These
leaders condemned the U.S.
occupation of
Afghanistan
and the attack on Iraq.
Thousands of Saddam Hussain portraits
appeared in this march along with
thousands of pictures of Osama bin Laden,
hearthrob of the Muslim ummah.

to be waking up.
