URGENT REQUEST TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR IMAM JAMIL
al-AMIN
by Sis. Motisola M. Abdallah
motisola_3@hotmail.com
Secretary General,
Jamaat al-Muslimeen
Imam Jamil Al-Amin has not forgot about us.
Please let us not forget about
him. The government is out to silence him even
behind prison walls. Your
writing or calling can make a huge difference in
the treatment of Imam Jamil by the
prison authorities.
Protest these conditions:
He is being held in 23/7 lock down. This
is only for prisoners on
deathrow. The Imam is not on deathrow.
They say this is for his
security.
His religious rights to attend Salatul
Jumah on Fridays and worship in
congregation like the other Muslim prisoners
has been violated.
He is suffering cruel and unusual solitary
confinement just to try and
break his spirits.
and of course,
Imam Jamil Al-Amin didn't shoot any cop.
Let these people know that Muslims care about
each other and that you are
watching and care about The Imam. You may call
the Warden, Mr. Hugh Smith, at
912-557-7301. The warden's address is:
Mr. Hugh Smith
Georgia State Prison
100 Georgia Highway, 147
Reidsville, GA 30499-9701
Drop The Imam a nice card or letter. The
committee has learned that the
prison officials dislike his getting mail with
anything about the
Qur'an
and the
beauty of Islam in it. They have to read all of
his mail. So send and continue
to send these types of letters and scenic cards
to the Imam. Be sensible.
Write to the Imam:
Imam Jamil Al-Amin
GDC # 1104651
GEORGIA STATE PRISON
100 GEORGIA HIGHWAY 147
REIDSVILLE, GA 39499-9701
Please report any discrepancies or problems you
run into to New Trend at my
email address or
Dr. Siddique's
email address
listed above.
The Appeals process desparately needs money to
continue. Make financial
contributions to:
THE JUSTICE FUND
PO BOX 93963
ATLANTA, GA 30318
For those of you in Atlanta and those of you who
may be in Atlanta visiting.
Another form of action in support of The Imam is
to attend the monthly
Georgia Department of Corrections Board Meeting.
These are the people who make all
the decisions about all prisoners in the state of
Georgia. The next board
meeting is:
Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 10 am at #2 MLK, Jr.
Drive, East Tower, 8th
Floor. You have the right when the invitation is
extended to briefly introduce
yourself and state the reason why you are there.
However, they are under no
obligation to respond.
