Thinking of my Best Teacher
by Kaukab Siddique, PhD
September 22 is the anniversary of Maulana Maudoodi.
The most important aspect of his character is that he kept
changing for the better, never taking the attitude that he
knows it all and there is no more to learn. His tafseer of
the Qur'an, Tafheem ul Quran, reflects this process of
development.
He broke new ground in teaching that Islam has within it the
principles of Constitutionalism and the emergence of the
Islamic State.
His explanation and analysis of Hadith and Sunnah is still
the best as can be seen in his Sunnat ki Aini haisiat. He
was always willing to learn from past scholars but never got
stuck with one.
He did not hate. His tolerance of those who hated him or had
serious differences with him is amazing. His daughter has
written a beautiful book about him. Here is an instance of
his tolerance: He and his family prayed in a neighborhood
mosque whose imam hated him and would attack him even in his
khutbas. In one khutba the imam went beyond all limits of
hate. Maudoodi's family asked why he still prays in that
mosque. Maudoodi's response: In all my studies I have not
seen a text that you should not pray behind an imam who
opposes Maudoodi.
His political teachings earned him the animosity of every
Pakistani government but his organization, Jamate Islami,
shaped Pakistani ideology without becoming violent. He was
imprisoned repeatedly but always came out stronger. He was
sentenced to death for questioning the legitimacy of the
Qadiani ["Ahmadiyya"] movement but refused to ask for
mercy.
Even today his movement, Jamate Islami, now led by a humble
person, Sirajul Haq, is the only Pakistani party which has
not been accused of corruption or for links with western
powers. It has tens of thousands of supporters but cannot
win elections owing to rejection of manipulative
funding.
Pakistan
Dawn is reporting the emergence of "militants" in Swat
who have blown up a militia leader and his associates
brought by the regime. [8 killed]
Pakistani Taliban are reportedly organizing.
Afghanistan has complained that US drones are entering
Taliban territory from Pakistan.
USA is again giving millions of dollars to the Pak military
to fight the armed Islamic groups.
[ Question: Was the attack on Rushdie, which injured him for
the rest of his life, in retaliation for the hellfire attack
on Al-Zawahiri? Hellfire chops up the victim. Is that why no
one can find him?]

How did Shaikh Hasina slide into Power
by Dr. Firoz Kamal [Intro]
Shaikh Hasina - like her father Shaikh Mujibur Rahman, used
and abused democratic rights to snatch people's rights. Her
party was defeated several times fair elections. But
fascists can't tolerate electoral defeats, hence hate fair
elections. This is why they take electoral tools into their
own hands. Therefore , after coming into power in 2008 by
making a coalition with other fascists' organizations, the
army and the deep state, Shaikh Hasina abolished the neutral
caretaker formula introduced in 1991. Shaikh Hasina has a
deep distaste for such a nonpartisan fair electoral system.
She rightly understood that a neutral caretaker government
is a bar to her further victory. Under the caretaker
government, she already lost two elections out of three.
While she lost in 2001, she was reluctant to leave the Prime
Minister's residence. so she made up her mind not to lose
any further election in the future. Hence when she came to
power in 2008, she wanted everything in her own hand. She
wanted to use the state machineries to manipulate any
election results. So she started to have her fixed electoral
games. She started appointing only her own umpires.

Baltimore
After 20 Years of Suffering.
Hope emerges for Adnan Syed
[Jamaat al-Muslimeen urges Muslims in Masjid Rahma to
realize how unjust is the American system.
Speak out for other victims of the system like Dr. Aafia and Imam Jamil
Stop being chamchas of the western powers.]
Syed was convicted in 2000 of killing his ex-girlfriend
Prosecutors in Baltimore say they are re-examining the
murder conviction of a Baltimore teenager in a case that
spawned a hit true-crime podcast.
Adnan Syed was 17 when he was sentenced to life in prison
for the death of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, whose body
was found buried in the woods in 1999.
Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby said an investigation now
points to two other possible suspects.
The 2014 podcast Serial raised doubts about Syed's
guilt.
On Wednesday, Mrs Mosby asked the courts to throw out Syed's
February 2000 conviction and put him on trial again.
"After a nearly year-long investigation reviewing the facts
of this case, Syed deserves a new trial where he is
adequately represented and the latest evidence can be
presented," the prosecutor said in a statement.
"As stewards of the court, we are obligated to uphold
confidence in the integrity of convictions and do our part
to correct when this standard has been comprised."
Syed was found guilty by a jury in 2000 of premeditated
murder, kidnapping, robbery and false imprisonment
Both of the new potential suspects have been known to police
since the 1999 murder, according to a court filing submitted
by prosecutors on Wednesday.
One of the two - neither of whom has been named by officials
- had previously threatened "to make her [Lee] disappear" or
kill her, the documents say.
Prosecutors did not inform Adnan's defence team of the
potentially exculpatory evidence, which poses a possible
trial violation.
Lee's car was also found behind the home of one of the
suspects, officials added. That information was not
discovered until 2022, according to Mrs Mosby's office.
Prosecutors are not saying they believe Syed - who has now
spent more than two decades in a Baltimore jail - is
innocent.
"However, for all the reasons set forth below, the State no
longer has confidence in the integrity of the conviction,"
they said in their court filing.
Syed's lawyer, Erica Suter, said in a news release: "Given
the stunning lack of reliable evidence implicating Mr Syed,
coupled with increasing evidence pointing to other suspects,
this unjust conviction cannot stand.
"Mr Syed is grateful that this information has finally seen
the light of day and looks forward to his day in court."
Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani, head of West Coast
Trial Lawyers, said there is "almost no chance" Syed will
face another trial considering how long he has been in
prison, and the growing possibility he is innocent.
Serial Productions, which produced the podcast, tweeted
"this is big news," and noted that it is the first time that
prosecutors have said they do not have confidence in his
conviction.
In 2019, the state's highest appeals court turned down his
bid for a new trial.
The podcast Serial suggested the evidence it had unearthed
from alibi witness Asia McClain could have corroborated
Syed's account that he was in the library when his
ex-girlfriend was killed.
He has consistently denied playing any role in Lee's death

Devastating Expose of the Anne Frank Diary
This is what we are usually told and it became a global best
seller.
No single person better represents the face of the Holocaust
than Anne Frank. As a 13-year-old Jewish girl living in
wartime Amsterdam, she hid out with seven other Jews for
over two years. During this time, she kept a diary of her
thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Eventually, the Frank
family was discovered and deported; Anne later died of
typhus in Bergen-Belsen at the age of 15. But her diary
lives on. Today, The Diary of Anne Frank is an icon of
Jewish suffering amidst the vast sea of Holocaust
literature, and Anne herself has become a high priestess in
the pantheon of Holocaust martyrs.
Anne's diary is compulsory reading for many school students
around the world. Therefore, its influence on the shaping of
young minds cannot be underestimated. While millions of
people know of Anne's story, very few know of the many
problems with it.
Here is the critique
As it turns out, Anne's tale is rife with absurdities,
logical problems, inconsistencies, and incoherent claims.
Here, Japanese researcher Ikuo Suzuki deconstructs Anne's
famous dairy, exposing the many issues lying just below the
surface. In the process, he unmasks the truth: that the
notorious diary was likely written by a middle-aged Jewish
man who worked in conjunction with Anne's father, Otto, to
foist upon the public a deceptive and highly misleading
story of a young teenage girl who perished in a German camp.
Here, for the first time, Suzuki presents a thorough,
detailed, and highly readable critique of the global
bestseller that is Anne Frank's Diary. Far and away the best
critical analysis of the famous diary, this book fills a
badly needed gap in contemporary revisionist literature.
Our view of Anne Frank - and of all Jews who suffered in the
Holocaust - will never be the same.
