"WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME?"
DOCUMENTING YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOLING

Allah states in the Quran:
Verily the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah (alone). It is He Who sends
down rain, and He Who knows what is in the wombs. Nor does any one know
what it is that he will earn on the morrow: Nor does any one know in what
land he is to die. Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted
(with all things).

There's no excuse. You absolutely MUST document in detail what you are
doing with your homeschooled children. This means much, much more than
writing down
what pages you did for that day. Documenting is not only WHAT you
teach, but HOW you teach. Could someone step in if you were hurt in a car
accident? Killed?
Grim thought, isn't it? I am providing a print out of questions for you to
answer and put with your homeschooling material. This should serve as the
beginning of your explanation for your homeschooling efforts; expand and
write down ANYTHING that pertains to your child and their learning
environment.
Insha'ALLAH we will all be around for many, many years. If we aren't,
though...our children need to be taken care of. Their lives will be
shattered. Any counselor who has dealt with grief will tell you that
children
and family members need familiar routines to hold the family together.
As they struggle to continue without you, leave behind the necessary
information to help your children. Be prepared. Make a bad situation a little
easier for those whose lives and hearts must go on.
MHE's "Be Prepared!" List
1.) List the main books you use with each subject. List the workbooks you use
with each subject. Your daily lesson plans should show where you are in
EACH book.
2.) List where you bought/obtained the main books and the workbooks. If
you order from Internet sites, list the URL pages and ordering information.
If there are any sites /companies you plan to use in the FUTURE which you
aren't using now, jot down your plans and that information!
3.) If you order / visit a homeschool store or other stores for texts
or workbooks, list the address, phone number, and directions how to get to
the store.
4.) If you buy supplies from the Internet or from a particular store,
supply the URL's and store information. Write down the supplies which
constantly
need restocking, and where you keep them in your home if you don't have
them located in one area.
5.) Your daily lesson plans should be in one folder, or lesson plans
should be with each subject. Put the current one on top.
6.) Have a concept list which shows the skills/concepts which have been
passed. Identify what skill/concept you are currently working on. How
do you test? Where do you get the material? How often is testing required?
What are your state laws which you need to comply with?
7.) List your typical daily routine. For example, the time you begin,
how long until you typically give a break, any unusual fun things you do
(like walking the neighborhood while memorizing math facts) and when you
typically end the day.
8.) Be sure and note routine "get togethers" with other children. List
their names and phone numbers. If you go to a park, name it and give
directions.
9.) List any homeschooling support groups that you belong to and include
their website URL's and phone numbers. Note which homeschool moms you
know who may be able to give advice/ help in your absence.
10.) Write down your child's learning style. Does he / she do better with
rote memorization on math, or with manipulatives and rote? Is your child
easily bored? What subjects are more difficult? How much time do you
normally spend on each subject?
11.) What level is your child reading books? What books have they read?
Make a list, and a list of recommended books. List the URL's of websites
which provide book reviews and lists of books by ages.
12.) Are there any relatives, friends, or neighbors who would be good
coaches
for a particular subject area? Write down their names and numbers. Many
people may volunteer to help (in the beginning!) and you may prefer
certain people. Make your wishes known.
I also keep all my receipts in one folder of textbook purchases. If I
ever want to resell them, I know what I paid!

NATIVE AMERICANS
('Red Indians') do not celebrate American Thanksgiving.
Understand their plight to understand what is happening to
AFGHANS
and
PALESTINIANS
today.

The imperialist attitude toward indigenous peoples, whether they be Native
American, or Afghan, has not changed. As the nation returns from
"Thanksgiving Day" (or more appropriately, "National Day of Mourning")
celebrations, we remember the Native people who lost their lives to
American
imperialism and racism. The report below, about the Sand Creek massacre
(of Native people of the Cheyenne Tribe), was reported in the annals of
the U.S. Congress. Twenty years ago, American Indian Movement
(AIM)
leader Vernon Bellecourt, stated that "You will be the next Indians, my
brothers
and sisters." Bellecourt's organization, which fought for the rights of
Native people, was targeted by the FBI as a "terrorist" organization.
Today
Bellecourt's words have been realized, and the faces of the victims of
Sand Creek have been replaced by those of Afghans and Arabs.
"Robert Bent, who was riding unwillingly with Colonel Chivington, said
that when they came in sight of the camp, 'I saw the American flag waving
and heard Black Kettle tell the Indians to stand around the flag, and
there they were huddled--men, women, and children. This was when we were
within fifty yards of the Indians. I also saw a white flag raised.
These flags were in so conspicuous a position that they must have been
seen.
When the troops fired, the Indians ran, some of the men into their
lodges, probably to get their arms...I think there were six hundred
Indians in all. I think there were thirty-five braves, and some old men,
about sixty in all...the rest of the men were away from the camp,
hunting....After the firing, the warriors put the squaws and children
together, and surrounded them to protect them. I saw five squaws under a
bank for shelter. When the troops came up to them, they ran out and
showed their persons to let the soldiers know they were squaws and
begged for mercy, but the soldiers shot them all.
I saw one squaw lying on the
bank whose leg had been broken by a shell; a soldier came up to her
with a
drawn saber; she raised her arm to protect herself, when he struck,
breaking her arm; she rolled over and raised her other arm, when he
struck, breaking it, and then left her without killing her.
There seemed to be indiscriminate slaughter of men, women, and
children. There were
some thirty or forty squaws collected in a hole for protection; they sent
out a little girl about six years old with a white flag on a stick; she
had not proceeded but a few steps when she was shot and killed.
All the squaws in that hole were afterwards killed, and four for five
bucks outside. The squaws offered no resistance. Every one I saw dead was
scalped. I saw one squaw cut open with an unborn child, as I thought,
lying by her side. Captain Soule afterwards told me that such was the
fact. I saw the body of White Antelope with the privates cut off,
and I heard a soldier say he was going to make a tobacco pouch out of
them. I saw one squaw whose privates had been cut out...I saw a little
girl about five years of age who had been hid in the sand; two soldiers
discovered her, drew their pistols and shot her, and then pulled her out
of the sand by the arm. I saw quite a number of infants in arms killed
with their mothers.'"

Before reading the following information, please note that EIDUL FITR
IS NOT IN THE QUR'AN. As we noted before, ZAKATUL FITR is NOT in the Qur'an
either.
The westoxicated elements and those under their indirect influence are
telling innocent Muslims that the Qur'an ALONE is needed and
Hadith
is not essential. Be aware of the various fitnas being spread by these
elements. Awareness is part of Islam.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF
EID

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EID - Unas (ra) reported that when the Prophet
Muhammad (saw) migrated from
Makkah
to Madinah, the people of Madinah used to have two
festivals. On those two days, they had carnivals and festivity. The
Prophet
Muhammad (saw) asked the Ansaar (the Muslims of Madinah) about it. They
replied that before Islam they used to have carnivals on those two
joyous days. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) told them: Instead of those two days,
Allah has appointed two other days which are better, the days of Eid-al-Fitr
and Eid-al-Adha.'' (Hadith)
EID-AL-FITR is celebrated on the first day of Shawwaal, at the completion of
Ramadan.
Shawwaal is the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. The Eid-al-Fitr
is a very joyous day; it is a true Thanksgiving Day for the believing
men and
women. On this day Muslims show their real joy for the health, strength
and the opportunities of life, which Allah has given to them to fulfill
their
obligation of fasting and other good deeds during the blessed month of
Ramadan.
THE SUNNAH OF EID: 1. Wake up early. 2. Offer Salatul Fajr. 3. Prepare
for personal cleanliness take care of details of clothing, etc. 4. Take a
Ghusl (ceremonial shower) after Fajr. 5. Brush your teeth. 6. Dress up,
putting on
the best clothes available, whether new or cleaned old ones. 6. Use perfume
(men only). 7. Have breakfast on Eid-al-Fitr before leaving for prayer
ground. 8. Pay Zakaat-al-Fitr before Salaat-al-Eid (on Eid-al-Fitr). 9.
Go to prayer ground early. 10. Offer Salaat-al-Eid in congregation in an open
place except when weather is not permitting like rain, snow, etc. 11. Use two
separate routes to and from the prayer ground. 12. Recite the following
Takbir on the way to Salaat and until the beginning of Salaat-al-Eid:
Allaho-Akber, Allaho-Akber. La ila-haill-lal-lah. Allaho-Akber,
Allaho-Akber.
Wa-lilahill hamd. (Allah is greater. Allah is greater. There is no god
but Allah. Allah is greater. Allah is greater. And all praises are for
Allah).
HOW TO OFFER SALAAT-AL-EID: Ibn Abbass (ra) reported: I participated in
the Salaat-al-Eid-al-Fitr with the Messenger of Allah (saw), Abu Bakr (ra),
Umar (ra) and Uthman (ra), and all of them held Salaat-al-Eid before
Khutbah, and then the Prophet Muhammad (saw) delivered the Khutbah(sermon).

WHO SHOULD GO TO THE PRAYER GROUND AND OFFER SALAAT-AL-EID: Umm Atiyah (ra)
reported: The Messenger of Allah (saw) commanded us to bring out on
Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha, young women, hijab-observing adult women
and the
menstruating women. The menstruating women stayed out of actual Salaat but
participated in good deeds and Duaa (supplication). I (Umm Atiyah) said
to the Holy Prophet (saw): O! Messenger of Allah, if one does not have an
outer
garment. He replied: Let her sister cover her with her garment. Hadith
Muslim.
On the Eid day, every believing man, woman, and child must go to the
prayer ground and participate in this joyous occasion.
STRUCTURE OF SALAAT-AL-EID: Salaat-al-Eid is wajib (strongly recommended,
just short of obligatory). It consists of two Rakaat (units) with six or
thirteen additional Takbirs. Itmust be offered in congregation. The
Salaat is followed by the Khutbah. The Khutbah is part of the worship and
listening to
it is Sunnah. During the Khutbah, the Imam must remind the community about
its responsibilities and obligations towards Allah, fellow Muslims, and the
fellow human beings. The Imam must encourage the Muslims to do good and
ward off evil. The Muslim community must also be directed to the state of
the community and the Ummah at large and the feelings of sacrifice and
Jihaad should be aroused in the community.
At the conclusion of the Salaat, the Muslims should convey greetings to
each
other, give reasonable gifts to the youngsters, and visit each other at
their homes. Muslims should also take this opportunity to invite their
non-Muslims
neighbors, co-workers, classmates, and business acquaintances to Eid
festivities to expose them to Islam and Muslim culture.
