Verse of the Week
"Those who swallow down usury cannot arise except as one
whom Shaitan has prostrated by (his) touch does rise. That
is because they say, trading is only like usury; and Allah
has allowed trading and forbidden usury. To whomsoever then
the admonition has come from his Lord, then he desists, he
shall have what has already passed, and his affair is in the
hands of Allah; and whoever returns (to it) - these are the
inmates of the fire; they shall abide in it.
Allah does not bless usury, and He causes charitable deeds
to prosper, and Allah does not love any ungrateful sinner."
- Holy Qur'an 2:275-276.

Tragic and shameful: As we were going to the "press" came
the shocking news that Lynne Stewart has been sentenced to
TEN YEARS in prison. She defended the Blind Shaikh pro bono
and the Zionist power structure would not forgive her. This
grandmother who is very unwell will be in prison for daring
to oppose laws which have been fabricated in opposition to
America's constitutional values.
For America to put an attorney in prison who has spent her
life in support of the oppressed and the downtrodden means
that the rule of law no longer exists in America, and
certainly not for Muslims.
More in the next issue of New Trend.
Unite Against Zionism: First in a Series of Mini Shooras
July 24, 2010. inshallah Jamaat al-Muslimeen's National
Islamic Shoora will meet to discuss new tactics in the
efforts to unite Muslims against Zionism.
Inshallah, Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz,
DrAAS.info
top African American and
Islamic intellectual will address the mini shoora.
Here is an important effort to break the Jewish-Zionist
stranglehold on America's neck by way of non-violent
resistance.
From Imam Badi Ali [National Shoora Leader] Jamaat
al-Muslimeen, North Carolina
Spotlight #1:Muslims often accept the media hype that that
they are trapped or helpless or tricked and that the
situation can't change. We can change. The world can change
and is changing. It is all in Allah's hand.
Sptlight #2: Torture has become part of the American psyche
owing to Gtmo, Abu Ghraib, Bagram and the strip searching of
Dr. Afia, Imam Jamil and Shaikh Omar and all Muslim
prisoners of conscience. Torture means both the victim and
the victimizer are dehumanized.
Spotlight #3: Face book is an important tool for spreading
the message. However, Muslims should go on face book only to
please Allah. Otherwise it becomes just a game and a waste
of time.
Important note from Br. Kaukab Siddique, ameer of Jamaat
al-Muslimeen.
In memory of the Red Mosque and Jamia Hafsa
A suggestion which could lead to peace in Pakistan.
July 10 was the anniversary of General Musharraf's assault
on the Red Mosque and Jamia Hafsa Women's Seminary. Abdur
Rasheed Ghazi and hundreds of young men and women gave their
lives to defend the places of worship and Qur'an & Hadith
against a corrupt military backed by the US and Israel.
Pakistan is ablaze today to avenge the hundreds of innocent
ba-hijab women who fought along with the martyr Abdur
Rasheed Ghazi and Muslim men. General Musharraf should be
brought to trial with his top generals so that the internal
war in Pakistan may end.
Bringing the generals to justice helped in Chile, Argentina,
Peru and other countries. Try it. They are the ones being
armed and used against the Ummah. The army should not be
used against Islam. It should be the people's army.

Iranian Nuclear Scientist Escapes: Takes Refuge in
Diplomatic Center.
July 13, 2010: According to Iranian TV, Shahram Amiri, an
Iranian nuclear scientist, has escaped from US custody and
taken refuge in the Iranian Interests Section in Washington,
DC.
Iran had claimed earlier that the scientist had been
abducted by Saudi and US intelligence while on the lesser
pilgrimage in Makka. The US claimed he had defected. It
appears that Iran's claim is correct though there may be
twists to the story which we don't know. BBC coverage
concludes that Iran's claims are correct.
Latest: Amiri is back in Iran. A great moral victory for
Iran. He says he was tortured.
British Troops Forced to retreat from Sangin area of Helmand
Province. Heavy Fighting across the land.
According to western sources, 102 elite NATO troops,
including 59 US and 4 Norwegians were killed in Afghanistan
in June.
During the first 14 days of July, 46 NATO troops were
killed. Of these 46, Americans number 26. Mujahideen known
as Taliban are carrying out classic guerrilla warfare. Their
losses are negligible.
July 7, 2010: British troops retreated from Sangin area
after coming under daily raids by the Taliban Islamic
movement. [Confirmed by BBC.]
On June 28, NATO forces killed another 8 civilians in the
Kandahar area "by mistake." [Fox TV.]
Somali Revenge Attack in Uganda after warnings to withdraw
troops from Somalia
July 12, 2010. Following an attack on bars [drinking houses]
in Kampala, Uganda, Somalia's Islamic movement has taken
responsibility. The Somalis, according to BBC, repeatedly
warned Uganda to withdraw its forces from Somalia. The
Ugandan troops, part of the non-Muslim AU force, have been
firing with artillery on markets in Mogadishu killing
several hundred civilians in the last three months. At least
74 Ugandans, including an American, in the bars were killed
in the Somali attacks. [The Somalis have now warned Burundi
and Ethiopia of similar attacks owing to their troops being
in the AU and other US backed occupation forces in Somalia.]

Most of Somalia is at peace because the country is largely

Curfew Imposed on Kashmir towns after days of Protest
Rallies
July 13, 2010: India imposed curfew on Srinagar and other
towns in occupied Kashmir. The military crackdown followed
more than 10 days of peaceful protests by tens of thousands
of unarmed Muslims. Indian police brutalized the protestors
but could not crush them. Hence the curfew.
India has 700,000 troops in Muslim Kashmir, the largest
occupation force in the world.
Lahore, July 12: The Kashmir issue should be taken as the
core issue at the Secretary level talks between Pakistan and
India because dialogue with New Delhi can't bear fruit with
the Kashmir issue pushed to the back burner, the Jamaat e
Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, said on Monday.
He was addressing National Kashmir seminar organised by the
JI Islamabad. The Azad Kashmir President, Raja Zulqarnain,
JI Azad Kashmir chief, Abdur rashid Turabi, and other JI
leaders also addressed.
Syed Munawar Hasan said the Kashmiris were fighting
Pakistan's war and Pakistan would also have to fight for the
safety of its life line.
He said Pervez Musharraf was the first Pakistan ruler to
deviate from Pakistan's principled stance on Kashmir and to
give concessions to India. He said there had been numerous
rounds of talks between the two countries but India was
sticking to its stance of Kashmir being its integral part.

Pakistan: Air Force Bombs Orakzai mountains killing Scores
of Civilians
Momand attack wipes out pro-army tribals.
July 8-15: The Pakistani air force has been bombing Islamic
villages in the Orakzai mountains. Scores of people have
been killed, 22 in one day alone. The Pakistani military
calls them "suspected Taliban."
July 15: A martyrdom operator hit a military unit in
Mingora, the capital of Swat. The military says civilians
were killed. However journalists are not allowed to bring
the news.
July 9: After the new wave of Pakistani air attacks on
Islamic villages began, a martyrdom operator hit a tribal
gathering point the Pakistani regime had set up in the
Momand agency to kill the Pak Taliban. The huge explosion
destroyed the Pakistani post and surrounding businesses and
vehicles. By last reports, the death toll had reached 102.
Some innocent people trying to sell goods to the officials
were among the dead.
Helping Iran:
June 29: A US air force drone hit an Islamic village near
Wana. Eight people were killed including one
"foreigner,"
an Egyptian named Hamza al-Jufi. He was the local leader of
Jundullah and was involved in helping the poverty ridden
people of the area. Jundullah is an Islamic movement
fighting Iran for the rights of the Sunni majority
population in Iranian Baluchistan. Recently Iran hanged the
top leader of Jundullah after a summary trial. Iran claims
that its opponents are working for the US.
France Bans Islamic Covering by Women: Futile Attempt to
stop the Spread of Islam
July 13, 2010: The French Parliament voted in favor of a ban
on Islamic outer covering, burqa with niqab or veil. France
is crumbling from within and sees the "veil" as a symbol of
the rejection of nudist French culture. With a large Muslim
population, France senses defeat and wants to stop the
Islamic wave by enacting repressive laws.
The French right wing sees the veil as a symbol of terrorism
["Osama's people"] while the left wing claims that the veil
symbolizes the subjugation of women. Both the forces of kufr
united against the Muslim woman's right to cover
herself.
[Muslim women who do not cover themselves should not be
blamed. They are stil our sisters and can secretly work for
Islam. Sunnah is a learning process and not to be imposed on
women.--Editor]

The Thinking Behind Bush's War Policy is Still Relevant
Excerpt from a lecture by
Dr. Thomas Barnett, former Senior Strategist & Professor in
the Warfare Analysis & Research Department at the Center for
Naval Warfare Studies at the US Naval War College, Rhode
Island
"Transnational terrorism is like politics - it is inherently
local so you have a choice of dealing with terrorism
vectoring into this country. You can try to firewall
yourselves off - don't think it will work - think you'll
damage our society in the process. You can run around and
try to kill these guys as quickly as possible, but as we've
seen with Israel and the Westbank and Gaza , you tend to
create more than you can kill in that process. Or third you
can try to decide what their strategic goals are and you can
try to get there first. There is no secret about Osama
Bin Laden's goals for the Middle East . He wants to drive
the west out of the Middle East so he can hijack the Middle
East out of the world. We've seen it before. It's the same
basic deal that Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks pulled
off. An exclusionary ruleset for a big chunk of humanity.
Lenin eventually grabbed one-third of humanity thanks to Mao
and others. We're just seeing a modern variant of it. And
he's fairly explicit with it. Osama says to the Europeans,
you leave the middle east, I'll stop killing you. You've
got 90 days. What the Bush Administration is really trying
to do - and they are quite explicit about it - is to create
a Big Bang in the middle east. They hope to change serious
behavior - by extension to create a better situation in
Lebanon , by extension better situation with Palestine by
extension - relief for Israel . They hope to create a
process of change in Iran . We hope to alleviate some of
the stresses for Saudi Arabia so we move some of our troops
out. They're still hoping for positive evolutions there -
so a lot of expectations. Of course, our friend Kim Jong
Il he can always throw a hex on this party anytime he wants
- pull us right over to northeast Asia in a heartbeat.
That's the fear. But what is so thrilling and dangerous
about what we just are tried to pull off and are still
trying to pull off - and No, I don't think you can judge it
completely in 12 months - I think that is ridiculous.
This Big Bang is basically the pursuit of a system
perturbation. What Osama Bin Laden tried to achieve on
9-11 was to throw our rulesets in such tremendous flux with
that attack that we would retreat militarily, economically,
and politically from the Middle East . He wants to
disconnect the world from the Middle East . So if we want
to deny that entity's strategic goal, we have to connect the
Middle East faster than he can disconnect it - and that's
very difficult. A way of thinking about the scenarios in
the Middle East - What happens with Iraq ? Did we get the
makeover or does it become our Westbank. The effect on the
rest of the region - Does it become a chosen trauma for
Muslims worldwide or do you get the hoped for Big Bang.
Worst case, Westbank - chosen trauma, Blackhawk Down, the
series - not just a bad movie - a reality series we watch
every week to numbing and/or enraging effect. Why? Because
we have the reserve component over there big time now. The
Abrams doctrine when we put it together back in the early
1970's said that you can't go to war unless you use the
reserve component. We've gotten around that rule. We can
go to war whenever we want without using the reserve
component. What we can't do is wage the peace without them
and we are going to discover that increasingly as this
occupation drags on. The danger here is that this becomes a
global magnet. Next worst case situation - the Arab
Yugoslavia - sequential instabilities around the dial. That
is probably the path you take if you accept the notion that
you are going to have 3 Iraq 's at the end of this. The
Kurds, the Sunni's and the Shites. The better route I
think, what I call the New Berlin Wall Muslims are still
angry about our situation and our presence, we succeed
somewhat in Iraq, we focus on the next problem set. Israel
and the Palestinian Authority. We sit on that security fence
probably for two or three decades. You say, it can't be
done. I say we did it in Berlin . We're still doing it in
Korea . Europeans have done it for decades in Cypress . We
know how to sit on walls. Israel will be just fine without
the Westbank. The Westbank is going to need a lot of aid.
But I'll ask you which is cheaper over the long run?
Best case, makeover, you get the Big Bang. Call that
scenario, Persian Gulfed. I would argue, the
counter-revolution is waiting for a Chernobyl like spark in
Iran . It won't take a whole heck of a lot. I think we are
within several years of that happening. I don't expect the
Mullahs to rule that country the same way they do now by
2010. And I think Saudi Arabia sees the handwriting the
wall and will move progressively in that direction. Why?
Because the terrorists are coming back home and blowing up
things in Saudi Arabia now. ......................" [End of
quote.]
Netanyahu Hears No Discouraging Words From Obama
Dana Milbank -- The Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/0706/AR2010070604005.html
A blue-and-white Israeli flag hung from Blair House. Across
Pennsylvania Avenue, the Stars and Stripes was in its usual
place atop the White House. But to capture the real
significance of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's visit
with President Obama, White House officials might have
instead flown the white flag of surrender. Four months ago,
the Obama administration made a politically perilous
decision to condemn Israel over a controversial new
settlement. The Israel lobby reared up, Netanyahu denounced
the administration's actions, Republican leaders sided with
Netanyahu, and Democrats ran for cover.
Understanding Pakistan
Debacle of Secularism: 5 to 15% of Pakistanis rule and play
in western hands
by Kaukab Siddique, Ph.D
Associate Professor of English and Mass Communication
Pakistani secularism grew over a period of 60 years in
recognizable enclaves all over the country. The Pakistani
middle class is the vanguard of national secularism. These
are people who are nominally Muslims and in fact would be
outraged if their loyalty to Islam were challenged. They
consider Islam part of their cultural heritage which is
related to symbolic activities at funerals, births, Eid
celebrations and random charitable activities.
The defining feature of Pakistani secularism is that
secularists place religion at the service of their needs and
wishes and thus evade the entire issue of obedience to the
Will of Allah and and the dominance of Islamic guidance in
matters national, economic and international. Here are the
major categories of secularists in Pakistan:
-
Upper echelons of the Pakistani military, from majors,
colonels and Generals to the Chiefs of Staff and
commanders-in-chief.
-
The adult children of the military elite and their
friends and relatives.
-
Feudal lords, such as the Bhutto family, the Bugti
family, and their adult children and relatives
-
Big landlords and major industrialists and their adult
children and relatives. Many of these appear to be
religious: their conservatism is often taken for Islam by
their tenants.
-
The adult children, relatives and friends in these
categories are the most important link between Pakistan and
the U.S., U.K., and western Europe. They are focused on
physically moving to the U.S. In the interim, while they
await opportunities abroad, they surround themselves with or
create around themselves replicas of Euro-American social
environments.
-
The class loyalties and racist attitudes of these groups
are reinforced by their contacts with Euro-Americans. They
treat poor and black people with contempt.
-
Communists/socialists, "progressives," "liberals." Though
very small in numbers, these elements are often effective
against Islam because they are critical of western
capitalism but equate Islam with feudalism
After 9.11 these groups were most susceptible to
American-Israeli foreign policy initiatives. America-Israel
saw Islam as the adversary and decided to destroy the havens
of "terrorism" which are rooted in Islam. The Bush
administration expressed the perception of the entire
American power structure that unless Islam is defanged and
declawed in its heartlands, opposition to U.S.-Israeli
global domination would be impossible to overcome .
Through a steady process of demonization, the U.S. has
arrived at this view of the Muslim world [Pakistan and
Afghanistan in particular]:
-
Those who practice Islam on a daily basis are
"fundamentalists" and will become opponents of America
sooner or later.
-
Those who condemn the American way of life and agitate and
protest against it are "extremists" and will soon become a
problem for the U.S.
-
Those who pick up weapons and fight American and
pro-American forces are "terrorists" and should be
killed.
-
The medressas and mosques are the hotbeds of
'fundamentalism," "extremism," and "terrorism."
-
The hijab or complete covering of the Muslim woman is the
greatest obstacle to the domination of American-Israeli
culture globally.
The secularist-Pakistani view of Islam is almost EXACTLY the
same as that of the American power structure. Hence it was
natural for Pakistani secularists to side with America
against their own people especially at a time when Islam is
resurgent and the "mulla" reminds the secularists that they
are violating the teachings of Islam while claiming to be
Muslims.
Collaborator Watch: Re: ISNA Convention near Chicago
ICNA's Zahid Bukhari Silent about State Department
Connection, is Honored by ISNA
New Trend Research.
On June 3, 2010 New Trend published Dr. Zahid Bukhari's
biodata in which he proudly listed his international travels
under the aegis of the US State Department, US embassies and
various anti-Islam regimes.
We asked Bukhari to respond. New Trend is that rare
publication which gives right of reply.
Bukhari did not respond, hoping like the proverbial ostrich,
that New Trend will go away.
Then we received tax papers signed by Bukhari which show
that that he set up an organization in Frederick, Maryland.
The papers are signed by Bukhari as "Director." The papers
show that he gave $5000 to himself and $17,000 to Prof.
Sulayman Nyang. We neglected to mention that the papers show
that he gave $10,000 to Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, a close associate
of his for many years who has now been given a prominent
position in an important institution in Pakistan. Why?
ISNA, in its July 4th Convention, had Dr. Bukhari as an
honored guest speaker. ISNA has been closely associated with
the US government, including the FBI and the Pentagon for
many years. Siraj Wahhaj, long time inner circle man of
ISNA, who helped put Shaikh Omar Abdel Rahman in prison, was
especially honored by ISNA.
Why was Zahid Bukhari speaking at ISNA? Looks like it was a
consolation prize for Bukhari for the exposure to which he
was subjected by New Trend.
In turn, the ISNA Convention was "honored" by the Obama
White House. ISNA's report proudly notes:
"Representatives from the federal government included Mr.
Rashad Hussain from the White House, Mr. Mazen Basrawi from
the Department of Justice, Mr. George Selim from the
Department of Homeland Security, and representatives from
USAID. "
The White House rep, probably a Shi'ite of Indian origin,
spoke to assembled ISNA members and railed against
terrorism. He claimed that the terrorists are killing
Muslims. It was an interesting way of claiming that the US
is not killing Muslims, it is the terrorists!
Not surprisingly, the Zionist media gave very supportive
coverage to the ISNA convention. The "government Muslims"
and the innocent ones were all there, feeding off each
other. Islam in America, ISNA style, is the
Clinton-Bush-Obama "islam" or more clearly the White
House-FBI-Pentagon "islam."

Editor's note: Sis. Bilqis spent her life in serving Allah.
She was not treated well by her first husband from overseas
who was "religious.". Instead of becoming embittered, she
became an active Muslim and published my book LIBERATION of
WOMEN THRU ISLAM to help Muslim women know their rights. She
distributed my other books too. For a while she was in
conflict with the local mosque owing to a wrong-headed imam,
but by the time she passed, she had the keys of the mosque
and could enter at any time. It was a great victory. May
Allah bless her and give her al-jannah.

Entrapping Islam - Free Tarek Mehanna and all prisoners of
the War on Islam .
Br. Kwame [New York]
Letter: CAIR's Boring and Pointless Presentation on
Islam
I attended the CAIR presentation entitled, "Inside Islam:
What a Billion Muslims Really Think"- a documentary film
based on the Gallup Poll of Worldwide Muslim public opinion-
Executive Producers ALEX KRONEMER AND MICHEAL WOLFE, on June
5, 2010, at the University of Pennsylvania's International
House.
I interviewed several attendees to the 'screening'. No one
had good reviews: comments ranged from "I didn't get the
point" to "It was boring", etc. Then CAIR has the nerve to
send out a congratulatory, announcement to them selves (I'll
forward it to you under seperate cover). I was not given
the opportunity to ask why there were NO representations of
Africans in the film and why there were several muslim
'scholars' speaking about "our country" and other assinine
comments. There were other persons making statements and
you didn't know if they were muslim or not..
Oh Allah, help us!

CAIR's announcement quotes King Hussain of Jordan, died
1999, to define Islam. The King was uncovered before he died

Ismaili Convert to Islam Describes the Impact of the Qur'an.
She opened the door to many more Conversions.
by Sis. Shanin [A British Muslimah]
I use to be a very involved Ismaili and would get angry if
anyone said anything bad about Aga khan, but at the same
time was very spiritual. It is like he has hypnotized
everyone in his community. In our language it is called
'Nazar-Bandhi'.
However, in about 1992, an Ismaili friend of mine, one of
the converts
to Islam, gave me Al-Quran and explained a few things.
After reading the Quran it was like seeing the true 'Light'
of Allah-Creator-GOD, and I realized that without HIM there
is no religion and no spirituality.
There was no doubt in my mind that we have been taken for a
ride by the Aga khan, who hid the 'Message' of Allah from
us.
Soon after that I accepted Islam and saw the power of direct
communication with my Creator-GOD, and the power of
Namaz/Salat is phenomenal.
Every time I prayed and made 'Sujood' to Allah, it gave me
some kind of 'Raahat'-
patience and understanding of religion and whole of
humanity.
After studying Islam through the Holy Qur'an and Hadiths of
Messenger
Muhammad (salAllahu alaihi wassalam), everything started to
reveal automatically by the Holy Spirit.
At the same time I brought the Bible and studied it well as
Allah says: You
are all one community, and has mentioned the people of the
Book.
My 'Train' of study was going at full speed as I was
absolutely excited by so much truth and logic that was
hidden from me.
Soon after that I started to write Islamic articles and
preaching Islam, with the full etiquette of Prophet s.a.s.,
and of course with the female Holy Uniform of Hijab (not
Niqab) and either long dress or long Skirt (combination of
East and West) but no pants and trousers.
Trousers are the 'Man's' clothing, which many Sisters do not
realize .
At first I was reluctant to walk the Main Road with Hijab
out of fear of what my family or community members will
think.
But that fear was removed when I read the verse in the
Quran: "Don't fear
people but fear ME". This is the beauty of Quran- Allah's
Word that has
answers to every question, every grief, every problem and
every bothersome
thing of this world and the Hereafter.
HE becomes our personal Physician, a Counselor, a lawyer, a
Judge etc.
If I am not mistaken in my second year of conversion I did
the TV show
on Ramadaan written and directed by me, where for the first
time on TV
screen people saw the picture of Ka'ba (that is my heart),
the Quran, heard
the Adhan/Azan, and Qur'an recitation by the Imam.
That was the big bang for every one including Ismailis.
My topics includes, Islam, human rights, building bridges
among all the communities including Jews, advice to youths
in a form of counseling and the whole of way of life.

THE FACTS ABOUT ABU HURAIRA, r.a., beloved STUDENT OF
MUHAMMAD, pbuh
[Ed. note: r.a. = radi Allah unh =Allah be pleased with
him.]
[pbuh = peace be on him. ]
There can be no doubt that Muhammad Mustafa, the final
messenger of Allah, pbuh, loved Abu Huraira, r.a. and in
turn Abu Huraira, r.a., loved Muhammad, pbuh, more than
anyone or anything in the world.
-
Abu Huraira, r.a., along with 70 others from the Banu Dos
tribe, embraced Islam and did Hijrah to join forces with
Muhammad, pbuh.
-
Abu Huraira, r.a., left everything in the world to embrace
the Prophet, pbuh. He took his mother and his slave with him
on the journey to Madinah leaving everything else behind.
When he reached Madinah, he found that the Prophet, pbuh,
was in Khaibar, fighting a Jewish tribe.
-
Abu Huraira, r.a., joined the Prophet, pbuh, in the final
days of the battle at Khaibar, in the 7th year of the
Hijrah. His first act on meeting the Prophet, pbuh, was TO
FREE HIS SLAVE. Islam teaches the freeing the slaves and Abu
Huraira, r.a., started his life with the Prophet, pbuh, by
freeing his slave.
-
The Prophet, pbuh, took Abu Huraira, r.a., with him on a
series of Jihad expeditions immediately after the battle of
Khaibar. Some eyewitness narrations of these expeditions by
Abu Huraira, r.a., are available in Hadith and in early
history books. The purpose was to ward off attacks by Jewish
and other tribes which were moving to attack the Muslims.
For instance there is a narration by Abu Huraira about the
expedition of Wadi al-Qurra in Tabari's TARIKH, vol. 3. A
very severe expedition was that of Zaat ar-raqa'a. Some
details in Bukhari's Sahih indicate that there was only one
camel for six mujahideen. They rode by turns and the rough
terrain tore up the the feet of the Sahaba. Abu Huraira,
r.a., prayed Salatul Khauf with the Prophet, pbuh, on this
expedition.
[Bukhari's Sahih, vol. 2]
-
Abu Huraira, r.a., then took part in major Islamic moves by
the Prophet's, pbuh, army, including the CONQUEST of MAKKA,
8 Hijri, BATTLE of HUNAIN,, and in the expedition of TABOOK,
9 Hijri. Tabook was very difficult and required a journey of
350 miles in severe summer weather which challenged the
Romans for 20 days and foiled their attack plans.
[See Bukhari's Sahih, vol. 2, for Abu Huraira's
participation.]
-
After these major moves, the Prophet, pbuh, also sent out
Abu Huraira, r.a., in smaller raids to stop various threats.
On one such occasion, the Prophet, pbuh, said to Abu
Huraira, r.a.: "I put you under Allah's Trust and safeguard
and He is the one whose Trust is never wasted."
[ Sunan of Ibn Maja, vol.2]
-
During the Caliphate of Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Usman [Allah be
pleased with all three], Abu Huraira, r.a., continued to
participate in Jihad. One of the HISTORY CHANGING battles in
Islamic history was the BATTLE OF YARMOUK which brought down
the power of the Roman empire. The historian Ibn Asakir in
his Tarikh Damishq writes that the Banu Azd, with its sub
group of the Banu Dos, with Abu Huraira, r.a., in its core,
was on the RIGHT WING of the Islamic army. The huge Roman
army attacked and the outnumbered Muslims would have been
wiped out but for the leadership of great companions of the
Prophet, pbuh, such as Abu Huraira. Ibn Asakir quotes Abu
Huraira, r.a., as he rallied the mujahideen. Abu Huraira
said:
"O valiant believers! The hoories of Paradise are awaiting
you. Prepare yourself to meet them. Prepare to gain the
approach to Allah and to be accepted by Allah. At this time,
no place is dearer to Allah than the one where you are
standing."
The ferocious Roman onslaught was beaten back. At that
point, another 20,000 Romans attacked the small group led by
Abu Huraira, r.a. Khalid ibn al-Waleed, r.a., the overall
commander of the Islamic army noted the severe pressure on
the right wing of his forces. He launched an all out attack
on the Romans and routed them. Yarmouk changed the history
of the Middle East for ever.
Other historians, Ibn Athir and Ibn Kathir, have noted the
participation of Abu Huraira in Jihad as far away as Jilan
and Jurjan during the Caliphate of 'Usman, r.a.
This beloved companion of the Prophet, pbuh, is under attack
by the sectarians and the Pervezis.
WHY DO THESE PEOPLE HATE ABU HURAIRA, r.a.?
-
For the sectarians there seems to be an element of jealousy
that Abu Huraira, r.a., came into the Islamic struggle in
its final years and equalled, if not surpassed , most
companions of the Prophet, pbuh, in many ways, and in
particular in the narration of the Prophet's Hadith.
-
Abu Huraira, r.a., remained neutral in the conflict between
hazrat Ali and Ameer Muawiya as well as in the confrontation
between hazrat Ali and 'Ayesha Siddiqa, r.a. Like
Hasan,r.a., the elder son of Ali, r.a., Abu Huraira opposed
the inter-Muslim conflicts.
-
The sectarians believe that hazrat Ali spoke against Abu
Huraira, r.a. There is no such evidence. There are a couple
of statements attributed to Ali, r.a., against Abu Huraira,
but these are fabrications produced much after both Ali and
Abu Huraira had passed away.
-
In the sectarian attack just distributed by ..., the person
named ... claims that Abu Huraira, r.a., was "hired" by
Muawiyya. This is a figment of ...'s imagination. Most
modern readers would not know that during the rule of Ameer
Muawiyya there was PEACE AND UNITY in the Muslim realm. Imam
Hasan had made peace with Ameer Muawiyya and a spirit of
cooperation existed among all segments of society. There was
no question of anyone "hiring" Abu Huraira, r.a.
WHY ARE THE ANTI-HADITH PEOPLE AGAINST ABU HURAIRA, r.a.?
-
For G.A. Pervez and other anti-Hadith self-proclaimed
scholars, Abu Huraira, r.a., was a problem because he
narrated more Hadith of the Prophet, pbuh., than any other
sahabi.
-
If Abu Huraira, r.a., could be discredited then a big chunk
of Hadith could be discredited.
-
The anti-Hadith people are basically dishonest. Although
they oppose Hadith and claim that they want the "Qur'an
alone," they found some Hadith narrations in which 'Ayesha,
r.a., and Umar, r.a., looked critically at a few of Abu
Huraira's narrations. These couple of instances of criticism
were used by the Pervezis to create the impression that ALL
of Abu Huraira's narrations should be suspected.
-
The anti-Hadith people then went on to fabricate some
stories accusing Abu Huraira's (r.a.) of dishonesty!

What did the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) do?
By Asma bint Shameem
Indeed, one night the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam)
was granted the Night Journey of al-Israa' wal Mi'raaj, when
he was first transported from Masjid al-Haraam to Masjid
al-Aqsa and then onwards, he ascended to the Heavens and
Allaah spoke to him as He willed, and enjoined the five
daily prayers upon him.
This is definitely part of our Aqeedah. It says so in the
Qur'aan [al-Isra':1] and there is no denying that fact.
However, the big question to ask is.......
What did the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) do when
the same day arrived the next year? Or the year after that?
Or the year after that?
Did he EVER celebrate the night of al-Israa' wal Mi'raaj, or
fast the next day???
And what did he instruct the Sahaabah to do about his Night
Journey?
Did he tell them to celebrate that night as a 'special
night' for worshipping Allaah?
Did he tell them to specifically fast the next day because
it was 'the day after the Journey'?
And what were the actions of the Sahaabah themselves?
Did THEY do any of the above??
The answer to all of the above is a big resounding NO!
Surely the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) did not
omit or forget anything in the deen! Surely he did not hide
anything from mankind!
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) said, "There is
nothing that brings you closer to Jannah except that I have
informed you about it and there is nothing that brings you
closer to the fire of Hell except that I have warned you
against it." (at-Tabaraani--Saheeh)
Then why do we not have ANY Saheeh reports of the Prophet
(Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) or the Sahaabah worshipping
Allaah especially on this night and fasting the next
day?
ANSWER: BECAUSE THAT WAS NOT THE PRACTICE OF RASUL ALLAAH
(Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) OR HIS SAHAABAH!
If celebrating it was something that is prescribed in Islam,
the Messenger (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) would certainly
have told his ummah about it, either in word or in deed. If
any such thing had happened, it would have been well known,
and his companions would have transmitted the information to
us. They narrated from the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi
Wassallam) everything that we need to know, and they did not
neglect any aspect of the religion, rather they were the
first ones to do anything good. If celebrating this night
had been prescribed in Islam, they would have been the first
people to do so.
And if it wasn't the practice of our Beloved Prophet (Sal
Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) or his Sahaabah, then, why, O
Muslim, do YOU insist on doing it???
Isn't the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) the best
example to be followed?
"In the Messenger of Allah you have a fine example for he
who hopes for Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah
abundantly." (Surah al-Ahzaab: 21)
But everyone does so!!
Sure, I know, you have seen your fathers and grandfathers
doing so. But, let me remind you, O Muslim, that it is NOT
our forefathers that we are supposed to follow. Rather, our
worship should be based on proofs from the Quraan and
authentic Sunnah, and NOT culture or tradition.
"When it is said to them: 'Follow what Allah has sent down,'
they reply: 'We will follow that which we found our fathers
upon,' even though their fathers did not understand anything
nor were they guided." (Surah al-Baqarah: 170)
Is good intention enough??
I know beyond doubt, that in celebrating this night, your
intention is good. But dear brother/sister, in order for our
worship to be accepted, it also has to be prescribed in the
Qur'aan and Sunnah. If it is not so, it will be
rejected.
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "Whoever
introduces anything into this matter of ours that is not
part of it will have it rejected." (Bukhaari, Muslim)
Exact date unknown???
Also, do you know that even though the incidence of
al-Israa' wal Mi'raaj is an undeniable fact in history, yet
the exact date or even the exact month in which this took
place is not certain?
Shaykh 'Abd al-'Azeez ibn Baaz said:
"With regard to this night on which the Isra' and Mi'raaj
took place, there is nothing in the saheeh ahaadeeth to
indicate that it is in Rajab or in any other month.
Everything that has been narrated concerning a specific date
for these events cannot be proven to have come from the
Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaihi Wassallam) according to the
scholars of hadeeth...." (Islam-qa)
But, what's the harm in it???
Now, some of you will say, "What's the harm in it? I am just
worshipping Allah!"
But, the answer to that, O noble reader, is.....
"And whosoever opposes the Messenger (Muhammad Sal Allaahu
Alaihi Wassallam) after the right path has been shown
clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' way,
We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in
Hell - what an evil destination!" [Surah an-Nisaa:115]
Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen says: "Fasting on the twenty-seventh
of Rajab and spending that night in prayer is a bid'ah
(innovation), and every bid'ah is a going astray." (Majmoo'
Fataawa , 20/440)
So, remember, my dear brothers and sisters in Islaam, DO NOT
single out the 27th for your worship because it was NOT the
practice of the Prophet OR his Sahaabah. If however, you
pray every single night and it is part of your routine to
stay up for worship, then there is no harm. Similarly, if
you are in the habit of fasting Mondays and Thursdays, or
during Ayyaam Beed (the 13th, 14th, and 15th of every
Islaamic month), and the 27th of Rajab falls on one of those
days, then it is OK to do so. The problem arises when one
thinks that this night is special and singles out this night
or day for worship, thinking they are getting extra reward
for their worship. But this is contrary to the Sunnah.
Does "Mosque" Mean Mosquito?
A vlauable response by Adil ibn Manzoor Khan
In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the
All-Compassionate
"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"
Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness.
We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls
and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never
be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one
can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah,
and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and
Messenger.
Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala
Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu
Its been observed that most of us write "MOSQUE" for
"Masjid" and even calling it as Mosque in daily routine,
what elders and teachers say that the word "MOSQUE" means
the house of mosquitoes not Masjid. So better be careful
next time instead of writing mosque, u can write MASJID it
doesn't matter. Most we have seen the spelling of MAKKAH as
MECCA. the word MECCA means "Sharab Khaana/(whisky house).
So let all of us careful of writing MECCA. Many people,
whose names start with MUHAMMAD, write in a short form as
"Mohd". This "Mohd" means "A dog which has a big mouth".
Guys please forward this message to Muslim brothers &
Sisters as possible.
Here are some specifics vis-a-vis the above claims:
1. Quote: <<< "Its been observed that most of us write
"MOSQUE" for "Masjid" and even calling it as Mosque in daily
routine, what elders and teachers say that the word "MOSQUE"
means the house of mosquitoes not Masjid, - unquote. >>>
The word Mosque from the French means mosquee - from old
French mousquaie, from old Italian moschea or moscheta, from
old Spanish mezquita, from Arabic masjid, has nothing
whatsoever to do with the origin of Mosquito (Spanish and
Portuguese diminutive of mosca, and Latin musca, meaning fly
- as in the insect. A more interesting derivative of the
same root is 'musket', the weapons from which ammo flies
out! In fact the 'shot' emanating from the musket shares
more characteristics with the insect: it flies, buzzes, and
stings!). Incidentally, Mosquito is also the name of an
American Indian tribe.

Etymology of the English word 'mosque'
Question: There is a book written by a Muslim revert, Yahiya
Emerick entitled "The Complete Idiot's Guide to
Understanding Islam." The author discusses within it many
things, including the etymology of the word "mosque." He
wrote that this word is derived from the Spanish word for
"mosquito". He claimed that the word was first used during
the Christian invasion of Muslim Spain in the 15th century
when the forces of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella boasted
they would swat out Muslim prayer houses like so many
mosquitoes. Is this true?
Answer:
This etymology is incorrect.
The Spanish word for "mosquito" is mosquito and literally
means "little fly". This is a case where the English
language borrowed the word directly from the Spanish.
The word for "fly" in Spanish is mosca, which is derived
from the Latin musca. The diminutive suffix "-ito" is
attached to it to form the word mosquito or "little
fly".
The Spanish term for "mosque" is mezquita, derived from the
old Spanish mesquita. This word was most certainly derived
from the Arabic word masjid, which many Arabs then and now
pronounce as masgid.
In Spain during the era of Muslim rule - and this was before
the time of King Ferdinand - Spanish speakers were using the
word mosquito for the insect and the word mesquita for the
Muslim place of worship. The two words are not related to
one another in any way.
The word "mosque" was introduced into the English language
in the late 14th or early 15th century from the French. It
comes from the French word mosque, from the old French word
mousquaie. The French, in turn, derived the word from the
Italian word moschea from moscheta. The Italians got it
either directly from the Arabic word masjid or from the old
Spanish mesquita. - Unquote.

Guantanamo Inmate Khadr Refuses Plea Deal. Says Would Give
US Government Excuse for Torture
GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba - A young Canadian, the last Westerner
held at Guantanamo Bay, said he would not defend himself
after refusing a US plea deal, insisting his military trial
was a sham.
"I will not take any of the offers because it'll give the US
government an excuse for torturing me and abusing me when I
was a child," Omar Khadr, 23, told a military tribunal at
the remote jail in Cuba.
He and his Canadian lawyer confirmed he had refused a plea
deal under which he would only have to serve five years of a
30-year sentence in Guantanamo if he admitted war crimes
charges, which normally carry a life term.
Lawyer Dennis Edney said under the deal another part of the
term would have been spent in Canada, but his client refused
to plead guilty.
"Mr Khadr could not admit to something he didn't do. He
didn't kill anybody," Edney said.
US forces in Afghanistan took Khadr prisoner when he was
just 15 years old in July 2002. He has now been in
Guantanamo Bay for eight years.
The US government alleges that Khadr killed a US soldier
with a grenade in 2002 after rising from the rubble of an
Al-Qaeda compound, the lone survivor of a four-hour US
bombardment.
Khadr said he no longer intended to participate in the
proceedings after firing his American defense team last week
for the third time and complaining of the "unfairness and
injustice" of the military commission.
"I will not willingly let the US government use me to
fulfill its goal. I have been used too many times when I was
a child, and that's why I'm here taking blame and paying for
things I didn't have a choice in doing but was told to do by
elders," Khadr said.
"It's going to be the same thing with lawyers or without
lawyers. It's going to be life sentence," he said.
When presiding judge Army Colonel Patrick Parrish told Khadr
he had to be present in court to represent himself without
his lawyers, the young man replied: "I might be present, but
I won't be participating."
But Parrish ordered the American military defense lawyer,
Lieutenant Colonel Jon Jackson, to stay on, against Khadr's
wishes. Parrish also did not grant Khadr permission to
represent himself.
Under the rules of the military tribunals at Guantanamo,
Khadr's Canadian lawyers cannot represent him without US
attorneys.
Edney decried a system that would require his client's
admission of guilt in order to obtain leniency. "It's a
tragedy, this young man who's been abandoned and has lost
hope," he said.
A new hearing will now be held on August 9, and Khadr's
trial is due to start at the military base on August 10.
Khadr is now the only Western citizen still held at
Guantanamo, as the Obama administration seeks to close down
the notorious jail -- a symbol of the excesses in the "war
on terror" conducted by former president George W. Bush.
Other detainees from countries including Britain, France and
Australia have been repatriated, but Ottawa has steadfastly
refused to seek the return of Khadr, who was born in Toronto
in 1986.
On Monday the Canadian government meanwhile said it would
appeal a federal court order which is effectively pressuring
it to seek the Khadr's repatriation.
"Omar Khadr faces very serious charges, including murder,"
Justice Minister Rob Nicholson noted in announcing the
appeal to the court's finding that Ottawa failed to protect
Khadr's rights as it had been ordered to do by the Supreme
Court, and must remedy the situation.
Khadr, whose father was a close friend of Al-Qaeda chief
Osama bin Laden, was seriously wounded in the battle that
preceded his capture in July 2002, losing sight in one
eye.
His case has attracted concern from UNICEF and United
Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who have argued he
should be treated as a child soldier because he was under 16
when he was captured.
Attorney General Eric Holder, who said 180 inmates remain in
Guantanamo, pleaded Sunday for US lawmakers to overcome
partisan differences and work together to transfer inmates
to other facilities and bring them to trial.
