Dr Kaukab Siddique | Editor-in-Chief Rabi' al-thani 13, 1428/ May 1, 2007 #34

New Trend ahead of the curve again:
April 30, 2007: Ali Larijani, from Iran's Supreme National Security Council, met the U.S.-installed Iraqi "Prime Minister" Nuri al-Maliki in Baghdad. Larijani is on a 3-day "unannounced" visit to Iraq. [Source: Tehran Times, April 30] Baghdad airport through which Larjani arrived is controlled by the U.S.

April 29: Iran accepted an invitation to attend a conference called by the U.S.-backed Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak in Sharm el-Shaikh, Egypt, starting May 3. The U.S. will be represented by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. On being asked if she would meet the Iranians [on CNN April 30], Dr. Rice almost blushed and said that it was possible and could happen.
[While all the great analysts, from Fisk to Pilger to the right wingers were saying that the U.S. would bomb Iran, New Trend was saying that all the hot talk was a smoke screen for Iran-U.S. intersection of interests which leave out the Islamic world.]

LATEST NEWS: The Islamic fighting forces in SOMALIA have re-captured the southern city of Kismayo.
The Ethiopian offensive against Mogadishu has petered out. The Ethiopians destroyed entire neighborhoods, killing 1300 civilians, but the mujahideen came back and the Ethiopians were forced to retreat. Nearly 300,000 people left their homes to escape Ethiopian atrocities.
[Notice that the lobbies busy smearing Sudan about Darfur are quite silent about Somalia.]

Islamic Leader Praises Confession on Imam Jamil We Published

As Salaamu Alaikum
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Mercy-Giving. As to what follows...

This letter of confession on Imam Jamil should be on the front page of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal and sent to Oprah, as well as The Final Call, Muslim Journal, Horizon Magazine, Minaret, Al Talib, etc. Ya Sheikh. Who is leading this campaign? Shukran for your great work.

Imam Umar [Warith Deen Umar lives in Albany, New York. He gave America a unique example of standing up to Bush's storm troopers.]

Note to Imam Umar: Jamaat al-Muslimeen and New Trend are the servants of the Ummah. We are not leaders but servants. Our task is to mobilize support for the real leaders.

Islamophobia is a myth: Government Oppression is a fact: Islam Spreading Despite Media Blitz Against Islam
Jamaat al-Muslimeen Press Release

Do the American people hate Islam and Muslims? Is Islamophobia rampant in America? No! Those are myths spread by CAIR-less self-serving Muslim groups linked to the Zionist regime.

Muslims in America are being oppressed and targeted by the U.S. government and the Zionist-controlled media. "Islam haters" like Glenn Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity proliferate on TV. Books are published against Islam by Bernard Lewis and his community. Newspapers like New York Post pull no punches. More sophisticated attacks come from PBS
[re: America at the Crossroads program, etc.]

But look at the general public. Zionist propaganda has been a dismal failure in stirring up the people against Muslims. CAIR-less groups try very hard to prove that Americans are roiling in Islamophobia. These CAIR-less groups are Muslim versions of the Jewish ADL. Why is Islam spreading? Here are the real reasons:

Muslims are good neighbors.
Muslims do not break laws.
Muslims do not drink or fornicate.
Muslims respect women.
Muslims help the needy, the downtrodden and the oppressed.
Muslims do not despise the poor and the uneducated.
Muslims explain Islam in a rational, unemotional, calm manner.
The hijab of the Muslim woman is the greatest example of Islam. It shows the non-Muslim women that there can be a way out of the sexual anarchy which America faces.

Of course, that's the mainstream of Islam in America. There are those who go against these generalization or those who are Muslims only in name. Christians and Jews are shrewd enough to know the big difference between a practicing Muslim and a non-practicing Muslim.

CAIR-less groups are wasting their time trying to list a handful of evil acts committed in a population of 300+ million. Let us unite to oppose governmental-Zionist oppression of the Muslims of America.

News from the American Gulag
The Blind Shaikh

His Mind is Strong: He is firm in his Faith: Physically very Weak

[New York City: April 27, 2007 Dr. Kaukab Siddique was able to have a brief interview with Mr. Ramsey Clark, former Attorney General of the U.S. and leader of the Anti-War movement in the U.S. Here is an excerpt:]

Kaukab Siddique: I have been following your initiative to impeach Bush. I support you on this and ask all my friends to sign your Impeach Bush web site.

Ramsey Clark: It's good to hear from you!

KS: Imam Badi Ali wants to invite you to speak in Greensboro. He is leaving the date open for you.
Badi did very well with Cindy Sheehan a few days back. Nearly 600 people turned up. We want to build on this success by inviting you.

RC: It's very difficult right now. I have several hearings coming up. Try me in June.

KS: Also, I want to sit down with you again to be able to complete my book about you.

RC: Yes, June would be good for that too.

KS: I am very concerned about the condition of Shaikh Omar 'Abdel Rahman. There is no news of him. A few months back the government issued a security warning that he might be dying [if not dead].

RC: I talked with him on Monday. [April 22]

KS: Alhamdulillah! I mean, that's great news! How is he?

RC: He is in medical prison owing to his health condition, with diabetes, lung problem and a number of other ailments.

KS: Is he able to respond or is he completely broken down?

RC: Mentally he is as strong as ever. Very clear and firm in his thinking and in his faith. He has not shown any weakness on his stance.

KS: [under his breath] Allahu Akbar! [Audibly]. But they said he was dying [or almost dead]!

RC: They say that every now and then. Of course his conditions are not good.

KS: Thank you Mr. Clark!

RC: It's always good to hear from you!

Zaid Shakir swallowed the Zionist Lie Hook, line and Sinker!

Self-Styled Leader Slandered the martyr Saddam Hussein

by Kaukab Siddique

I want to respond to Zaid Shakir of Zaytuna Institute in northern California. Inshallah, if Shakir's nafs has not totally suppressed his Islam, he might reconsider. When Shakir was young, he was a member of our Jamaat al-Muslimeen. He left for nationalistic reasons. Unfortunately, his nationalism has now moved from Black Nationalism to flag waving American nationalism. Still there is no harm in trying.

Zaid Shakir went out of his way to insult and abuse Saddam Hussein [shaheed]. Even that would not be a surprise: just about every Jewish intellectual and neo-con has done the same. However, Shakir's interviewer seemed to be even lazier in his thinking than Shakir and effusively compared him to Malcolm X. What a travesty! Nobody can be farther the from noble vision of Malcolm X than Zaid Shakir.

Here is what Shakir said about Saddam:

"ZS: I think that Saddam was a murderous tyrant. He got what he dished out to a lot of people. You know, I really have no opinion on that. I'm not one of these people who's going to say Saddam shouldn't have been killed on Eid (an Islamic holiday)."

How shameful! This self-styled "leader" is so hard-hearted that it's okay for him if Saddam is hanged on Eid day! What has happened to Zaid Shakir? I didn't know that he is such an unforgiving person.

First a little lesson to Shakir about people who embrace Islam as Saddam did. [Looks like Shakir never thought of his own reversion to Islam. Was his own past perfect?]

An elementary student of Islam would know that when a person embraces Islam, all his past sins and wrong doings are forgiven. Even our children know that one is not to be blamed for or even reminded of evil deeds done before Islam. Three outstanding examples might help Zaid Shakir remember.
Khalid ibn al-Waleed, r.a., killed the Sahaba, r.a., of the Prophet, pbuh, at the battle of Uhud. When he embraced Islam, not only were his sins forgiven, he became the Sword of Allah.
Umar ibn al-Khattab, r.a., took out a sword and was on his way to kill the Prophet, pbuh, himself, when he underwent an experience which brought him into Islam.
The Banu Ummaya under the command of Abu Sufyan fought against Islam but then accepted Islam and fought the Jihad more valiantly than any in the Prophet's, pbuh, own clan, the Banu Hashim.

Is it possible that Zaid Shakir is not aware of the history-making changes which occurred in the personality of President Saddam Hussein [shaheed]. Shakir writes with great ignorance:

"I am not one to have sympathy for Saddam. He killed a lot of Muslims. He is responsible for a lot of deaths. As they say, what goes around comes around. The way he killed a lot of people he did not afford them a dignified death. So, Allah t'ala created circumstances where he did not die a dignified death."

Let us look at the facts of Saddam's struggle which are undeniable:

Saddam was militarily weak but he refused to surrender to or knuckle under to the combined power of the U.S., U.K. and NATO.
Under the most severe sanctions and embargo in the history of modern times, he kept the Iraqi people united and refused to surrender Iraq's sovereignty.
In 1998, Saddam called on the Islamic scholars of Iraq to prepare the nation for Jihad. The Ulema were then given every opportunity to preach Islam.
Saddam set up a free Islamic university in Baghdad to which numerous students came from all over Africa, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
He renovated the mosque of Imam Abu Hanifa, the mausoleum of Abdul Qadir Jilani and the Shi'ite shrines in Karbala.
Although some of the Shi'ites and Kurds had risen in armed rebellion against him, instigated by the U.S. and Iran, he forgave them and issued a general AMNESTY.
Saddam knew that the U.S. had decided to attack Iraq with overwhelming military force but he refused to surrender. Russia offered him a chance to spend the rest of his life in luxury in a Dacha in the Crimea but he refused.
Owing to Saddam's persistent support for the Palestinian people and for martyrdom operations against Israel, every Zionist Jew in America, from professor to politician, raised a storm of dirty propaganda against him. It was evident that International Jewry would destroy Iraq.
The choice before Saddam was to: DIE like a LION or live like a Jackal. He decided to die like a Lion.
Famed U.S. novelist Clancy, closely connected to the military establishment, revealed that the U.S. tried to kill Saddam 33 times during the sanctions decade, before the war.
When the massive bombardment of Baghdad, known as SHOCK and AWE began, the primary target was Saddam. A superpower was trying to kill the President of a sovereign nation. Saddam decided to go down fighting.
Many of Saddam's top military commanders had sold out to the U.S. He knew that, yet he would not surrender. When the U.S. actually captured Baghdad and occupied Iraq with 135,000 heavily armed troops with tremendous firepower, Saddam went UNDERGROUND and continued to lead the resistance. The President had become the Mujahideen! A first in modern Arab history.
Saddam's sons and his grandson went down fighting against the occupation forces.
After nearly nine months of fighting, the Americans captured Saddam. Among his meager possessions was a little notebook in which kept accounts of every dollar he spent in the Jihad. Such was his honesty.
During his captivity, the U.S. steadily tried to demoralize him and trivialize him but he remained strong in Islam, seeking solace in the Qur'an which he read on an ongoing basis.
During the show trial which was held to "convict" the mujahid President, it became apparent that the charges against him were bogus. His attorneys were terrorized and the witnesses against him remained concealed. He stood strong throughout the trial, constantly seeking inspiration from the Qur'an and urging the Iraqi people to resist the occupation.
Finally, the U.S. arrived at its pre-determined plan to execute Saddam. This execution on Eid day was a slap in the face of the entire Islamic world.
Saddam went to his martyrdom with a demeanor which was so calm, spiritual and full of the light of faith in Allah that people could see what a martyr is like: unafraid, focused on the honor of Iraq and the Arab and Muslim people and admonishing his Shi'ite executioners about their shameful behavior as agents of America.
O Allah! Forgive his sins and accept his martyrdom!

Let us look briefly at what the Qur'an says about FORGIVENESS of the sins of those who sacrifice themselves in Allah's way:

"...Those who left their homes or were driven out therefrom or suffered harm in MY Cause, or fought, or were slain, surely I will remove from them their sins and admit them into gardens with rivers flowing beneath;- a reward from the presence of Allah, and from His Presence is the best of rewards. Let not the strutting about of the unbelievers through the land deceive thee." [The Qur'an 3:195-196.]

The Hadith makes it very clear that Allah forgives a person who fights for Islam and sacrifices himself/herself:

"A person stood up and asked: O messenger of Allah! If I am killed in Allah's way, will my errors be forgiven? The messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said: Yes! If you patiently persevere, seeking [Allah's] reward, advancing and not retreating. All will be forgiven except debt. The angel Jibreel has told me so."
[Narrated by Abu Qatada, r.a. See the Sahih of Muslim, kitab al-Imarat, Sunan of Tirmidhi, chapters on Jihad, Sunan of Nasai: kitab al-Jihad, and the Musnad of Ahmad ibn Hanbal .]

It is true that Saddam had many weaknesses. He was not the perfect Muslim but one who emerged from his jahiliyya past into the glory of Islam. He would fall under the third category of martyrs whom the Prophet, pbuh, has defined:

"...And the believer whose good deeds and bad deeds are mixed, he faces the enemy, affirms Allah and accepts martyrdom, he is in the third category of martyrdom..." [Narrated by ‘Utba bin Abdus Salami, r.a., in the Sunan of Tirmidhi, in the chapters on the excellence of Jihad, Al-Baihaqi Shu'ib al-Iman, and the Musnad of Ahmad ibn Hanbal,]

Saddam spent almost NINE months in the fields of Jihad. He organized what is known as the resistance today [or what the U.S. calls "the insurgency"]. Four years later, his trusted friend, Ibrahim al-Douri is still fighting and leading the resistance. Saddam hid huge caches of weaponry and ammunition in the countryside. As a result, today resistance is an every day event in western, central, northern and northwestern Iraq, although Al-Qaidah in Iraq has emerged as a leading force and in some cases taken over the resistance.

Saddam was underground for nine months. Nine months is a long time. The Prophet, pbuh, taught even about ONE day of Jihad that:

"Going out in Allah's way [to fight] is better than the whole world and all that is in it." [Narrated by Sahl ibn Sa'ad, r.a., in the Sahih of Bukhari, kitab al-Jihad and Sahih Muslim, kitab al-Imarat.]

Finally, Zaid Shakir has mentioned charges of gassing against Iranians and Kurds, etc. All this is Zionist propaganda and cannot [and could not] stand up in a court of law. Ramsey Clark and others have shown that the Iranians used gas and then attributed it to Saddam. The enemies of Islam are quick to add zeros to any figure and start distributing it through the media channels which they thoroughly control. I would warn Shakir to remember this verse of the Qur'an:

"O ye who believe! If a wrong doer [fasiq] comes to you with news, check it out critically, lest ye harm people unwittingly and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done." [The Qur'an 49:6]

One who speaks against the martyr insults Islam and can only be seen as an agent of disunity.

"Kashmir is Pakistan's Jugular Vein: Have no Illusions about India after Rahul Gandhi's Disclosure"

Hafiz Saeed Addresses Huge Open Air Friday Prayer Gathering in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI – 10th Rabi-us-Thani, 1428 – April 28, 2007

Ameer, Jama't-ud-Da'wah Pakistan, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, led the Friday Prayers at the historic Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi . Men and women, along with their children, turned out in the thousands, in searing heat, to hear Hafiz Saeed's sermon, and to pray Friday Prayers behind him. Prayer leaders from many Masajid of the city and environs had also arrived at Liaqat Bagh, along with their communities, for this special occasion.

Many members of Jama't-ud-Da'wah's central leadership, including Professor Hafiz Abd-ur-Rahman Makki, Maulana Ameer Hamza, Hafiz Saifullah Mansoor, and quite a few others, addressed a program about the glorious life and traditions of the Prophet, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, which had been organized before the Friday Prayers. These speakers gave impassioned speeches about the current condition of the Muslim Ummah, specifically the challenges faced by the Ummah in these times at the hands of non-Muslims. Islamic songs were also played between speeches during this program, while Jama't-ud-Da'wah's flags and banners, proudly displaying the monotheistic Islamic declaration of faith that 'There is no god except Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger' could be seen everywhere in and around Liaqat Bagh as far as the eye could see.

Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, in his address to the gathering at the end of the program, said the Jews and the believers in three gods (Christians) are not an obstacle in the prominence of Islam in the world, but in fact, Muslims, themselves, he argued, are the biggest obstacle to this occurrence. He said the current systems of society, politics, and the judiciary, in Islamic countries, are in direct conflict with Islam. He stressed that Muslims will remain subjugated, humiliated, and crushed in the world until and unless we get rid of these and other such un-Islamic systems made and imposed by non-Muslims. He said there is no place for parties and sects in Islam, as all Muslims are like one body, one Ummah, in Islam. He said we must follow the path of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them, and the Pious Caliphs, may Allah be pleased with them, in the light of the character and the tradition of the Prophet, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

He said Pakistan's founder, Qaid-e-Azam, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, had termed Kashmir as Pakistan's jugular vein. It is a shame, he said, that the current rulers of the country, instead of freeing Pakistan's jugular vein from the clutches of the enemy, are instead gravely hurting the freedom movement. He said the government has boasted that they will construct dams for water storage and to generate much needed electricity for the country, but what these dim-witted rulers do not realize is that where will they get the water for these dams if they keep acting irresponsibly on the Kashmir issue. The freedom of Kashmir from India's illegal and brutal occupation, he said, is the first necessary step towards Pakistan's development. He said although India had lodged sedition cases against Syed Ali Gilani for raising the Pakistani flag at public rallies, yet we assure him that we are prepared to give every possible sacrifice for the freedom of Kashmir.

Speaking about Rahul Gandhi's recent boast about the role of the Gandhi family in Pakistan's dismemberment, Hafiz Saeed said there is absolutely no sense in maintaining diplomatic relations with India anymore after Rahul Gandhi's admission, let alone extending a hand of friendship towards India. He said apart form the external threats, Pakistan faces a number of internal threats too, like the unrest in Balochistan. He said Pakistanis must shun the sectarianism and tribalism of being Punjabi, or Sindhi, or Pathan, and unite for an indestructible defense of the country. He said the US threats to Iran are just a farce, whereas the real threat remains for Pakistan and other Muslim nations. Communism too, he said, had once been a great enemy of Islam, yet it has been wiped off from the face of the earth. Capitalism too, he said, will soon face the same fate, in'sha'Allah.

Hafiz Saeed said we would like to inform those who give a misguided and wrong interpretation of the term, 'Jihad-e-Akbar', that the highest form of Jihad is to give sacrifices on the battle fields. Unfortunately, he said, some people are misguided about this term because the curricula in our educational institutions does not highlight the magnificent victories of Badr and Uhud (battles in the time of the Prophet, salillah hu alaihi wasallam). He said we will go to every corner of the earth to spread the glorious message of Islam. He urged all Muslim nations to work together for the implementation of Islamic systems in Muslim countries because the solution to all the problems faced by Muslim nations, whether collectively, or individually, lie in the implementation of Islamic systems, without any delay.

Prof. Hafiz Abd-ur-Rahman Makki, in his address to the gathering, said the US, Israel, and India, are the three biggest enemies of Islam, and they have laid a siege around Islamic nations. Muslim governments, on the other hand, he said, instead of responding appropriately to this challenge, seem to be, appallingly, in a state of panic. Islam, he said, under such conditions, instructs Muslims to wage Jihad with guidance from the Qur'an and the Sunnah. He said we invite Muslim nations to break relations with non-Muslims and boycott all their institutions and products, and prepare for Jihad against them, to break their strangle hold.

Maulana Ameer Hamza in his address said people are reverting to Islam in droves after studying the Seerah (the life and tradition) of the Prophet, salillah hu alaihi wasallam. He said the famous pop singer Michael Jackson, as well as, many prominent Jews had reverted to Islam in recent years. On the other hand, he said, it has been a full sixty years since Pakistan gained independence, yet Islam has still not been implemented in this country. He urged Pakistan's rulers to do so forthwith.

Hafiz Saifullah Mansoor in his speech to the gathering said, there is absolutely no need to be afraid of the enemy. He said the Muslims had taught them a lesson in the past and they need to be taught an unforgettable lesson now too. He urged Muslim rulers to stand up to these oppressors, and look them directly in the eye.

Five British Muslims, 4 of Pakistani origin, Sentenced to Life in Prison

The five men found guilty of conspiracy to cause explosions were led by Omar Khyam, 25, from Crawley, west Sussex, described as the "head and heart" of the plot. His co-conspirators were Waheed Mahmood, 35, and Jawad Akbar, 23, both from Crawley; Anthony Garcia, 25, of Barkingside, east London; and Salahuddin Amin, 32, of Luton. Shujah Mahmood, 20, from Crawley, and Nabeel Hussain, 22, of Horley, Surrey, were cleared of all charges.

Along with repercussions in Pakistan, from British newspapers it appears that Momin Khawaja is being connected to this case. Khawaja is in prison in Ottawa, Canada.

The British media and the Blair regime see these verdicts as a victory to justify the open season they have been carrying on to hunt British Muslims. The media are not publishing what the defense had to say. The main evidence is the stored fertilizer but this could have been planted by the government. Were these young men really would-be-terrorists or were they just talking "radical chic?" Life sentences for something which never happened! It reeks of bigotry and hatred against Muslims.

PAKISTAN:

U.S.-Pakistani Missiles Hit 2 Madrassas [Islamic schools]

In the night between April 26-27 missiles hit the village of Sayadgai in North Waziristan, damaging two madrassas and a home. Four people sleeping in the home were killed and 3 wounded. The Musharraf government claimed that the villagers blew themselves up. The villagers say missiles were used and they held a protest rally against the regime.

Attempt to kill Pakistani Interior Minister Fails

April 28, 2007: Charsadda, Near Peshawar: First reports indicate that a martyrdom operator tried to approach Musharraf's Minister of the Interior Aftab Sherpao at the conclusion of a Peoples Party public gathering. The explosion killed 28 people and injured 30. Sherpao was taken to hospital for treatment but the injuries were not serious and he was released. His son was also injured. Among the dead were Sherpao's Political Secretary and 3 Special Police.

Just about every politician in Pakistan condemned the attack, the loudest being Jamaate Islami and MMA. No one has claimed responsibility. Overall study of the Pakistani situation indicates that the things are getting out of control of the major political forces, both the government and the Islamic political parties.
Sherpao has been instrumental in the implementation of Musharraf's policies, including torture of Islamists and the transfer of Islamic radicals to the U.S. authorities.
During the last few years, Islamic public gatherings have been repeatedly bombed, resulting in the the murder of Maulana Shamzai and the slaughter of Ahlul Sunnah scholars. This is the first time that a gathering of the Peoples Party and its outstanding leader Sherpao has been bombed.

Imran Khan has emphasized Pakistan's anti-Afghan policies as the cause. He could be right. Sherpao was planning to leave for Kabul when the attack took place.

Bannu: April 28: Local Taliban attacked a Pakistani police unit killing 2 policemen. Bannu is a military town near the frontier.

April 30: Near the village of Syedgai [North Waziristan] which was hit by missiles [see above] hidden gunmen attacked Pakistani troops. The troops returned a hail of fire killing all 4 gunmen. One Pakistani trooper was also killed.

IRAQ: Increasing Tempo of Guerrilla Warfare: Attack on Karbala Misreported

May 1, 2007. U.S. media distributed a rumor that Al-Qaidah-in-Iraq leader Abu Ayyub al-Masri had been killed. A nice disinformation touch was added to the rumor: That al-Masri had been killed by a "Sunni group" which was tired of his "atrocities." However, by the end of the day, the media were taking their claim back. It appears that the story was put out by al-Maliki's Interior Ministry which has done this twice before.

CNN reports that 104 U.S. troops were killed in Iraq during April, bringing the official total to 3351. An American analyst has shown that the U.S. losses might be much higher than what it is reporting. For instance, in an al-Qaidah attack recently in Diyala province, the U.S. said that 9 of its elite troops were killed. Al-Qaidah claimed 30 U.S. were killed in the attack. The American analyst [a non-Muslim] accepts the al-Qaidah account on the basis of eyewitness account.

Also, there was a big bombing in Karbala. This was reported by the U.S. media as an attack on the shrines holy to Shi'ites. However, a close reading of the U.S.'s own account indicates that the attack was on a police post which was crowded at the time the martyrdom operator struck. Casualties were heavy.

AFGHANISTAN:
Massacre in Herat Province: Indiscriminate Bombing by the U.S. Atrocity in Buti Kot

April 30, 2007: The U.S. announced that it had killed 136 Taliban in Shindand area, in the western province of Herat. However, that day and on May 1, Afghans came out to protest the bombing. Local officials and finally the governor appointed by Karzai rejected the U.S. claim that the dead were Taliban.

Local officials say that all the dead are civilians, mostly women and children, who were at home when the U.S. began its bombing offensive. It's not clear why the U.S. started bombing Shindand in the Herat province. It's certainly NOT a province controlled by or supporting the Taliban.

April 29. In the Buti Kot area of Nangarhar province, U.S. troops stormed into a village home and killed 6 people, including 2 women. A little girl and a child were injured. The population of the surrounding areas came to the village, and took the bodies in a protest demonstration to the Jalalabad-Torkhum Highway. The people placed the bodies on the highway and blocked it for a six hour long protest.

The U.S. atrocity might have been triggered by the killing of a U.S. soldier in the area whose body was found hanging from a tree.

April 26-27 night: A Taliban unit captured the district of Geru in Ghazni province. They killed Karzai's head of police and 4 policemen, burned down the official buildings, cut down the phone lines and withdrew before the U.S. air force could intervene.
