SUPPORTERS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST
COCA-COLA
On July 22,
Sis. Motisola M. Abdallah,
Secretary-General of
Jamaat al-Muslimeen,
addressed a press conference in
Washington DC to show support for
the workers of Columbia, South America, who are
facing serious oppression by
Coca-Cola.
Speaking at the National Press Club, dressed
in all-white Hijab, Sis.
Abdallah, who arrived from Atlanta, called for
worldwide solidarity to
BOYCOTT
COCA-COLA. The Muslim and Arab peoples, she said,
should join hands with the
people of Columbia to stop the depredations of
Coca-Cola.
The press conference was organized by the
A.N.S.W.E.R.
Coalition. Among
speakers from various cities was Teresa
Gutierrez, a trade unionist from
Columbia who has been forced into exile owing to
her opposition to Coca-Cola's
anti-labor actions. Her speech, translated into
English, indicated that a number
of trade unionists opposed to Coca-Cola have
actually been murdered in Columbia.
[Most of the speakers did not know of
Coca-Cola's connection to
Israel.]
[The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition plans to hold a MASS
RALLY in Washington, DC
against the occupation of
Iraq
on October 25.]
