WAR NEWS:
NOVEMBER 4:
Associated Press
reported parenthetically, at the end of a report on Iraq, that between
March 20 and April 20, more than 3500 civilians were killed in the
U.S.
bombing of Baghdad
(SHOCK and AWE).
However, the report says, these figures were only from 50% of the hospitals
receiving casualties. The total number of Iraqi civilians killed in Baghdad
during SHOCK and AWE is estimated at more than 7,000.

SADDAM ON THE OFFENSIVE:
November 2
A U.S. Chinook helicopter was shot down near Fallujah. At least 16 U.S.
troops were killed and 23 wounded. In another attack in Fallujah, two U.S.
civilian-military contractors were killed while another U.S. soldier was
killed in Baghdad.
NOVEMBER 3: In an attack in Tikrit, a U.S. soldier was killed and another
wounded.
NOVEMBER 4: In an attack in Baghdad, one U.S. soldier was killed, 2 wounded.
BRITISH MILITARY HQ announced that a British soldier was killed in an
attack today. [This news was not announced in the U.S. because it would
mess up the picture of "peace in the south."]
MORTAR SHELLS slammed into U.S. headquarters in Baghdad.

AFGHANISTAN
The bodies of two U.S. soldiers have been found near Kandahar.
In a fire fight, a third U.S. special forces man was fatally wounded by the
Taliban.
The Taliban seemed to have infiltrated some of the police forces. There was
a battle between the police and U.S.-armed "military forces" in the deep
south in which both sides suffered heavily. The commander of the military
looking for the Taliban was killed.
In the North, there have been a series of clashes between units of
Jamiate Islami and the communist Dostum militia with steady losses.
A
Turkish
engineer has been kidnapped by the Taliban who are demanding release of 6
Taliban.
The Taliban still respect the U.S. air force which killed 12 of them two
weeks back but huge tracts of Afghanistan are now under control of the
Taliban and their allies, the Hizbe Islami of Hikmatyar. This area of
control is gradually extending towards Kabul.
