Jamaat al-Muslimeen International Press Release
CALL TO DEMONSTRATE IN ATLANTA FOR IMAM JAMIL's RELEASE
assalamu alaikum: Dear Muslims and concerned People
It is time to come out on the streets and call for Imam Jamil's
unconditional release.
We suggest that delegates from all over America come to Atlanta on July
28 and appeal to all the masjid gatherings at Juma to join the
demonstration on July 29.
The demonstration on July 29 should call for Imam Jamil's release on the
basis that it is a political/racially motivated railroading.
Our petition demands that :
1. An independent inquiry be held into the case.
2. The FBI file on him be release uncensored.
3. He be honored for the Islamic leader he is and bigotry not be shown by digging up his past.
4. He be released pending the investigation.
IMAM JAMIL Al-Amin has already invited all imams to the Riada on July
28-30 in Atlanta for an international shoora.
We can use the occasion to organize the demonstration.
Let us know what you think. We can work on it for three weeks.
If this is too soon, we can hold it when the court hearings begin.
In fact we should be mobilized enough so that by the time the hearings
begin, we can demonstrate on an ongoing basis.
PLEASE RESPOND.
JANET RENO MAKES A TECHNICAL EXCUSE On IMAM JAMIL'S CASE
In response to petitions sent by Jamaat al-Muslimeen to Attorney General
Janet Reno, her Excutive Offfice person L.M. Thompson has written back
that "this is an issue of State, not federal, jurisdiction."
She says the Jamaat should pursue the "matter" at the State or
local level. This doesn't make sense because Imam Jamil was pursued
across state lines and the FBI asked, ostensibly, through CAIR etc that he
turn himself in to the FBI. Now we are being told it's a state matter.
Readers, does it make sense to you?
