Can Muslims Gain Anything from Saddam Hussain's
Defiance and
U.S.'s
Military
Campaign?
"....So lose not heart, nor fall into despair:
for ye will be uppermost if ye
are true in Faith. If a wound has touched you, be
sure a similar wound has
touched the others. Such days (of varying
fortunes) We give to people by
turns, that Allah may know those that believe,
and that He may take to
Himself from your ranks martyr-witnesses (to
Truth). And Allah loves not the
oppressors. Allah's purpose also is to purify
those that are true in Faith
and to deprive of blessing those that resist
Faith. Did ye think that ye
would enter Paradise without Allah knowing those
of you who fought hard and
knowing those who remained steadfast? Ye did
indeed yearn for death before ye
encountered it: Now ye have seen it with your own
eyes (and ye flinch!).
{The Qur'an 3:138-143}
The Islamic library of Baghdad, full of
Qur'ans and Islamic heritage,
has been burned down. The culture of centuries
has been looted from Baghdad's
central museum. After 15,000 bombs and 800 cruise
missiles, Iraq lies
prostrate under the
U.S.-Zionist
boot, betrayed
from within. Strangely
enough, this seeming disaster is probably the
prelude to Islamic victory.
Look at the facts which none can deny:
1. The entire world of Islam, at the mass level,
supported Iraq, the defiant
stance of Saddam Hussain, and condemned the U.S.
invasion, with the exception
of Iran and Kuwait. From Morocco to the
Philippines, from
Egypt-Sudan-Somalia
to
Nigeria
and Guinea, there was no doubt about
which side the masses were
on. From Arabia came fatwas supporting the
resistance. There is indeed a
Muslim ummah, a global power, one nation under
Allah.
2. Saddam Hussain never wavered in his defiance
of America's power. He knew
he had no chance against the firepower of a
juggernaut of 250,000
technologically advanced stormtroopers. He had no
air cover. The country had
gone through 12 years of sanctions and was
riddled with spies, agents and
traitors. Yet he chose to fight and went down
fighting. Thus the standard set
by the Taliban of "no surrender" was upheld once
again.
3. Whatever little moral standing the U.S. had,
has been eradicated by the
invasion. All the illusions of the Muslim world
about America as the nation
of Jesus, of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington
and Human Rights have been
shattered.
4. From now on no Muslim leader will be
acceptable who does not come up to,
at least, the standard set by the Taliban and
Saddam Hussain.
5. The global unity of the Muslim ummah
(99% support for Iraq, except in Iran
and Kuwait) is the basis on which the new world
of Islam can be built, with
people-to-people references.
6. The corrupt governments stand naked, isolated
among the rage and
disillusionment of their people, cowering behind
high security, all the way
from Musharraf, the
CIA's
agent in
Pakistan,
to
King Abdullah, the CIA's
agent in Jordan.
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE?
There should be two levels of Islamic response:
1. In Muslim majority countries, every Muslim,
male and female, should join
the movements for
Jihad.
In Pakistan and
Bangladesh, movements for Jihad in
Kashmir are still legal. In Arab countries,
movements for jihad in
Palestine,
in some shape or form are legal. In anti-Russian
countries, movements for the
struggle in
Chechnia
are legal (including some
European countries).
2. In those Muslim majority countries where jihad
movements are totally
illegal, such as those in the killer regimes in
Algeria, Libya, Uzbekistan
and India, Muslims should join charitable
organizations to help Muslims in
other countries.
3. In non-Muslim countries, the emphasis should
be on human rights work,
charitable work,
media
work and da'wah. Always
remember that large numbers of
non-Muslims are themselves oppressed by their
power structures and are our
natural allies.
4. Focus on the rights of political prisoners
held by the U.S., U.K. and
Israel.
Remember that political prisoners held in
Muslim countries are often
in trouble because the rulers want to please
their masters in these three
power structures. When we speak for the rights of
Shaikh Omar ‘Abdel Rahman,
Imam Jamil al-Amin,
Mumia Jamal, Leonard Peltier,
Siddique Abdullah Hasan,
Victor Alvarez, Sis. Haila Gabr, SHAIKH FAISAL in
U.K., the Guantanamo
victims, the Lackawanna Six and many others, we
are speaking for political
prisoners all over the world.
