SADDAM WAS DEFIANT IN HIS SPEECH OF JANUARY 17. If he intends to stand and
fight,
Bush's
war plans are moving towards a disaster. If BAGHDAD IS DEFENDED
even for a few weeks, the Islamic revolution could well be ignited all over
the Muslim world.

Local news: Jan. 18. Demonstrators are converging on Washington in brutally
cold weather to oppose the war on
Iraq.
Anti-war sentiment is high in
America. Other than
pro-Israeli
elements, its difficult to find speakers in
support of Bush's war. A vast coalition of anti-war groups
is involved in the protests. Jamaat al-Muslimeen will be there although our
Islamic speakers are being denied the right to speak from the podium.

At Baltimore's biggest mosque, masjid al-Rahma, run by the Islamic Society
of Baltimore, the imam Adam al-Shaikh has been summarily dismissed. Our
information indicates that a group known as the "hyderabadi mafia" is
running this center and has seriously violated Islamic teachings by
hooking up with American government agencies and obtaining considerable
sums of money from the oppressors. A Muslim from India, Br. Salim Khatib,
is trying to rectify
the situation by petitioning the masjid functionaries to focus on spiritual
development rather than million dollar building projects.
We'll keep the readers informed.

1. According to wire services, on January 15, an American army armored
vehicle was blown up in southeastern
Afghanistan
(31 miles northeast of
Jalalabad). The U.S. army claimed that only TWO U.S. soldiers were injured
in the attack but the injuries were not serious. In a separate incident,
another U.S. armored vehicle was blown up in the same region. This
time no casualties were mentioned. However the incidents were serious
enough for the U.S. to
call in B-52 attacks on the suspected positions of the assailants.
THE B-52s DROPPED HEAVY BOMBS BUT SEEM TO HAVE MISSED ANY SUSPECTED
TARGETS.
About the same time, AP reported that a U.S. soldier was shot and
seriously wounded in broad daylight in Kandahar. The assailant escaped. The
U.S. however claimed that the attack was not by "hostile" forces.
AS
MEDIA
WATCHERS, NEW TREND OBSERVERS NOTE THAT THE U.S. MAJOR MEDIA
DID NOT REPORT OR DISCUSS THE INCIDENTS. As Americans know, American soldiers
are the most important people in the world. Here they are being hurt and not
being given ANY coverage in the media. WHY?
[MSNBC
and
FOX NEWS
mentioned the incidents in the running scripts under their screens but
did not report them on the screen.]
Pakistani
observers say that the TALIBAN have returned and are
carrying out classic guerrilla warfare against the U.S. It's a slow
grinding process in which the Taliban use pin pricks against the
powerful American military machine and melt away. Very different from
Al-Qaida, the Taliban try not to sustain any losses. Pakistanis say that
the U.S is suffering losses
almost on a daily basis. Like the Soviets, the U.S. does not want to admit
its losses. Like the Soviets, the U.S. is building an "Afghan" mercenary army
which is likely to join the freedom fighters once large scale fighting breaks
out.

2. TONY BLAIR's "TERRORIST" USED A KITCHEN KNIFE!
NO RICIN TRACE WAS FOUND
Details are now available about the incident in Manchester, UK in
which a British policeman was killed and three policemen were injured. It
appears that the British forces busted into a private apartment and started
humiliating and arresting four ALGERIAN men. One of the men lost control of
his temper. Looking around for something to use against the oppressors, he
picked up a KITCHEN KNIFE and attacked the policemen, killing one of them
and injuring three others.
i. NO WEAPONS WERE FOUND IN THE APARTMENT.
ii. ABSOLUTELY NO TRACE OF RICIN WAS FOUND. [The Blair government has
been playing the Ricin propaganda game to create
justification for its raids on Muslims.]
WHY ARE ALGERIANS SO MUCH AGAINST THE EUROPEAN POWERS and why are
Algerians found in international Islamic groupings fighting
against France, UK and USA?
The U.S., France and Britain are allied to the murderous regime of
Generals in Algeria. The U.S. coaxed the World Bank to provide a BILLION
dollars to the Algerian junta after it had decimated the peaceful Islamic
movement. FRANCE has been funding and arming the corrupt and brutal Algerian
army while Britain supports the Algerian government and claims that it is a
legitimate government.
[IN ALGERIA TOO THE ISLAMIC WAVE IS RETURNING. In the second week of
January, 2003 the mujahideen in Algerian TOOK ON THE ALGERIAN ARMY IN PITCHED
BATTLE AND FORCED IT TO RETREAT. The Algerian government reported that it had
lost 45 troops killed and 55 wounded. Actual losses may be much higher.]
The Algerian junta:
1. Used tanks to destroy FIS which had won the elections fair and square.
2. Thousands of Islamic intellectuals and scholars were imprisoned in
the Sahara desert.
3. Several thousand Algerian Islamists were executed by the military
junta WITHOUT TRIAL. (Mentioned briefly in the
Christian Science Monitor
.)
4. The Algerian government used hit squads posing as Muslims to kill
women and children in the villages supporting the Islamic movement. After
each slaughter, the government would blame the Islamic fighters for the
killings and the government news releases would be picked
by
Zionist
media (such as the
WASHINGTON POST)
and distributed around the
world.
4a. Defectors from Algerian intelligence services broke the junta's
cover and brought out the horrifying reality of the slaughter of women and
children by the government hit squads dressed as Islamists.
In all this, the U.S. and the European powers sided
with the Algerian military junta.

3. PAKISTAN's MUSHARREF SHOCKED: ISLAMIC CANDIDATE WINS IN RAWALPINDI
In a new upset for the Musharref government, the nephew of Musharref's
Minister of Information, Shaikh Rasheed, was defeated by MMA's candidate
Haneef Abbasi with a large margin in a run-off election on January 14 in
Rawalpindi, the big city adjacent to Islamabad. Rawalpindi has been known for
its cynical, laid back attitude towards politics and usually chooses
secularized leaders. The sweeping Islamic victory indicates the growing
bitterness against U.S. interference in Pakistan and opposition to
Musharref's ongoing alliance with the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.
[PAKISTANI READERS SHOULD KNOW THAT THE PAKISTANI (actually Musharref's)
AMBASSADOR IN WASHINGTON HAS BEEN TELLING U.S. AUDIENCES THAT MUSHARREF WILL
CONTINUE TO COOPERATE WITH THE U.S. REGARDLESS OF STUNNING ISLAMIC ELECTION
VICTORIES. It's a typical case of elitist Pakistani contempt towards the
will of the Pakistani people.]

Laden with bias The
Halifax Herald.
Jan. 16, 2003
The Jan. 11 column by Jeff Jacoby is laden with bias. The killing of innocent
civilians, be they Israeli or Palestinians, must be condemned by all. Mr.
Jacoby goes to town in condemning Palestinian acts of violence, but not a
single word about the atrocities committed by Israeli forces and settlers
against Palestinians. Over 2,000 Palestinians have been killed and over
40,000 injured, over 30 per cent of them children. They are not mentioned in
Jacoby's tirade.
There is no mention of the oppressive illegal occupation to which the
Palestinians have been subjected for the last 35 years, in defiance of
international law and repeated Security Council resolutions. Israeli
practices include detention without charge or trial, torture, extra-judicial
assassination, demolition of thousands of homes, and expropriation of
territory for the creation of illegal Jewish settlements. Collective
punishments are imposed, including prolonged curfews, denial of access to
medical care and schools. UNICEF reports that 30 per cent of Palestinian
children are suffering from malnutrition.
All these acts are in violation of all articles of the Fourth Geneva
Convention, and are defined by international law as war crimes. These crimes
have been condemned by all international human rights organizations and some
Israeli human rights groups.
If Mr. Jacoby and The Herald truly care for the suffering of Israelis, and
possibly Palestinians, they should be calling on Israel to terminate its
illegal occupation.
