Islam's Greatest Warrior, Khalid, r.a. [ibn al-Waleed] was a
dangerous Enemy but the Prophet, pbuh, saw the Good in
Him.
He raised the Black Flag of Islam on the way to Damascus
after Defeating Huge Numbers of Opposing armies.

Let us look at an aspect of Khalid's (r.a.) SPIRITUALITY. He
is reported to have gone to the Prophet, pbuh, as late as
the 8th year of the Hijra (on the first of Safar) to embrace
Islam. Khalid (r.a.) himself narrates:
"When I came in front of the messenger of Allah, peace and
blessings of Allah be on him, I said peace be on you o
Prophet of Allah. He very graciously said: peace be on you
too. I said I accept Islam and I bear witness to the truth,
that there is no God but Allah and you are His messenger.
The messenger of Allah, peace be on him, said I want you to
follow your good understanding and I hope that your
understanding will not lead you to anything but good.After I
did the bai'at [oath of allegiance], I said: I Have done
much harm in stopping people from the way of Allah. Please
pray for me that I be forgiven. He (the Prophet, pbuh) said:
Embracing Islam cancels out all previous sins. I insisted: O
messenger of Allah, do pray for my forgiveness. He (the
Prophet) prayed: 'O Allah! In whatever ways Khalid ibn
al-Waleed has done harm in stopping people from Your way,
forgive him for it." [Tabaqat of Ibn Saad, vol.4., "Sahaba
who embraced Islam before the conquest of Makka."]
So, here we have the human being changing and transforming
himself. Instead of SECTARIAN HAGIOGRAPHY where no person
from Ali's (r.a) line ever did anything wrong, we have
Khalid (r.a.) himself insisting that he had done wrong and
urging the Prophet (pbuh) to pray for him. This is real
Islam, believable and related to actual human beings.
Humility is one of the GREATEST VIRTUES in ISLAM, as opposed
to TAKKABUR or arrogance, the idea that "I can do no wrong",
which is one of the greatest sins, committed by Iblis
himself according to the Qur'an.
EVEN AT THE GREAT BATTLE OF MAUTA where Khalid (r.a.) turned
a terrible defeat into an amazing victory, Khalid (r.a.) was
very humble in accepting the leadership of the Islamic army.
He was the best of generals, the greatest general the
Islamic world has ever known, but watch his humility:
"Zaid ibn Thabit (r.a.) narrates that in the battle of Mauta
when the (three) commanders were killed, Thabit ibn Arqam
took the banner (of Islam) and started calling out: O people
of Ansar. People starred turning towards him. He saw Khalid
ibn al-Waleed and said: O Abu Sulayman, take the banner!
Khalid said: I will not accept it. You are more deserving of
it. YOU ARE OLDER AND YOU WERE PRESENT AT BADR. Thabit said:
O man. Take it! By Allah! I was only bringing it for you.
Thabit said: O people do you agree on Khalid? They said:
Yes, we are. Khalid took the banner and kept it aloft for a
while. The unbelievers directed their attack on him but he
remained firm. When the unbelievers wavered a little,
Khalid, with his companions, attacked, separating one wing
of the enemy force from the other. Then Khalid regrouped the
(Islamic) army and defeated the enemy's troops" (TABAQAT of
Ibn Saad, Vol.4., Ibid)
[Abu Hazim narrates from Khalid ibn al-Waleed (r.a.) On the
day of MAUTA, SEVEN SWORDS BROKE IN MY HAND one after the
other (in intense battle) till I was left with one big
YEMENI sword in my hand. Sahih of Imam Bukhari, kitab
al-Maghazi.]
Khalid ibn al-Waleed (r.a.) took part in many campaigns. He
was bursting with Islamic enthusiasm. This does not mean
that he had become perfect or that the past way of life had
been totally expurgated and he was now like an angel. In
some campaigns he was over hasty. He killed some people of
Banu Jadhima even while they were laying down their arms and
were announcing peace. The Prophet (pbuh) was very hurt by
Khalid's (r.a.) action and repudiated the action. Khalid
(r.a.) was rough with one of the companions of the Prophet
(pbuh), Abdur Rahman ibn 'Auf (r.a.). Again, he was
corrected by the Prophet (pbuh).
These two incidents are honestly and correctly narrated in
our hadith literature. No attempt has been made to conceal
the barbarity of these actions. The Prophet (pbuh) with the
great wisdom Allah had given him, REPUDIATED KHALID's (r.a.)
ACTIONS but kept Khalid (r.a) in the service of Islam. THE
PROPHET (pbuh) was right and Khalid's (r.a.) CRITICS
(including our sectarians), were wrong. After these errors,
Khalid's struggle to serve Islam and to smash the power of
oppressive empires is so great that it has few (if any
equals) in human history.
In spite of some of Khalid's (r.a.) actions, the sahaba
thought of Khalid (r.a.) just as the Prophet (pbuh) did,that
he was a SWORD OF ALLAH. Hence when the Islamic armies
crossed the deserts to topple the oppressive empires of the
time (the U.S. and USSR of the time) Khalid (r.a.) was
brilliant and outshone the extraordinary commanders and
heroic fighters of the Islamic forces. He was the best among
the best.
During the Caliphate of Abu Bakr (r.a.), Khalid (r.a.) was
often in command of the Islamic armies. In one battle he
killed an apostate named Ibn Nuwaira. There was a dispute
among the Muslims as to whether Ibn Nuwaira was going to
make peace and was wrongfully killed by Khalid (r.a.). Here
we find another incident which historians in other religions
would have tried to conceal. Some hadith narrations say that
'Umar (r.a.) was convinced that Khalid (r.a.) was wrong in
the case of Ibn Nuwaira and this is said to be the reason
why 'Umar (r.a.) removed Khalid (r.a.) from the command of
the Islamic army when he became Caliph. (Tabari's Tarikh,
vol.2.)
However, like the Prophet (pbuh), Abu Bakr (r.a.) gave
command of various Islamic armies to Khalid (r.a.). The
Islamic content of Khalid's (r.a.) leadership was recognized
by the entire ummah, so much so that on the way to DAMASCUS,
"KHALID PAUSED AT A PLACE TO RAISE THE BANNER OF THE
MESSENGER OF ALLAH, PEACE AND BLESSINGS OF ALLAH BE ON HIM.
Since then the site is known as 'The Site of the Banner. The
flag was black in color." [Futuh al-Buldan by Ahmed
al-Buladhuri, died 279 A.H., chapter on "Khalid's March on
Damascus and the Places he conquered on the way."]
In 13 Hijri in the month of Jamada al-Awwal, Khalid (r.a.)
scored a victory for Islam which changed the history of the
middle east. With a small force, he routed a European army
of nearly 100,000 troops. Known as the battle of Ajnadin,
this battle in itself is enough to place Khalid (r.a.) among
the greatest generals of Islam for all time to come.
Al-Baladhuri writes: "On that day, Khalid ibn al-Waleed
displayed tremendous bravery and chivalry. The enemy forces
were dispersed and large numbers of them were slain in the
battle."(Futuh al-Buldan, chapter on The Day of
Ajnadin.)
'Umar (r.a.) removed Khalid (r.a.) from the leadership of
the battle formations. At that time Khalid (r.a.) had won a
string of victories and was extremely popular among the
forces. He could have shown reluctance to obey 'Umar's
(r.a.) order to hand over command to Abu Ubaidah (r.a.) but
Khalid (r.a.) had mastered his self so well that he did not
hesitate at all. In fact Abu Ubaidah (r.a.), the new
commander was shy of telling him the Caliph's orders.
Khalid's(r.a.) ego was that of a mu'min. He continued to
fight as a part of the Islamic army. His units played a key
role in the capture of Damascus. The peace instrument Khalid
(r.a.) gave to the Bishop of Damascus is of historic
importance. Europe cannot boast of anything comparable in
its wars. Khalid (r.a.) wrote:
"In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
This is the document khalid ibn al-Waleed gave to the people
of Damascus when he entered the city. He gave peace and
protection to their lives, to their goods, to their churches
and to the protective ramparts of their city. None of their
homes will be taken over as dwellings (by the Muslim
troops). This guarantee is given to them by Allah's trust
and the guarantee of Allah's messenger, peace be on him, his
vicegerents and the believers in general. If they pay jizya
taxes, good will be done to them."

According to al-Waqidi, Damascus was conquered in Rajab of
14 Hijri.
The virtues of Khalid, r.a., sword of Allah, are too many to
recount in one article. His dash across the Arabian desert,
his spiritual experience in the middle of war to carry out
an Umrah to Makka, his consultation with a woman (his
sister) to decide on 'Umar's orders, are beautiful episodes
which I would have liked to discuss.
O Sword of Allah, the Ummah of Islam is indebted to you for
all time to come. The world has not produced many who can
compare with you.

Jamaate Islami Deeply Concerned over Indian Atrocities in
Occupied Kashmir and Pakistani Silence.

LAHORE- July 2: The so-called international champions of
human rights should die of shame on the incident of brutal
killing of 65-year-old Kashmiri in front of his grandson in
the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq said this while
talking to newly elected Emir of JI AJK chapter Dr Khalid
Mahmood at Mansoora on Thursday.
He said the UN, international community and Pakistani
government played a criminal role over the atrocities in the
Indian Occupied. They were, he added, showing no concern on
the Kashmiri genocide in the held valley. He said the
occupied forces had killed thousands of Kashmiri youth and
put a large number in prison. Infect, he added, the occupied
valley had turned into the largest prison of the world in
Modi rule.
He said it was matter of great concern no session of Kashmir
Committee was held in past nine months. He asked the
government to take bold stand against New Delhi plan and
made decisive step for the freedom of Kashmir.
LAHORE- July 2: Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ameerul
Azim has asked the government to renovate six Hindu temples
in twin cities instead of building new one in Islamabad.
Every government in Pakistan took the exhibitionnary steps
for the minorities only to prove it secular and liberal in
the eyes of the West, he said in a statement issued from
Mansoora on Thursday. Instead of showoffs, he said, the
government should provide quality education, good health
facilities and employment opportunities to the minorities.
The rulers, he said, were also expected to provide
opportunity to the majority to spend their lives according
the spirit of Islam. He called for introducing Islamic
system of education, interest free economy and promotion of
Islamic culture in the country.

Governor Andrew Cuomo just signed the Eric Garner
Anti-Chokehold Law.

I was watching Community Cop with co-hosts Noel Leader and
Julian Harper and as usual they had an interesting
perspective on recent events.
According to Noel Leader, this Eric Garner Anti-Chokehold
Law has no teeth and that even under this new law Daniel
Pantaleo would not be convicted.
Daniel Pantaleo is the ex-detective who used the chokehold
on Eric Garner. Leader stated that Pantaleo was vindicated
in his use of the chokehold because the medical examiner
attributed Garner's death to obesity and a heart attack,
this in spite of the fact that Garner repeatedly stated, "I
can't breathe," while Pantaleo was on his back using a
chokehold. It was never even stated that this chokehold
contributed to Garner's death in the coroner's report.
Noel Leader said the chokehold has actually been banned
beginning in the 1980s, nationwide.
He also stated that there are no need for any new laws, we
need convictions. There are enough laws on the books that,
if used properly, can get these criminal cops convicted.
Last week, co-host Michael Greys said that people ask the
wrong questions about criminal cop behavior, such as were
they following guidelines or did they violate any laws?
Greys said that the only question to ask is, "Was it
necessary?" For instance, many of these deaths have resulted
while the suspect was rendered defenseless with handcuffs,
sitting at a traffic light, or running away. So, was it
really necessary to apply a chokehold or shoot this person
50 times?
The co-hosts mentioned concern for the Ahmaud Arbery murder
case and how it is being handled. Two prosecutors looked at
the evidence and claimed that the three White men arrested
were justified in this killing and refused to bring charges.
They discussed how prosecutors and judges protect the
accused police officers thereby encouraging more criminal
behavior. Many of these prosecutors sympathize with the
accused and put together weak prosecutions.
In one case a police detective was allowed to plead guilty
to one count of perjury although his lies and destruction of
evidence allowed three innocent Black men to given 55 year
sentences! In another case, an officer caught on video using
excessive force was acquitted by a judge. Julian Harper
stated that even if an officer must be suspended without pay
many fellow officers will take up collection plates and
conduct other fundraisers for this officer. So, these
officers rarely face any real punishment.
He reminded the audience that when these criminal officers
are acquitted they become police sergeants then, captains
then police chiefs. When other officers, under their
command, are accused of using excessive force or engaging in
the same criminal behavior, they are not reprimanded but,
are protected by these same corrupt, racist individuals.
The police force has its roots in White supremacist culture
however, I disagree with the Community Cop co-hosts when
they say that the only solution is Black Nationalism. Black
Nationalism was an ideology established to unite people,
world-wide, based on their common African ancestry for
empowerment against White oppression.
Besides nationalism having no place in Islam, just as racism
and sexism do not, the Qur'an is a far superior guidebook
against oppression. I am speaking as a Muslim and am not
knocking any of Allah's previous works.
Islam has its roots in ending oppression, including slavery.
Nationalism has its roots in xenophobia and
superiority-complexes.
The Romans were the first to engage in nationalism by taxing
residents for not being Roman. This nationalism has extended
to Italian cuisine where the red, white, and green colors of
the Italian flag must be reflected in the ingredients
chosen.
The only way to defeat the devil is with God-conscious
strategies, not using the same tools he uses to oppress.
Black Nationalists can become just as xenophobic as White
Nationalists or Supremacists, even if it is not for the same
reasons.
Palestine
British Diplomacy Defends Israel and Legitimizes Annexation
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's op-ed for YNet news
reflects all that is wrong with speaking out against
annexation "as Israel's friend". Israel has diplomatic
allegiances and acquaintances; "friendship" is the euphemism
used to make colonialism and collaboration endearing to the
undiscerning.
It is no surprise that Johnson's op-ed drew upon privileged
personal experiences as opposed to British colonial
involvement in Palestine. The Balfour Declaration of
November 1917 was depicted in full to complement Johnson's
ramblings, a blatant assertion that reminds Britain of the
role it played in facilitating the Zionist colonization of
Palestine. Indeed, Johnson pointed out that he is "immensely
proud of the UK's contribution to the birth of Israel with
the 1917 Balfour Declaration."
t is therefore hypocritical for the British PM to state that
the UK will not recognize any changes to the 1967 borders,
as if having pride in the Balfour Declaration will influence
British-Israeli diplomacy. Like the rest of the
international community, Britain will not do anything other
than condemning the formalization of historical colonial
land theft. In this regard, the UN has set a prime example
in passing off rhetorical condemnations as adequate
political action.
There is no incentive for the UK or any other country in the
world to go beyond superficial opposition to Israel's
actions. Months after the first Israeli public declaration
about annexing over 30 percent of the occupied West Bank,
the international community is still debating how to retain
its diplomatic edge over the US through the two-state
compromise. At the same time, the international community
has not completely ruled out collaborating on the Trump
administration's so-called deal of the century.
Johnson's writing added nothing of value for Israel; its
impunity derived from international acceptance of its
colonial project is sufficient. However, the British Prime
Minister was clearly exposing how the UK, and the
international community, employ the narrative of being "a
passionate defender of Israel" to legitimize the complacency
shown towards violations of international law.
Johnson has not followed Israel's political plans to annex
the occupied West Bank "with sadness", as he claimed. Like
other world leaders, he has followed the new phase of
Israeli colonization as a de facto next step in the process
that they have all facilitated and condoned.
Israel is not placing itself in jeopardy, as Johnson and
other "defenders of Israel" claim. The US has committed
itself to ensure that Israel retains the best military and
logistics in the region, and it contributes billions of
dollars for Israeli hegemony to thrive.
Annexation will not come at any cost for the occupation
state, and the international community would do well to stop
propagating this misinformation, especially not when
normalized relations with Arab and Gulf states have been
accomplished, after decades of Arab leaders betraying the
Palestinians' anti-colonial resistance.
Israel's friends are no friends to the Palestinian people.
While politicians such as Johnson and US President Donald
Trump might stand out due to their statements, the fact that
"friends of Israel" navigate international political
platforms without opposition must be pointed out, in
particular as Israel formalizes colonialism and the
Palestinian Authority, once again, begs for negotiations in
which Palestinians are perpetually disadvantaged.
Let us not forget that it will be Israel's diplomatic allies
who are calculating the future best trajectories towards yet
more loss of Palestinian territory.

China Suppression Of Uighur Minorities Meets U.N. Definition
Of Genocide
NPR's Scott Simon speaks with China expert Adrian Zenz about
his research uncovering evidence of birth prevention and
mass female sterilization of Uighur Muslims in China.
TRANSCRIPT:
SCOTT SIMON, HOST: A new report in Foreign Policy says that
China's suppression of Uighurs, Kazakhs and other chiefly
Muslim ethnic minorities in northwest China now meets the
United Nations definition of genocide, mass sterilization,
forced abortions and mandatory birth control part of a
campaign that has swept up more than 1.5 million people and
what researcher Adrian Zenz calls probably the largest
incarceration of an ethnoreligious minority since the
Holocaust. Adrian Zenz joins us from Minneapolis. Mr. Zenz,
thanks so much for being with us.
ADRIAN ZENZ: Thank you.
SIMON: Those words are stunning. Outline for us, if you can,
what you found.
ZENZ: I was able to uncover dedicated policies by Beijing in
the region to systematically suppress birthrates and depress
population growth. I uncovered evidence that the Uighurs are
subject to internment in camps if they violate birth control
policies, have too many children. I also uncovered that
there's tools to implement intrauterine contraceptive
devices and other intrusive surgical birth prevention
mechanisms in at least 80% of the targeted women.
SIMON: Eighty percent.
ZENZ: That's the minimum goal for 2019, but I personally
believe that the actual was closer probably to 90%.
SIMON: It is notoriously difficult to do research on the
Chinese government, and specifically their policies on the
Uighur population. How did you conduct the research? Do you
trust the data?
ZENZ: I do trust the data, which, as before, comes from
different types of Chinese government documents, firstly
from the Xinjiang National Health Commission, whose website
has subsequently gone offline since the publication of my
report, from local prefecture government websites and from
county websites. We're talking budgets with very detailed
target indicator figures, reports, policy documents.
SIMON: People need to be careful using the word genocide.
Why do you think it's justified and important to use it
now?
ZENZ: I have long argued that the atrocity in the region is
a cultural genocide, not a literal genocide. I do continue
to believe that, generally speaking, the Chinese government
does not intend to physically eradicate the Uighurs and
Kazakhs, just to integrate, subjugate, dominate and
assimilate them. However, this is coupled with a policy of
ethnoracial domination, as the government has brought
millions of Han Chinese settler in the regions with promises
of high salaries, jobs and free housing.
The reason why now this has changed - we do need to probably
call it a genocide - is quite simply because the evidence
now, for the first time, very specifically meets one of the
five criteria set forth by the United Nations Convention for
the Punishment and Prevention of the Crime of Genocide from
1948, which specifically says the suppression of birth.
SIMON: The U.N. has said that up to 1.5 million Uighurs are
in internment camps in China. China says this is to contain
the threat of terrorism and to reeducate people in the camps
to become better Chinese citizens. Behind those statistics
are real human lives that have been upended. I wonder what
some of the stories you've been able to discover have
reached into you the most.
ZENZ: Stories that are among the most harrowing, of course,
are stories of abuse, stories of women being caught up by
the police and, as they're being brought to the internment
camp, the first thing is that they're told, you're going to
go on the surgery table, and we're going to put an
intrauterine contraceptive device into your body, because
that's standard policy for women who are put into a camp.
Other women report of forced sterilization, of abuse, even
accounts of rape.
SIMON: A word like genocide is also supposed to provoke the
world to act. What do you believe should or can be done, Mr.
Zenz?
ZENZ: I think China needs to face consequences by exclusion
or sanctioning from multilateral institutions, either
political or possibly economic sanctions, given that we also
have a situation of forced labor. I think the international
community got to start to think real hard how, with what
kind of actions it's going to back up its professed and
supposed moral values.
SIMON: Adrian Zenz is a senior fellow in China studies at

Let's relate with the watchword and goal of Alija
Izetbegovic , former president of Republic of Bosnia and
Herzegovina, of his popular book titled "The Islamic
Declaration". It is noteworthy that this book earned him
prison under the government of Joseph Titto. Through the
power of pen, Alija declared a rather psychological warfare
against anything unislamic in this book.
In the course of his trial, the judge pleaded profusely to
Alija not to make statement relating to the book , but
allowed him to make just one sentence. Alija replied with
what appeared to be most shocking comment, given the
circumstances leading to this trial; Alija said, " I want
all homes to be Muslim's"! The judge was furious at this and
gave him a second chance to rephrase, to which Alija put to
mean that he wanted all Muslims homes to be Muslim homes.
If all Muslims homes were truly Muslims homes, Nigeria
Muslim circle would not be this badly dented! If Muslim

clear that our image has been dented almost beyond repair
through the criminal activities of fraction of lazy youths,
who choose to make fraud their means of livelihood. Kingpins
of many of these dastardly syndicates answer names that
identify with Islam.
Trending now is the matter of a Raymond Abbas Igbalode who
goes by the nickname Husspupi. This young man takes delight
in defrauding big international companies and
governments,and thereafter flaunts his ill-gotten wealth on
the social media. Husspupi is currently being tried for a
fraud of multi million dollars connecting both the
government of United States and United Arab Emirates.
Imagine a trait of Islam ( as his name suggests) in the life
of this rogue from his background, he would have known that
whether he was legitimate in his dealings or fraudulently
smart, he would only get his destined provision in this
ephemeral world. If he had a good Islamic role model in his
family, he would know how stupid it was to show off.
There is also a particular popular musician who is also a
role model of anything despicable! His real name is
AbdulAzeez Aregbeshola with the stage name 'Naira Marley'.
It is reliably rumored that this boy was enrolled and
graduated from Quranic school. But it's certain that his
home was never a Muslim home.
Naira Marley can be said to have captured 70% of Nigerian
youths into his intellectual bondage. Rules of his open cult
are religiously adhered to by his followers, regardless of
their status in the society: Marlians first identify is weed
smoking; Marlians don't wear underwear (both male and
female), Marlians don't respect no one, including
constituted authorities.
Readers of this piece are enjoyed to note there are many
Nigerians who are good, loyal, sincere, reliable and
religious- it would be unfair and disheartening to make a
generalization that all Nigerians are bad. The bad ones
could have done much damages ,truly, but they are just in
the least minority.
