HADITH
STUDIES
WHEN DID HADITH NARRATION BEGIN?
Question: Is it true that Hadith is questionable and was started in the
third century? It is said so by Perwaiz and Tolu-e-Islam group.
[Ahmad from Delaware]
Answer by
Kaukab Siddique:
From the time of the Prophet, pbuh, till today, the
Qur'an
and the Hadith have been together. In
Islam,
there is no such thing as "Qur'an only."
EVERY PROMINENT COMPANION OF THE PROPHET (pbuh) narrated Hadith. It takes
the ego of a charlatan like G.A. Perwez to claim that Hadith was a third
century invention.
Let's take the example of 'Ayesha Siddiqa, r.a., the blessed wife of the
Prophet, pbuh. She died in Hijri 57, about 46 years after the Prophet, pbuh,
passed away. During this time she narrated 2210 Hadith.
Her work was carried on to the end of the first century of Islam by great
scholars such as Masruq, who died in 63 Hijri, Urwa son of Zubair (died 94H),
and two FAMOUS WOMEN SCHOLARS, 'Umra daughter of Abdur Rahman (died 100
Hijri) and Hafsa, daughter of Sirin (died 100 Hijri).
In the SECOND CENTURY of Islam, Ayesha's, r.a., narrations were transmitted
by Hisham [the sone of 'Urwa] [died 144 H], Zuhri [124 H], Imam Malik
[died 179 H] and many others.
Then in the THIRD CENTURY came
Imam Bukhari
[died 256 H] and others who are known to us. So, never be led astray by the
idea that Hadith was started in the third century.

IMAM JAMIL Al-AMIN
UNDERWENT SEXUAL HUMILIATION in PRISON: Guards Tried to Break Down His
Islamic Identity
by Kaukab Siddique
According to Tim Williams, top trainer of the state Department of Corrections
in Georgia, "If guards in Georgia prisons were caught humiliating inmates
like those in
Iraq's
Abu Ghraib, they would be disciplined harshly and possibly face criminal
charges."
[Atlanta Journal & Constitution, May 7]
The facts, however, are quite different. The U.S. authorities have developed
methods to humiliate prisoners without touching them or leaving any marks on
their bodies. These culturally abusive methods, especially in the case of
Muslim prisoners, are meant to destroy the prisoner's self-respect,
self-identity as a Muslim and make him into an object.
For nearly two years now, Imam Jamil Abdullah al-Amin has been trying to
stop the efforts of the prison authorities to destroy him. Readers should
know that Imam Jamil is the MOST OUTSTANDING and prestigious
Imam in America.
He is one of the VERY FEW who has neither sold out nor buckled under pressure.
He is a family man and a community leader who spent his youth as an activist
[known as H. Rap Brown] in the Black struggle. As a Muslim, he came to be
known for his humble but strong adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet
Muhammad (peace be on him).
Imam Jamil is certainly no ordinary individual to be trifled with and
humiliated in such a shameful way. If the U.S. government can subject a top
Imam to such disgraceful treatment, what is one to make of the government's
claim that it is NOT waging a war against Islam.
We have obtained the grievances Imam Jamil filed with the prison authorities.
These indicate his efforts to be treated like a human being and not to
break under the constant "scientifically modulated" abuse aimed at him. The
stir in America over the Abu Ghraib abuse came about because photos of it
were available. We have no photos, but the words of the Imam should be
enough to stir any conscience.
[THE FOLLOWING SHOULD NOT BE READ BY CHILDREN AS IT CONTAINS GRAPHIC DETAILS
OF ABUSE.]
The words of Imam Jamil al-Amin from the grievance he filed on 12.10.'03.
"On Saturday 12.6.03 ar about 10.40 AM I was told to prepare for visit. At
about 11.30 AM a negro officer accompanied by a White female officer came
into K-4 area. The negro told the officer on duty in K-4, to tell me to
strip.
At this time the negro, who I then observed was a Lieutenant, came over and
began to receive the articles of clothing as I disrobed. At this time I
noticed that the White female had positioned herself. directly in front of
the cell in which I am held.
This negro, whom I have been informed is Lt. Sanders, proceeded to pass the
items of clothing directly to her. He instructed me to strip naked. I
observed the female officer looking at me in this state of undress, and
thought according to procedure she would be asked to reposition herself
(seeing that she was no more than 4 feet away and could see my private
parts).
Lt. Sanders proceeded with his orders, that I lift my genitals and to turn
and bend over for a Rectal search. I am 6' 5" and my genital area is at
about the same level as the tray slot. My being exposed in this manner in
the view of a female is no less than harassment compounded with Sexual
Harassment.
I was informed that the White female officer's name is McCall.
Upon reaching the visiting area, the Lt. turned as he was leaving and said
sarcastically, 'O, you have a good day,' to which the officer on duty in the
visiting area inquired, 'What was that all about?' "

One in a Series of
Revolutionary Khutbas
Transparency & Accountability are Essential to Islamic Leadership: Reveal Your Income and Sources of Income:Leave your old ways
Dr. Kaukab Siddique gave his final Juma' Khutba at Johns Hopkins University
before the school closed for summer holidays. Here are the main points of the
Khutba.
TEXT for khutba: After the first revelation ...: "He (Muhammad, pbuh) said:
'I fear that something may happen to me.' Khadija replied: 'Never! By Allah,
Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your relatives,
you help the poor and destitute, you serve your guests generously and you
assist the calamity-afflicted ones who deserve help.' "
[Sahih of Bukhari, Vol. 1]
-
Even before he received revelation, Muhammad (pbuh) was a man of outstanding
virtue whose life was well-known to the community. Hence Khadija (r.a)
affirmed that no evil force could have visited him. Muslim leaders should be
known to the public as they are, not as products of public relationing.
-
Muhammad (pbuh) was known as Al-Ameen [the trustworthy]. At the point when he
was forced to leave
Makka,
the goods of tribes opposed to him were in his safekeeping and he left young
Ali (r.a) behind to give them back to the owners.
-
Owing to this transparency, the enemies of Islam found it very difficult to
accuse him. The leaders of Islam after him, Abu Bakr, 'Umar, Usman, Ali
[Allah be pleased with them] were of similar high character and accountable
for all that they owned and spent.
-
By contrast, the conditions of Muslim leaders in America are at a very low
level of virtue even by non-Muslim standards.
-
For years, these self-proclaimed leaders obtained funds from overseas and
tried to impose themselves on the Muslim community on the basis of their
financial power. Thus the richest, not the best, became the leaders of
America's Muslims.
-
There are leaders here who do not reveal their incomes or their sources of
income. As a result, most Muslims do not know the real allegiance of their
leaders.
-
Recently, one such leader, after being arrested, revealed that he had been
working for the State Department. He used government funds to infiltrate
Muslim communities and was a well-known figure at
ISNA
and
ICNA
Conventions.
-
Muslims need to know what is the relationship of their leaders with the FBI.
-
Last year an Imam in Brooklyn, associated with ISNA, told the
Wall Street Journal
that he takes $44,000 years annually from the funds collected at his mosque.
Another Imam, who speaks at ICNA conferences regularly, left a mosque in
Albany where he was being paid $50,000 yearly because it was too little for
him.
-
Surely, Islam does not allow us to be paid for leading prayers, giving Juma
Khutbas and teaching Islam. We should feel honored to do this for free,
unless there is some serious need or difficulty. We SHOULD NOT MAKE A JOB
and a BUSINESS out of religion.
-
The Muslim world is facing a cataclysmic situation. Will we still not review
our ways, apologize to the Ummah and follow the Sunnah?
-
It is time to stop building MILLION DOLLAR MOSQUES and million dollar parking
lots for the flashy cars of the suburbanites who visit these cosy retreats.
The money is badly needed to fight for the rights of hundreds, thousands of
Muslims stuck in prisons across the country. The money is needed for the
children of
Africa,
Iraq,
Afghanistan,
Bangladesh. Allah's curse is on those who waste their funds while the
children die of disease and malnutrition.
-
We must urge these leaders: REMOVE THE NAME OF "ISLAMIC" and /or "Muslim"
from their organization names unless you are willing to be Islamically
accountable.
-
These leaders must affirm that they will put the QUR'AN and the SUNNAH before
ALL other considerations. They must affirm under oath that they are not
working for the FBI, the State Department and intelligence agencies.

News:
The Campaign to BOYCOTT BUSINESSES WHICH SUPPORT ISRAEL is spreading
across the country. The latest news on May 28 was that the Boycott brochure
was given to 100 people at Masjid Noor located on the northeast of
Baltimore which has a largely Arab community.
A couple of interesting anecdotes:
At the MUSLIM COMMUNITY CENTER in Silver Spring, Maryland, after the brochure
had been distributed, a white bearded elder of the mosque said: "My God, we
used Home Depot to build our masjid..." [Home Depot is one of the companies
featured in the brochure.]
At the Islamic Center near New Orleans airport, [LOUISIANA], the Imam was
happy with the brochure and expressed shock that right there and then
Coca-Cola was being sold at the entrance of the mosque by a Muslim. [The
brochure was then given to the merchant. Hopefully he will not sell Coca Cola
in the future.]
These two incidents underline the need for Muslims to research where their
money is going.

WAR NEWS [From our
Media
Monitor with analysis]
IRAQ:
MOQTADA Al-SADR CHANGES TACTICS
In spite of heavy losses, Al-Sadr's militia is steadily gaining support.
Owing to pressure from Ali Sistani, he agreed to withdraw from Najaf IF the
AMERICANS would too. This left the Americans in a difficult situation. Taken
aback, the Americans retreated and seemed to have dropped their demand that
Al-Sadr hand himself over.
Fighting between Al-Sadr's militia and U.S. forces erupted anew in Kufa on
May 31. This time two U.S. troops were killed.
IYAD ALLAVI: FATAL BLOW FOR "DEMOCRACY" in IRAQ
May 28: The U.S. appointed Iyad Allavi, a reputed
CIA
agent and Shi'ite, to the position of 'Prime Minister' of Iraq. U.S.
media
reports indicate that Allavi worked actively for the CIA in attempts to kill
Saddam. In return Saddam struck back at him in his London operations site
and he narrowly escaped.
At one time Allavi was with Saddam but seems to have been lured away by the
CIA. The activities of Allavi and others like him made Saddam paranoid and
suspicious of those around him. He knew that the CIA, Mossad and British
intelligence were out to kill. He fought back hard and defeated all such
attempts. His fight back is often projected as "repression." One reason for
the war was that the CIA could not kill Saddam in spiteof 36 attempts [as
referred to by Tom Clancy].
KASHMIR
INDIA
is busy trying to crush the Muslims of
Kashmir
while keeping peace with
Pakistan.
According to a series of new reports coming out on May 28, Indian troops
killed a 13 year old boy, Zia ur Rahman, in Anantnag. The Indian force known
as Rashtriya Rifles killed two youths, Muhammad Abbas and Shabbir Ahmed in
Kupawara and claimed that they were resisting arrest. [There were
demonstrations against India in that town.] In Sonawari there was a
ferocious gunfight between Indian troops and mujahideen in which the
Indians fell into an ambush and lost Major A.K. Tripathi and 3 troops killed
along with two Islamic fighters from Lashkare Taiba and a Kashmiri civilian.
The puppet Indian-installed "government" has decided to pull down a
300-year old mosque.
in Srinagar, known as Masjid Bahram Shah, and to replace it with
an entertainment park. The move has been denounced by the Hurriyet Conference
leader Syed Ali Gailani. At a funeral for two Kashmiri youths killed by
India troops, Hurriyet Conference leaders Muhammad Saleem Zargar and Maulvi
Bashir urged the Muslim world to recognize the two faces of India: Publicity
for talks and peace with Pakistan on the one hand and genocide of the
Kashmiri people on the other.

"SAUDI" ARABIA: KHOBAR, after YANBU, SIGNALS COMING DEMISE OF SAUDI RULING FAMILY
Observers say that the 24-hour hostage taking ordeal in Khobar [May 30-31] is
part of a general upheaval taking place in Arabia. It could well be the
beginning of the end for the Saudi dynasty. The latest attack seemed to have
been well-coordinated and, in spite of collateral damage [a 13 year old
Egyptian
boy], hit people from European countries working for the Saudi oil industry.
At least 22 people were reportedly killed in the attack. Most surprisingly,
the three mujahideen carrying out the attack escaped, although the Saudi
forces claim to have captured a fourth who was injured.
All loss of life is painful, but analysts note that the attacks say much
about the transformation of "Saudi"
Arabia
in the direction of Islamic Arabia. Here are the key factors in the conflict:
-
The Saudi ruling family has not provided ANY evenue for peaceful change.
-
Monarchy is Haram [legally forbidden] in Islam.
The only legitimate form of Islamic rule is Khilafa (Caliphate).
-
The Saudis have a huge budget for INTERNAL security estimated at more than
$3 billion for such a small population. The security forces are so
repressive that Saudi students living in the U.S. for decades dared not
speak against the rulers.
-
The Saudis permit, endorse and fund a sterile version of Islam which is
bereft of anything other than the exernalized rituals of Islam.
Women
have NO
rights.
RACISM is rampant especially against Pakistanis and Africans. [Hindus in
large numbers are working there in spite of India's repression in Kashmir.]
-
The wealth of Arabia is at the service of America and European powers while
across the Red Sea, Muslim populations in Somalia,
Ethiopia,
Eritrea and
Sudan
live in dreadful conditions.
-
Owing to the uprising led by Osama bin Laden, the people of Arabia are
turning openly against the Saudi family. The unthinkable is happening in
that EVERY month there are fire fights in Arabian cities between Saudi
forces and Islamic fighters. The assailants against American/European
interests in Arabia are all seemingly from Arabia. Hence the Saudis are
unable to present them to the public in an open trial.
-
Crown Prince Abdullah and Prince Bandar,
Bush's
friend, are becoming hysterical in their attacks on the assailants, calling
them against Islam and humanity. Observers say that such rhetoric is
fruitless because the Muslim world sees Abdullah and Bandar as American
agents who are devoid of Islamic authenticity and utterly lacking in the
basic virtues of Islam. [MOST OBSERVERS AGREE THAT SUCH mujahideen attacks
as that in Khobar and earlier in Yanbu WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT
GRASSROOTS SUPPORT FROM THE PEOPLE OF ARABIA.]
-
The silence which the Saudis had imposed on Arabia has been shattered. The
decline of the Saudis has begun and most strategists would say that their
departure from the blessed land of the last of the Prophets, Muhammad, peace
and blessings of Allah be on him, is only a matter of time. {Political wags
say that Prince Bandar might have to find employment at Crawford ranch in
Texas.} The unfortunate reality is that the Saudi family has accumulated so
much wealth in the U.S., Europe and Australia that they will be able to live
in luxury even after being driven out.

Bush calls for Saddam execution
Mr Bush said the Iraqi people should decide Saddam's fate
US President George W Bush has said that the captured former Iraqi leader
Saddam Hussein should pay the "ultimate penalty" for his crimes.
"This is a disgusting tyrant who deserves... the ultimate justice," he said
in a US television interview.
His comments put the US sharply at odds with the United Nations and European
allies who oppose the death penalty.
Earlier, US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld announced the CIA would take
charge of interrogating Saddam Hussein.
In the aftermath of the deposed leader's capture on Saturday, Mr Bush
avoided answering questions on what punishment he wanted to see imposed.
But his latest comments confirm what most people believed were the Texan
president's views, says the
BBC's
Justin Webb, in Washington.
"Let's just see what penalty he gets, but I think he ought to receive the
ultimate penalty ... for what he has done to his people," Mr Bush told
ABC News.
"I mean, he is a torturer, a murderer, they had rape rooms. This is a
disgusting tyrant who deserves justice, the ultimate justice."
