Zulhijjah 14,1427/January 4, 2007 #2
Top Black intellectual, Islamist and Distinguished Professor of
Mathematics, Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz, leads Black America in mourning
President Saddam Hussein [shaheed].
Scroll down for message.
Also statements from Malaysian leader and 3 overseas Islamists.
We call on Imams to condemn the murder.
See below.
The Qur'an took her, after 9.11, from bikinis and fashion modeling
to Islam and hijab. Now she wears the niqab [face veil] to
challenge the oppressors. We hope W.D. supporter Johari Abdul Malik
will apologize for his claims against Niqab.
Please scroll all the way down
for this U.S. Muslimah's inspiring first person report.
The Harsh Reality: New Report on Qur'an desecration in Guantanamo Bay:
January 3, 2006: As a result of a lawsuit filed by ACLU [American
Civil Liberties Union] , new FBI documents have been uncovered which
give more information on the desecration of the sublime Qur'an by
U.S. forces "interrogating" Islamic prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.
The new documents have been ignored by the TV media but the
Washington Post published a little from them in its inside pages.
The report says that "a U.S. Marine captain allegedly squatted over
a copy of the Koran as part of an intense interrogation of a Muslim
prisoner." Another document says that U.S interrogators wrapped a
bearded prisoner's head in duct tape "because he would not stop
quoting the Koran." [Washington Post, Jan. 3, '07, page A4.]
Keith Ellison's Qur'an game and his Zionist Supporters
Within that context, try to understand the game the Zionist media are
playing with Keith Ellison, the "Muslim Zionist" elected to Congress.
On January 3, on CNN, notorious Islam-hater Glenn Beck and Zionist
commentator Paula Zahn spoke for a long time in support of Keith
Ellison's right to take oath of office on a Qur'an. They wanted to
mislead Muslims into thinking that they respect the Qur'an and
Ellison's right to take oath on the Qur'an. [If you know Beck's
show and his non-stop attacks on Islam before New Trend analyzed
him, you would realize the ugliness of this media game.]
Ellison does not know the first thing about the Qur'an. Hence he
supports Israel and "all Jewish causes." He fell into his own trap
when he announced that he is going to take oath on Sale's
translation of the Qur'an from the library of Jefferson [meant
to show how patriotic and American is Ellison.] Owing to his
ignorance of Islam, Ellison does not know that Sale's translation
was meant to attack the Qur'an, not to teach it. No Muslim would
take an oath on Sales's translation when Yusuf Ali and Maudoodi are
much better. If you want a non-Muslim, take Arberry.
Also, Ellison dumped his African-American heritage. He ought to know
that Jefferson was a SLAVE HOLDER and had sex with a helpless
African pre-teen slave girl resulting in her pregnancy which he
concealed. This move for a Qur'an from Jefferson's library shows
that Ellison is Black only in appearance.
Harsh Reality 2: During the Christmas holidays, the Ethiopian armed
forces carried out an invasion of Somalia with overwhelming fire power.
The lightly armed Islamic Courts militias could not face the columns of
tanks and attacks from the air. The Ethiopian army installed the puppet
U.S.-oriented clique which had been confined to a remote corner of
Somalia in the capital Mogadishu.
The Ethiopian invasion, which was blatant and unprovoked aggression,
was ignored by the western powers. The United Nations kept quiet
although its charter has been blatantly violated
The new U.N. Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, from South Korea,
hailed the execution of Saddam Hussein. Looks like the U.S. has
successfully installed a slave as Secretary General. Kofi Annan
sounds great by comparison!
CONDEMNATION of Saddam's Execution Pouring in From the World of Islam:
Top 3:
1. Palestinian Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh condemned the execution.
2. Legendary Taliban leader Mullah Umar not only condemned the
execution but said that the Muslims will take revenge.
3. Jamaate Islami Pakistan's Secretary General, Syed Munawar Hasan,
condemned the execution as a U.S. atrocity. For the first time he
criticized Iran and said that he was saddened by Ahmedinejad's
expression of joy at the execution.

Our Call: Worldwide Remembrance for President Saddam Hussein [Shaheed]
Jamaat al-Muslimeen leader Imam Badi Ali was the first to lead
salatul janaza ghaibana [funeral prayers in absentia] for
President Hussein. We urge Muslims worldwide to pray likewise and
supplicate Allah Almighty to accept President Saddam Hussein's
sacrifice. Dear imams [worldwide] this FRIDAY [jum'a] salat
we urge you to speak in defense of the martyred President
and condemn his murder.
Remembrance of Saddam Hussein should continue till Iraq is liberated.
We urge Robert Fisk and other non-Muslim friends to stop
focusing on Saddam Hussein's sins. Who has not sinned? It's very
insulting to Islam, as Fisk has done, to claim that Saddam
was silenced to hide U.S. crimes. He was silenced because he was
the leader of the resistance.
The focus should be on his resistance, his dignity, his Islamic
resurgence. Can you think of any other leader in our times who
would not surrender after his country had been occupied by the
most powerful military force in the world?
After martyrdom, all sins are forgiven. Fisk too should forgive.
PRAY for Minister Louis Farrakhan's Recovery
World famous Islamic preacher from Ghana, Shaikh Tijany, has
asked us to pray for the health and recovery of brother Minister
Louis Farrakhan. In this matter, the crucial day is likely to be
January 5.
May Allah give success to Br. Farrakhan in this world and in the
Hereafter.
Egyptian-American Islamist
Ahmed 'Abdel Sattar
Moved to Very
Remote Area
He was not permitted to meet or even see his wife and children
before he was moved to a padded cell in a remote area of Colorado.
Why was Ahmed Abdel Sattar sentenced to 60 years in prison? because
he talked, on the phone, to opponents of the Hosni Mubarak regime
in Egypt. He is a man of the Qur'an and the Hadith and is politically
very aware. The U.S. government took its revenge on him for
supporting the basic human rights of the blind Shaikh, Omar
'Abdel Rahman.
On Christmas, December 25, Ahmed was moved from New York to
Florence, Colorado.
Dr. Alauddin Shabazz' Suffering Shows U.S. Muslims lack
Social Services
On the occasion of Eid, we talked to Br. Alauddin and his wife in
Chicago. Readers might remember that Br. Alauddin is recovering from
multiple fractures following an accident on the highway near Peoria,
Illinois.
This scholar and teacher of Islam requires 24-hour home care. His
wife and children have shown tremendous dedication in this ongoing
struggle. However, the situation does show that the Muslim community
lacks the mechanism and the network required to cope with such tragic
situations. Good wishes and du'as are needed and funds are
very welcome but that still leaves out the communal spirit of
"reaching out" and practical help which Islam REQUIRES.
If community help is missing in the case of an outstanding scholar
and man of God [Allah] like Br. Alauddin, one can well imagine the
abandonment ordinary Muslims face.
If you would like to visit Dr. Shabazz, please email:
ksidd37398@aol.com
or call: 410-435-5000 and leave your call back number with
Jamaat al-Muslimeen [extension #1].
A few visits would give the dedicated wife of Br. Alauddin a chance
to go and do other things for a few hours.
3 Editorial thoughts on Saddam Hussein [shaheed]:
by Kaukab Siddique
1. Think about the Lion of Iraq, the Lion of Islam: As the dastardly
collaborators of Zionism and imperialism took President Saddam Hussein
to the gallows, his head was unbent; he looked serene. He recited the
kalima of Islam; there is no god but the One God, Allah,
and Muhammad [pbuh] is His Prophet. The second time he said it,
the shi'ite collaborators of Zionism and imperialism cut him off at
the word "Muhammad" not allowing him to complete the kalima.
It was like the blood of Usman ibn Affan [r.a.], the third Caliph
of Islam, trickling into the very Qur'an which he had compiled.
These Shi'ites were as merciless as those Shi'ites who shed the
holy blood of 'Usman [r.a.].
Mujahid Saddam Hussein remembered Palestine right to the end.
Strong as ever against Israel, he wanted the Ummah to
liberate Palestine. No wonder the Jews saw him as an implacable
liberator of the occupied land which they illegally call "israel."
When the Shi'ite collaborators of zionism and imperialism insulted him,
he challenged them, saying: Is this your manhood? On the gallows,
Saddam Hussein looked like Jesus [pbuh] going to the cross, in
Christian paintings, or Imam Hussein at Karbala. [Strangely enough,
once more the Shias of Iraq have betrayed a Hussein.]
In the pictures of Hussein, in our own time and day, we have seen
what a shaheed looks like and how he goes from this world to
the next.
2. The Bush Administration must take responsibility for the murder.
-
The U.S. government invaded Iraq, starting its assault with the "shock
and awe" bombing offensive meant to kill the popular President of Iraq.
-
The President would not surrender. He was pursued within his own
country and captured by U.S. forces. The first photos showed that
he was being humiliated in captivity, seemingly drugged.
-
For three years, the U.S. held him in prison. A kangaroo court was
set up to try him and he was duly sentenced to death.
-
He was in U.S. custody almost to the end. He was taken in a U.S.
helicopter to the execution point and then handed over to the the
servants of the U.S. for execution.
-
All these media games to convince Muslims that the "Iraqis" committed
this crime can fool only a few people.
3. TWO BLIND SPOTS of the Bush Administration:
* Bush is under the impression that the Shi'as form the majority of
Iraqis. "Shi'as" are the majority" has been said so many times that
no one asks: WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE? Who determined that the Shi'as
are the majority? Most probably they are a minority and hence need
powerful military support from the U.S.
* Bush keeps claiming that elections were held in Iraq and a
legitimate government has been established. He forgets that under
International Law, military occupation nullifies any claims of
legitimacy and democracy. The "elections" held by Russia in Chechnya
and by India in Kashmir are illegitimate for the same reason. There
can be no democracy under occupation. The al-Maliki regime is as
illegitimate as the Jaafari regime was. Both were U.S. surrogates.
MESSAGE from top Black Intellectual and Islamist: Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz
Re: Dr. Siddique's Analysis of Eid Day murder of President Saddam Hussein
I just read every word of this [January 1] issue of New Trend. Your
piece on Saddam Hussein is a masterpiece. As I was traveling, I did
not know exactly when the criminals murdered Saddam. By the time I
reached Philadelphia, I knew that the evil deed had been done. Of
course, I teared up, for I know and knew what great work he had
done and was doing. And he met his murder without ever bowing his
head and giving an iota of plea for mercy to his murderers. Long,
long, long live the strugglers for justice, truth, and peace!
Indeed, without justice there can be no peace. No justice, no
peace! walaikum asalam!

Malaysian Leader says:
Execution of President Hussein was a Barbaric Lynching
by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
Global Research, January 1, 2007
On the Holy day of Eid, the world watched in horror at the barbaric
lynching of President Saddam Hussein of Iraq, allegedly for crimes
against humanity. This public murder was sanctioned by the War
Criminals, President Bush and Prime Minister Blair.
This sadistic act broadcasted to the whole world is a travesty of
justice, and was meant to demonstrate the imperial power of the
United States and serves as a warning to peace loving peoples that
we must either bow to the dictates of the Bush regime or face the
consequences of a public lynching.
The lynching was also an insult to all Muslims, as it occurred on
the Holy Day of Eid, whereby Muslims devote themselves to prayer
and forgiveness. It is all too clear that the war criminal Bush has
no sensitivities whatsoever for Muslims on their pilgrimage to Mecca.
This barbaric act is a sacrilege!
The entire trial process was a mockery of justice, no less a Kangaroo
Court. Defense counsels were brutally murdered, witnesses threatened
and judges removed for being impartial and replaced by puppet judges.
Yet, we are told that Iraq was invaded to promote democracy, freedom
and justice.
A peaceful country has now been turned into a war zone. Over 500,000
children died as a result of the criminal economic sanctions, and
the latest findings by the medical journal, Lancet reveals that over
650,000 Iraqis have died since the illegal invasion of 2003.
The War Criminal Bush has killed more Iraqis than President Saddam
ever did, if in fact he was guilty of any crime. If President
Saddam Hussein is guilty of war crimes, then the world must find
Bush, Blair and Howard equally guilty and the International
Criminal Court cannot but prosecute these war criminals. The
inaction thus far by the International Criminal Court against
Bush, Blair and Howard exposes the double standard of the said
Court, when it does not hesitate to prosecute war crimes committed
in Darfur, Rwanda and Kosovo.
If we support human rights and justice, we must condemn this barbaric
lynching of President Saddam Hussein. There can be no excuse
whatsoever for this injustice under any circumstances. War Criminal
Bush and the puppet regime in Iraq have made a mockery of the Rule
of Law.

Saddam Hussein
Why I Shed Bikini for Niqab
The New Symbol of Women's Liberation
By
Sara Bokker*
I am an American woman who was born in the midst of America's "Heartland."
I grew up, just like any other girl, being fixated with the glamour of
life in "the big city." Eventually, I moved to Florida and on to South
Beach of Miami, a hotspot for those seeking the "glamorous life."
Naturally, I did what most average Western girls do. I focused on
my appearance and appeal, basing my self-worth on how much attention
I got from others. I worked out religiously and became a personal
trainer, acquired an upscale waterfront residence, became a regular
"exhibiting" beach-goer and was able to attain a "living-in-style"
kind of life.
Years went by, only to realize that my scale of self-fulfillment and
happiness slid down the more I progressed in my "feminine appeal."
I was a slave to fashion. I was a hostage to my looks.
As the gap continued to progressively widen between my self-fulfillment
and lifestyle, I sought refuge in escapes from alcohol and parties to
meditation, activism, and alternative religions, only to have the
little gap widen to what seemed like a valley. I eventually
realized it all was merely a pain killer rather than an effective
remedy.
By now it was September 11, 2001. As I witnessed the ensuing barrage
on Islam, Islamic values and culture, and the infamous declaration of
the "new crusade," I started to notice something called Islam. Up
until that point, all I had associated with Islam was women covered
in "tents," wife beaters, harems, and a world of terrorism.
As a feminist libertarian, and an activist who was pursuing a better
world for all, my path crossed with that of another activist who was
already at the lead of indiscriminately furthering causes of reform
and justice for all. I joined in the ongoing campaigns of my new
mentor which included, at the time, election reform and civil
rights, among others. Now my new activism was fundamentally
different. Instead of "selectively" advocating justice only to
some, I learned that ideals such as justice, freedom, and respect
are meant to be and are essentially universal, and that own good
and common good are not in conflict. For the first time, I knew
what "all people are created equal" really means. But most
importantly, I learned that it only takes faith to see the world
as one and to see the unity in creation.
One day I came across a book that is negatively stereotyped in the
West--The Holy Qur'an. I was first attracted by the style and
approach of the Qur'an, and then intrigued by its outlook on
existence, life, creation, and the relationship between Creator
and creation. I found the Qur'an to be a very insightful address
to heart and soul without the need for an interpreter or pastor.
Eventually I hit a moment of truth: my new-found self-fulfilling
activism was nothing more than merely embracing a faith called
Islam where I could live in peace as a "functional" Muslim.
I bought a beautiful long gown and head cover resembling the Muslim
woman's dress code and I walked down the same streets and
neighborhoods where only days earlier I had walked in my
shorts, bikini, or "elegant" western business attire. Although
the people, the faces, and the shops were all the same, one thing
was remarkably distinct--I was not--nor was the peace at being a
woman I experienced for the very first time. I felt as if the
chains had been broken and I was finally free. I was delighted
with the new looks of wonder on people's faces in place of the
looks of a hunter watching his prey I had once sought. Suddenly
a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I no longer spent all
my time consumed with shopping, makeup, getting my hair done, and
working out. Finally, I was free.
Of all places, I found my Islam at the heart of what some call "the
most scandalous place on earth," which makes it all the more dear
and special.
While content with Hijab I became curious about Niqab, seeing an
increasing number of Muslim women in it. I asked my Muslim husband,
whom I married after I reverted to Islam, whether I should wear
Niqab or just settle for the Hijab I was already wearing. My
husband simply advised me that he believes Hijab is mandatory in
Islam while Niqab is not. At the time, my Hijab consisted of head
scarf that covered all my hair except for my face, and a loose long
black gown called "Abaya" that covered all my body from neck to toe.
A year-and-a-half passed, and I told my husband I wanted to wear Niqab.
My reason, this time, was that I felt it would be more pleasing to
Allah, the Creator, increasing my feeling of peace at being more
modest. He supported my decision and took me to buy an "Isdaal,"
a loose black gown that covers from head to toe, and Niqab, which
covers all my head and face except for my eyes.
Soon enough, news started breaking about politicians, Vatican
clergymen, libertarians, and so-called human rights and freedom
activists condemning Hijab at times, and Niqab at others as being
oppressive to women, an obstacle to social integration, and more
recently, as an Egyptian official called it--"a sign of backwardness."
I find it to be a blatant hypocrisy when Western governments and
so-called human rights groups rush to defend woman's rights when
some governments impose a certain dress code on women, yet such
"freedom fighters" look the other way when women are being deprived
of their rights, work, and education just because they choose to
exercise their right to wear Niqab or Hijab. Today, women in Hijab
or Niqab are being increasingly barred from work and education not
only under totalitarian regimes such as in Tunisia, Morocco, and
Egypt, but also in Western democracies such as France, Holland,
and Britain.
Today I am still a feminist, but a Muslim feminist, who calls on
Muslim women to assume their responsibilities in providing all the
support they can for their husbands to be good Muslims. To raise
their children as upright Muslims so they may be beacons of light
for all humanity once again. To enjoin good--any good--and to
forbid evil--any evil. To speak righteousness and to speak up
against all ills. To fight for our right to wear Niqab or Hijab
and to please our Creator whichever way we chose. But just as
importantly to carry our experience with Niqab or Hijab to fellow
women who may never have had the chance to understand what wearing
Niqab or Hijab means to us and why do we, so dearly, embrace it.
Most of the women I know wearing Niqab are Western reverts, some of
whom are not even married. Others wear Niqab without full support
of either family or surroundings. What we all have in common is
that it is the personal choice of each and every one of us, which
none of us is willing to surrender.
Willingly or unwillingly, women are bombarded with styles of
"dressing-in-little-to-nothing" virtually in every means of
communication everywhere in the world. As an ex non-Muslim,
I insist on women's right to equally know about Hijab, its
virtues, and the peace and happiness it brings to a woman's
life as it did to mine. Yesterday, the bikini was the symbol
of my liberty, when in actuality it only liberated me from my
spirituality and true value as a respectable human being.
I couldn't be happier to shed my bikini in South Beach and the
"glamorous" Western lifestyle to live in peace with my Creator
and enjoy living among fellow humans as a worthy person. It is
why I choose to wear Niqab, and why I will die defending my
inalienable right to wear it.
Today, Niqab is the new symbol of woman's liberation to find who
she is, what her purpose is, and the type of relation she chooses
to have with her Creator.
To women who surrender to the ugly stereotype against the Islamic
modesty of Hijab, I say: You don't know what you are missing.
To you, the ill-fated corrupting conquerors of civilization,
so-called crusaders, I say: BRING IT ON.
