Hadith of the Week
Islam is the name of a Process.
Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal, r.a.
I said to Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him): Inform me
about an act which would entitle me to get into Paradise,
and remove me away from Hell-Fire. He (the Prophet) said:
You have asked me about a matter (which ostensibly appears
to be) difficult but it is easy to those for whom Allah, the
Exalted, has made it easy. Worship Allah and do not
associate anything with him, establish prayer, pay the
Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan and perform Hajj to the
(sacred) House (Ka'bah). He again said: Should I not direct
you to the gateways of good? Listen to me: The fasting is a
shield against evil, the charity extinguishes (the fire of
sin) just as water extinguishes fire, the prayer of a person
during the middle of the night. Then he recited: 'Who
forsake their beds.(up to).they used to do.' Then he said:
Should I not direct you to the highest level of this matter,
to the pillar on which (it rests) and its top? I said:
Allah's Messenger yes, (do tell me). He said: The uppermost
level of the matter is al-Islam. Its pillar is the prayer
and its top is Jihad. He then said: Should I not inform you
of the sheet anchor of all this? I said: Allah's messenger
(of course do it). He took hold of his tongue and said:
Exercise restraint on it. I said: Messenger of Allah, would
we be held responsible for what we say with it? Thereupon he
said: Mu'adh, may your mother be bereaved. Will anything
else besides (irresponsible) talk cause the people to be
thrown into the Hell-Fire upon their faces or on their
nostrils?

Quds Day at Dupont Circle, Washington, DC:
About 200 People Rallied for Palestine.
[Info from Nadrat Siddique compiled by New Trend Staff.]
(Photo above shows the Jamaat al-Muslimeen placard,
humble but to the point.)
On July 1, after the last juma of Ramadan, nearly 200 people
ralied in support of Palestine and against Israeli
atrocities at a high traffic area of Washington, DC known as
Dupont Circle.
There was a powerful speech by Imam Ali Siddiqui who is a
popular speaker at various mosques in the Virginia-Maryland
area.
Ms. Luci Murphy sang about the hopes and aspirations of the
Palestinian people.
Rev. Graylan Hagler, originally from Baltimore, senior
minister of the Plymouth Congregational United Church in DC,
gave comparisons between the suffering of African Americans
and those of Palestinians. His experiences as a Black man in
America and his experience while visiting occupied Palestine
were amazingly similar.
The leader of this annual event is Imam Muhammad al-Asi who
also addresses juma prayers outside the Islamic Center of
Washington, DC.
Afeef Khan of Crescent International also spoke well.
Jamaat al-Muslimeen's one placard saying "No to Zionism and
Racism from Gaza to Baltimore" attracted the most attraction
from motorists because it was near the roadway.
Photo below shows Ms. Luci Murphy singing about
Palestine.
Feedback from a Reader
Charity Can be Given to Non-Muslims. Appreciation of Imam
Badi Ali's Teaching.
JazakaAllah and many personal thanks especially for your
bold opinion and saying it in so many words that
'charity'--zakat can be given to all needy persons men and
women and not simply Muslims. This and many similar issues
make one the target of anger and rejection by the ignorant
closed minds among us. I hope you will stay firm and keep
saying like this always. I never hesitate to agree with what
I think is right and disagree with anything which I consider
incorrect and also remain ready to accept and change when I
find my stance misplaced on issues. I think this is the
right thing to do . I am sharing it with others who need to
know .
Turkey [Changing Turkish Attitude. Back with Russia and
Israel. Istanbul Airport Attacked -New Trend media
monitor]:
Before the attack on Ataturk airport, Turkey renewed its
relationship with Israel and mended fences with Russia and
even offered to pay for the Russian jet it had shot
down.
At the Turkish-Syrian border, Turkish soldiers opened fire
killing17 Syrian refugees who had no idea that Turkey has
changed its policy. They were trying to cross into
Turkey.
Then came the attack on the airport in which 36 people were
killed and 147 wounded. Was it in response to Turkey's
alliance with Israel and softening towards Russia? Turkey is
blaming ISIS which does seem correct although ISIS has not
claimed it.

- 1904 Olympics
July 1, 1904 - In the summer of 1904, St. Louis, Missouri,
hosted the Olympics—the third Olympics of the modern
era and the first to be held in an American city. The games
were held July 1 to November 23, with the main focus on
events between August 29 and September 3.
The St. Louis Olympics were held in conjunction with (and
took a backseat to) the St. Louis World's Fair, which
occurred simultaneously. This meant that many of the Fair's
sporting events were called "Olympic," even when they didn't
meet Olympic standards, but it's estimated that 91 events
actually fit the Olympic criteria, with participants from 12
countries.
After 11,000 Arrests and Ongoing Executions, Islamic State
hits Bangladesh Elites.
Gunmen Showed Unusual Respect for Islam.
- From New Trend's Media Monitor.
Late on July 1, six gunmen entered an upscale restaurant at
a walking distance from the American embassy in Dhaka and
took hostages.
Wire services indicate that on July 2, a large military
force stormed the restaurant and killed all six. The gunmen
killed 9 Italians, 7 Japanese, one Indian, and three
Bangladeshi students from American universities. The
Italians and the Japanese were serving prestigious
developmental projects and this attack has apparently dealt
a serious blow to the government's economic plans.
Two of the students were from Emory university in Atlanta
[very Israel oriented] and one from University of
California, Berkeley, evidently a Hindu.
Two police officers were killed when the attack began and 4
were killed when a hostage escaped and they tried to help
him. One of the officers was of high rank.
The Islamic State on its media, has claimed responsibility
for the attack.
Reports indicate that the assailants asked the hostages to
recite from the Qur'an to identify themselves so that no
Muslims would be harmed. Also, the Muslims were given suhoor
meals by the hostage takers to enable the Muslims to fast
properly.
This blatant assault comes after the repression of the
peaceful Islamic movement known as Jamaate Islami by the
Dhaka regime. Senior Islamic leaders, totally non-violent
and defenseless, were subjected to show trials and executed
on charges related to the civil war in East Pakistan 40
years earlier. Ninety year old philosopher of the Jamaate
Islami, Prof. Golam Azam, died in police custody. Among
those executed was the leader of Jamaate Islami Bangladesh
Motiur Rahman Nizami who had won elections and been a
minister after the creation of Bangladesh.
Demonstrations by Islamic students against the executions
were ruthlessly crushed by the police and nearly 100
students, unarmed and defenseless, were killed over two
years.
Finding the Islamic movement totally helpless, the regime
allowed Hindu and atheist blogger to abuse the teachings of
Islam. These bloggers, led by a Hindu American, started
blaspheming the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh.
Elements connected to the American embassy initiated a
movement to legitimize homosexuality which is a capital
crime in Islam [see photo in New Trend archives].
After the crescendo of blasphemy, al-Qaida and the Islamic
State intervened and a number of bloggers were hacked to
death. The attacks then escalated into anti-Hindu actions,
again very selective, evidently because Hindus were involved
in supporting the government's show trials of elderly
Islamic leaders. [The government found it impossible to find
witnesses from 40 years back to support the show trials, so
current Hindus were used.] The homosexuality initiators were
also brutally killed.
In angry response to these bloody hackings, the government
launched a crackdown all over Bangladesh, with more than
11,000 suspects arrested.
And now we have the bloody hostage taking at the restaurant
near the American embassy.
One can only hope that sanity will prevail and anti-Islamic
and pro-India actions by the regime will cease and be
replaced by dialogue, restraint and peaceful means to solve
problems.
SPOTLIGHTS: An Invitation to Think
from Imam Badi
What did we Learn from Ramadan?
I asked this question to some of my brothers and sisters:
"What did you learn and gain from the month of Ramadan?"
And here are some of their answers:
Gaining Taqwa - Allah (SWT) stated in the Qur'an that Taqwa
is the objective of fasting. Taqwa is a human need.
Fasting is a door for worship. Fasting will help you to
worship Allah (SWT) and it will draw you closer to Allah
(SWT).
Learned to maintain a good relationship with the Qur'an by
reciting and observing it daily.
Acquiring patience and a strong will.
Fasting will free you from earthly desires and all forms of
slavery.
Fasting is a shield
Fasting is a purification
Fasting will make you humble
Fasting establishes new good habits and breaks old bad
habits.
Fasting will help you to keep up with the Nafelah and
Sunun.
Learned to be at the masjid more often.
Learned to manage my time better.
Striving for Ihsaan (righteousness and sincerity) and
staying away from Riyaa (showing off).
Recognizing that one can change for the better.
Being more charitable.
Caring for one's health.
Caring for others, the poor and those who are in need.
Little food is enough and sufficient.
Enhancing manners and strengthening good
characteristics.
Standing up for the truth.
Learning discipline.
An opportunity to teach children and the young to worship
Allah (SWT), and the importance of worship..

Three Aspects of Ramadan we Often Forget; and Rejection of
Human Power and False Gods is Required for One to be a

On July 1, Br.Kaukab Siddique gave the juma khutba at masjid
Jamaat al-Muslimeen in Baltimore and led prayers. The masjid
was packed as it was the last juma of Ramadan; however as it
is a small masjid, an outline of the khutba is given here
for distribution on line, inshallah.

and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers!"
As the blessed month of Ramadan ends and we seek
forgiveness and mercy from Allah in the nights of power, we
are sure that Allah can grant us all kinds of blessings
because His treasures have no limits.
Prayers and fasting are the essence of religion, but if
we are still not transformed or are only looking for
personal salvation, we need to be reminded of the Prophet's,
pbuh, understanding of Islam. Without his interpretation of
Islam all the prayers and fasting will only have limited
impact.
For us to be Muslims, we must reject all the power
structures and authorities which are not subservient to
Allah. Surely we know that Christians and Jews too pray and
fast. So, how are we different? Why are we Muslims? There is
no compulsion in religion but read the complete verse. We
are not supposed to support anarchic freedom leaving people
to stumble from one direction to another.
There is no authentic Islam which does not reject human
authority other than that of Allah, be this the authority or
power structure of the race, the nationality, the
government, the male in the family, the people of wealth,
all those who claim that they can decide what is right and
what is wrong. Hence the kalima of Islam begins with LA [NO]
to all "gods" and powers other than Allah. If we are too
weak for this stance, then at least we should know what is
required of us and how far we are from it.
Evil is rampant in our society and we must clearly reject
it and denounce it, be it the exploitation of women or
homosexuality supported by the power of the state or the
imperialistic and Zionist projection of military power and
worldwide cultural aggression.
Part 2
Three aspects of Ramadan connected with the Prophet,
pbuh, which we often forget make our religion only prayer
and fasting and nothing more.
The battle of Badr is not only mentioned in sura Ale
Imran, the entire chapter sura Anfal is devoted to it. It is
the most significant battle in the history of Islam in which
the best Muslims defeated the overwhelming power of the
oppressors.
Before the battle started, the Prophet, pbuh, saw how
insignificant were his forces, materially speaking. He
prayed to Allah for help and then symbolically threw a
handful of sand towards the kuffar, and then the Muslims
attacked: a tiny force ATTACKING a huge enemy. Allah says in
the Qur'an that when the Prophet, pbuh, threw that handful
of dust, it was not he who threw but Allah. From this
symbolism, Allama Iqbal and other scholars have taught that
in completeness of faith, the hand of the believer becomes
the Will of Allah. The oppressors were not only defeated but
almost all their leaders were killed at Badr.
Then we forget that in Ramadan we have the anniversary of
the greatest Islamic woman in the Ummah of Muhammad, pbuh,
Ayesha, r.a., the daughter of Abu Bakr, r.a., and the
beloved wife of the Prophet, pbuh. She was the greatest
transmitter and teacher of Hadith, scholar, jurisprudent,
the one who freed the most slaves, the one who gave away her
wealth keeping hardly anything for herself. She was a poet
and a leader both of men and women.
What is wrong with us, dear Muslims, that we forget Ayesha,
r.a. We are the losers if we forget.
We even forget the Conquest of Makka on Ramadan 18 when
the forces led by Muhammad, pbuh, returned to the city where
he and his Companions had been subjected to horrendous
oppression. Now all his enemies were helpless in front of
him. Owing to the existing norms of warfare at that time, he
could have had them ALL killed. Instead, in a gesture of
forgiveness which has no equal in history, he forgave them
ALL, quoting the words of Joseph, pbuh, to his brothers [all
except a couple].
Dear Muslims, use the facilities Allah has given us to
oppose by peaceful means the evils which have beset the
American people, be it the humiliation of women, the storm
of random sex and rape, the outburst of state supported
homosexuality, the invasion and occupation of helpless
countries, the aerial bombardment of defenseless Muslims,
the control of Africa's wealth and global trade and most
important of all the occupation of Palestine.
In the few days remaining in Ramadan, study the Qur'an with
translation and learn some of the hadith and pray for
Islamic spouses and children who will stand with us for
Islam. Ameen, summa ameen.

Important Advance into Lattakia: Menbig defended
firmly:Assad Regime bombs town for Pilot Revenge.
June 27-July 2:
Islamic forces led by Turkistan Islamic,
al-Nusra front and other groups captured Kinsibba and 13
villages in Lattakia province which is the Alawite
heartland. Assad forces trying to fight back. Two senior
Alawite officers were killed the mujahedeen.
June 27 to July 3:
The SDAF Kurdish forces are still trying
to capture Manbig on the corridor to Turkey. Stiff defense
inspite of strikes by the US air force have stopped the
Kurdish advance though they have taken one outer area of the
town. However July 3, Islamic State fighters advanced
against the Kurds.
American bombing [called "coalition" bombing] killed 2 women
and their 7 children in Manbig.
On July 1,
a helicopter of the Assad air force was shot down
by Jaysh al-Islam in the Jayrud area. The pilot escaped but
was captured and executed by al-Nusra fighters as he was a
veteran of years of attacks on Muslim populations.
The same day another Assadi helicopter was shot down in an
area of Suwayda, south west of Damascus in the desert
controlled by IS. Three of Assad's officers were killed.
On July 2,
Assad's air force bombed the people of Jayrud
causing 43 deatha including 5 children and 2 medical staff.
The people here are Palestinian refugees. Assad's regime
declared that this was revenge for the killing of the
veteran pilot and threatened to bomb more if the people did
not kick out the militants. People demonstrated calling on
militants to leave.
On July 3,
Assad's forces bombed the towns of Huryatan and
Anadin north of Aleppo and inflicted scores of casualties.
Aleppo city is also being bombed and shelled. Darayya near
Damascus is being bombed and shelled again as we go to the
press.
IRAQ
Phony CNN News? Or Disinformation? Islamic State Forces
Wiped Out? Then ISIS sweeps into Bokamal and captures the
military airport. Horrible bombing in central Shia area of
Baghdad.
[From New Trend's media monitor]
CNN announced on June 30 that the US air force had wiped out
a convoy of Islamic State fighters fleeing Fallujah and that
250 of the fighters had been killed, more than a 100 trucks
had been hit . Then the story started changing like this.
[DOES CNN READ ITS OWN NEWS?]
"(CNN) — Airstrikes hit a convoy of more than 500
vehicles leaving Falluja, killing dozens of ISIS militants
trying to flee the city, Iraqi officials said.
The operation started Monday night and is still ongoing
Thursday, according to the nation's defense ministry.
A U.S. official said U.S. planes conducted a precision
strike on a multi-truck convoy leaving a southern suburb of
Falluja. The operation required American aircraft because
there were a lot of civilians in the area, the official
said. U.S. officials declined to comment on the number of
militants killed.
The airstrikes come days after the Iraqi military announced
that its troops had seized Falluja from ISIS."
The regime in Baghdad then added to this "information" that
it had wiped out 755 IS trucks killing hundreds of
"terrorists" fleeing Fallujah. However the very next day CNN
announced that air strikes killed at least 50 and the number
of trucks were fewer. And another 100 trucks were destroyed
while fleeing Ramadi. [Come on CNN do you have any idea of
when Ramadi was captured!]
A big hole in the story was that the IS trucks were trying
to flee from southwest Fallujah. BBC and wire services
[Reuters etc] had reported weeks earlier that south and
southwest of Fallujah was the first to be "liberated" by the
Baghdad forces with the help of the US air force. How could
ISIS be trying to flee from the area which was already under
Shia control.
And Baghdad does tell stories like that of the fisherman who
caught the biggest fish in existence but there is no sign of
where it was stacked away! With 755 trucks wiped out, or
even half of that, ISIS would have been debilitated.
However only two days later ISIS drove out the New Syrian
Army [!], a new mercenary group, which had captured Bukamal
on the Iraq-Syria border. ISIS fighters swept into Bukamal
on trucks and jeeps. They then went on to capture the nearby
military airport.
In the meantime, CNN also posted a video of fleeing ISIS
trucks under US air strikes. It shows about SEVEN trucks,
not 100! Strangely enough none of the other western news
services have mentioned the destruction of a huge ISIS
convoy destoyed by the US air force while trying to flee
Fallujah.
ISIS media did not even mention it.
The horrible response came from ISIS late on June 2 when it
struck the center of Baghdad with a huge car bomb,
destroying the popular Hadi shopping center and setting the
area around it on fire. First reports indicate 115 killed
and 150 injured. Baghdad has announced three days of
mourning.

Ordinary Citizens of Fallujah Facing Shia Torture and
Mistreatment
[Daily Telegraph June 26]" ....the Iraqi security forces
have detained about 20,000 people - mainly young males of
military age - for "screening" in case they include Isil
fighters hiding among fleeing civilians. ...... The army has
been accused of mistreating and torturing those in
detention.
"The treatment was very bad. We had nothing to drink or
eat," said a man who was detained after the recapture of
Saqlawiya, a town about six miles from Fallujah. He told
Amnesty International that "about four or five men would
come into the room and beat people with sticks and metal
pipes".

Chicago: Chicago Police Tackle, Strip Search Fasting Muslim
Woman
[With thanks to Br. Zakhum.]
CHICAGO— A Muslim woman was running to catch a train
in Chicago when five police officers tackled her, ripped off
her hijab and strip searched her.
Itemad "Angel" Almatar said she faced humiliation at the
hands of police before being arrested for no reason. She was
carrying a backpack with food in it to break fast.
Surveillance camera video showed her overtaken by five
Chicago police officers as she climbed the stairs of the
State/Lake station in the Loop. "They threw me to the
stairs, and grabbed my bags. They kicked me, hit me, took
off my hijab," she said. They also had an issue with her
putting food inside her bag.
"They asked me why I put my food inside my bag, why I'm
Muslim, why I'm fasting, why I'm wearing these clothes, why
I cover my body," she said. Almatar said she was terrified.
She thought the people who grabbed her might be thieves,
until they arrested her.
"She was strip searched, videographed, and at the same time
men were allowed to see her naked. This is the ultimate
horror you can do to a Muslim woman," said Imam Malick
Mujahid, a Muslim community leader in Chicago.
Almatar was charged with reckless conduct and resisting
arrest, but on Wednesday a Cook County judge found her not
guilty. Her attorneys said the police officers are guilty of
profiling and violating her rights, perhaps in the name of
vigilance.
"We know a couple things. There's a Constitution, and the
Constitution says you can't just grab people for no reason
whatsoever," said Aaron Goldstein, a supervising attorney
with the Cook County Public Defender's office
In court, prosecutors said police officers first yelled
'Stop!' but the video of the incident shows no one turning
around in response, even though several other commuters were
walking up the stairs with Almatar.
A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department said he
would look into the incident and what, if any, action was
taken internally. Almatar said she plans to file a federal
civil rights lawsuit soon.
Comments:
This is the condition of the Muslims in the west where the
dignity of the Muslimat is not even safe by the so called
protectors of the law. Strip search has no other reason but
to humiliate a person and for the perverted authorities to
practice their perversion.

Houston, Texas: Texas mosque attack: Doctor 'shot and
stabbed' Man stabbed and shot twice while heading to morning
prayers in US city of Houston, witnesses say.
The doctor was walking towards a mosque in Houston when he
was attacked [Madrasah Islamiah via Facebook]
A Muslim doctor in the US state of Texas has been shot and
stabbed while on his way to a mosque for morning prayers,
local reports said. The victim, identified as Arslan
Tajammul, an eye specialist, had parked his car and was
walking towards Madrasah Islamiah in the city of Houston,
when he was approached by three men, according to KTRK.
Without any warning, the doctor was stabbed, before one of
the men reportedly pulled out a gun and shot him twice. The
victim was able to ask for help near the mosque entrance, as
the the attackers made their escape, witnesses told
authorities.
The Houston Police District said the victim was taken by
ambulance to a hospital, where he will remain in the
intensive care unit for 24 hours.
"These anti-Muslim attacks need to stop. Innocent people are
getting hurt," Mufti Mohammed Wasim Khan, a Madrasah
Islamiah official, told Al Jazeera before adding that the
victim was in stable condition.
"This is what they want, Americans attacking fellow
Americans."
Mustafaa Carroll, executive director of the Houston-based
Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Texas, told
Al Jazeera it was too early to know what motivated the
attack.
Police also said the motive for the attack was not
known.
On Saturday, a Muslim man was also attacked near a mosque in
Florida.
RESEARCH
Hasan, r.a., the Great Peacemaker between Muslims. Why is
his Tremendous Effort Neglected by Shias?
by Kaukab Siddique, PhD
"Narrated AbuBakrah: The Apostle of Allah
(peace_be_upon_him) said to al-Hasan ibn Ali. This son of
mine is a Sayyid (chief), and I hope Allah may reconcile two
parties of my community by means of him. Hammad's version
has: And perhaps Allah may reconcile two large parties of
Muslims by means of him. (Sunan of Abu Dawood. Book #40,
Hadith #4645)
Hasan, r.a., was the elder grandson of the Prophet, pbuh.
Muslims love him because the Prophet, pbuh, loved him, He
turned out to be a man of excellent character steeped in
piety and worship.
In the years of conflict between Ali, r.a., and Muawiyya,
r.a., Hasan, r.a., was constant in his opposition to the
war. He was so intense in his opposition to the war that he
came into direct opposition to Ali, r.a.
When Ali, r.a., was murdered, Hasan became Caliph for six
months. A huge pro-Ali army supported him and was ready to
go to war with Muawiyya, r.a. under the command of Hasan,
r.a.
When the army realized that Hasan, r.a., was serious about
stopping the fighting with Musawiyyah, r.a., the generals
went to the extent of physically attacking Hasan, r.a., and
tried to kill him. He was barely saved by his close
supporters and escaped although injured. His propert was
looted by his own troops. There were several attempts by the
Shias to kill him.
Most Shias do not know or are not allowed to know that
Hasan, r.a., was strongly in favor of stopping the war and
finally gave his bayat [oath of allegiance] to Muawiyyah,
r.a., who honored and respected him and gave him a large
stipend every year to help him continue his studies and his
charitable activities. Hasan, r.a., lived comfortably under
the rule of Muawiyyah, r.a., and never opposed him. [1]
Muawiyya, r.a., even gave him five million dirhams to pay
and calm down his own army which had turned against him.
[2]
The shias have tried to paint Muawiyya, r.a., as the devil
and simply ignore the facts about Hasan.
It was not an easy task for Hasan, r.a., to make peace with
an opponent of Ali, r.a., with whose army there had been
physical combat. Even Hussain, r.a., the younger brother of
Hasan opposed his decision for peace but Hasan was
determined that no more Muslim blood should be shed.
Muawiyyah, r.a., wanted the unity of the Muslims too. He
agreed to every condition stipulated by Hasan, r.,. He
promised to rule by Qur'an and Sunnah and the example of the
first three caliphs. He also released large sums of money so
that Hasan, r.a., could pay off his debts, fulfil his
obligations and take care of his daily needs.
Shias are outraged when told that Hasan, did bayat [gave
oath of allegiance] to Muawiyya, r.a., but there are
numerous authentic reference to this oath of allegiance.
Here is one which is his final statement in which he
reprimanded his Iraqi "supporters" :
"Al-Hasab ibnAli gathered together the leading people among
his supporters in the palace of Mada'in. He said 'O people
of Iraq, even if I did not give up on you for other reason,
there were three reasons which sufficed me: your killing my
father, your stabbing my horse, and your looting my
belongings, even the cloak from my shoulder. You swore
allegiance to me vowing to make peace with whomsoever I made
peace with and to fight whomsoever I fight. I HAVE SWORN
ALLEGIANCE TO MUAWIYYAh. So, listen to him and obey' Then he
came down and went into the palace." [3]
