Imam Warith Deen Umar Refuses to Plea Bargain:
Firm Stand Against State Terrorism
At the hearing on May 23 in New York, the government
threatened Imam 'Umar that if he does not admit his fault,
he will be tried and sent to prison for at least a year.
His "fault" is that he had a gun charge THREE DECADES BACK.
The government wanted that not only he should admit his
"guilt," he should guarantee that he will not sue the
government, and he should give his DNA and his plea
should be signed by an officer of Homeland Security. In
other words, an attempt to connect him to 'terrorist
organizations' is underway. His passport has been seized
and his movement has been restricted to the state of New York.
Imam Umar is fighting back against the violation of his
rights. He wants the government to return his computers
and his papers, discs, books, etc. He refused to plea
bargain, so now the next hearing will be held on May 31.
We urge Muslims and people of conscience to rally in
support of this Islamic leader. Imam Umar is following
the example of the Prophet, pbuh. He is one of the few
who are comparable to Imam Jamil al-Amin and Malcolm X.
[Allah Akbar wa lilla hil Hamd.]
ROLL BACK the Zionist Offensive Against Sudan:
Hodari Abdul Ali Speaks
On May 21, a program about Sudan and the tragic
situation in its Darfur region was held at Masjid
Jamaat al-Muslimeen in Baltimore, Maryland. The keynote
speaker was Br. Hodari Abdul Ali, a distinguished Muslim
and businessman from Washington, DC and an activist for
peace in the African-American community.
Br. Hodari's presentation was systematic and quite
thorough. He spoke for about 90 minutes, starting with
a review of the geography and history of the Nile
civilization rooted in Sudan. He explained at some length
the genesis of the civil war in southern Sudan. It was
NOT a war between Christians and Muslims, he said.
Christians are only 5% of the Sudan and owing to the
fighting many of them took refuge in the Islamic city of Khartoum.
A video clip was shown from a '60' Minutes CBS program
which brought out how the fraudulent story of "slavery
in Sudan" was manufactured and sold to the American people.
About Darfur, Br. Hodari explained the hollowness of the
propaganda which presents the conflict as "genocide" by
the Sudanese government. He identified the two sides in
the conflict, how the fighting was initiated by the rebels,
and the efforts being made to bring about peace.
Br. Hodari, a tall, impressive personality, who spoke
perfect English and seemed to have researched his subject
thoroughly, brought to the audience the vicious web of lies
being woven by the enemies of Islam. The effort is being
made, he said, to paint such a horrifying picture of Islam
with reference to Sudan that the growing process of
conversion to Islam in America may be stopped.
The program was chaired by Dr. Kaukab Siddique who urged
the audience to realize the imminent danger to Sudan from
the Zionist-Jewish lobby. America's Jewish organizations
have united againjst Sudan, he said. He urged Muslims to
speak out and to answer the lies of the Israelis who want
to push the U.S. into starting another "Iraq" in Sudan.
Among the distinguished guests present were Dr. Abdul Alim
Shabazz, Sis. Zakia Mahasa [Baltimore's first Muslim woman
judge], the editor of Salam magazine, Baltimore's oldest
Islamic African-American paper, Ken Meyercord, producer of
Fairfax Public Access, and Muslms from several African countries.
Closing remarks were made by Sis. Ashira who lived for an
extended period of time in Sudan and who initiated the
counterattack on the Zionist anti-Sudan propaganda started
by the Baltimore Sun paper several years back.
Beware, Beware, here comes Ayaan Hirsi Ali:
Who? Many Muslims don't know the havoc this lady has
wrought in Holland. She had some genuine complaints
against the Muslims of her homeland, Somalia, including
her father, regarding mistreatment of women. She came as
an immigrant to Holland and was rapidly promoted by the
anti-Islam and racist elements in Dutch society. She then
attacked Islam outright and went on to abuse and insult
Prophet Muhammad, peace be on him. The more she abused
Islam, the more the right wing Dutch hailed her till she
became member of Parliament! Now the Dutch find that she
is a liar and her lies have been caught in her legal
paperwork. So now she is leaving Holland and coming to
the U.S., and guess whose "think Tank" she is going to
work for?: Richard Perle, one of the Jewish leaders of
America's war party. Already, the New York Times and other
U.S. papers have welcomed her and have shown her as a "victim."
Hirsi Ali created so much hatred in Holland against Islam
that she was able to help produce a movie with famed movie
producer Theo Von Gogh, brazenly attacking Islam. In the
movie, verses of the Qur'an are shown written on the bodies
of abused women. The film producer was killed by an enraged
Moroccan Muslim who refused to defend himself when taken to
court. Dutch racists then attacked and burned numerous
Islamic schools and mosques. Hirsi Ali's hate
campaign scarred Holland.
Now this woman is coming to the U.S. This will be Michelle
Malkin with a Muslim name.
Important News:
New Trend Suggests, Islamic Scholars Symbolically Try
Bush, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld etc for Crimes Against Humanity
and Violation of International Law.
Too Little Too Late: A body of the United Nations
has accused the United States government of torture in
Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay. It has urged the
U.S. to close down the Guantanamo detention center.
New Trend's observers say that the UN's anti-torture
affiliate seems to have suddenly awakened to the
reality after three years of worldwide condemnation
of the U.S. government's activities.
New Trend was the first to point out that the
setting up of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp was a
violation of International law as it involved the
transportation of people away from their homeland. Lawyers
for some of the Islamic detainees say that more than 80%
of the Guantanamo Bay prisoners have nothing to do with
al-Qaida or Taliban.
The U.S. government is involved in crimes against
International Law and crimes against humanity. Does
any UN organization have the moral courage to state
that reality? It's up to the Islamic world to bring
charges against Bush and his Zionist-Jewish war party
involved in these crimes. Less than 36% of the American
people support Bush's policies of open ended war.
Congressman Murtha [D-PA] has accused U.S. marines of
murder of civilians in Haditha, Iraq. Ramsey Clark is
leading a campaign to impeach Bush. In fact Bush, Wolfowitz,
Perle, Rumsfeld and some of the Generals in the field
should be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
If the men led by General Abizaid and General Pace include
forces which destroy entire villages to be able to kill one
guerrilla fighter, there should be a war crimes tribunal to
try these men. There is no point in punishing small fry as
was done in the Abu Ghraib torture and degradation cases.
USA a failed state which has no solution to its problems?
USA's prison population has grown by 2.6%. Each week
another 1,000 inmates enter U.S. prisons.
[CNN Headline News, May 21, 2006]
[Ed. note: For America's oppressed people, Islam is the only solution.]
On the other end of the spectrum, a top housing
industry mortgage network, Fanny Mae, is so
crooked that it has been fined $400 million for
cheating in its account books, to give bonuses to its bosses.
Malcolm X's May 19th Anniversary:
There is deafening silence from the four letter groups
of Muslims about the man most responsible for the
spread of Islam in America, al-Hajj Malik Shabazz
[Malcolm X]. W.D.'s group used to talk about Malcolm X
in an effort to glorify their own uncle tom leader: now
they don't even try. These groups are working so closely
in step with the policies of the Bush adminstration that
even mentioning the martyr of Islam in America might close
the doors of the White House on them.
Remember how strong Malcolm was about the U.S. CIA's
activities in the Congo [leading to the murder of
Lumumba]. Now these "Muslims made in America" keep
their flocks not only away from any criticism of the
U.S., but expressed deep sorrow that they were not
allowed to speak in the Jewish rally which was mobilizing
support for U.S. interference in Sudan through propaganda
about Darfur. Imagine what Malcolm would have said.
The Malcolm X of today, Imam Jamil al-Amin is
being humiliated in prison [with strip searches and 23
hour lockdown]. Not a word of protest from these
hypocrites who claim to be Muslims. They are using
their funds to misdirect and control thousands of
Muslims in their "meet-you-in-the-Hilton" "Islamic" conventions.
Massacre in Afghanistan
U.S. Claimed it Killed 80 Taliban and 16
Civilians but Almost all are Women and Children.
U.S. government agencies were triumphant early on May 22
and proclaimed that 80 Taliban had been killed and 50
wounded and that (alas) 16 civilians had also been killed.
A U.S. air strike had hit the village of Azizi, near
Kandahar. [Fox TV News.] However by that evening, U.S.
news sources suddenly downgraded the U.S. victory to "20
Taliban killed" and another 50 dead not clearly identified.
The U.S. media said that 16 civilians had been killed
because the Taliban were "hiding among civilians."
However, on May 23 Pakistani Urdu language newspapers gave
details of the attack which indicated that the U.S. air
force has carried out a massacre of civilians and that
Taliban losses were neglible in the air attack. The most
detailed account appeared in the Urdu daily Ummat,
probably the only paper which has reporters on the ground in Kandahar.
As the bodies started arriving in Kandahar's main hospital,
it was clearly that the 70 killed are ALL civilians, mostly
women and children. One refugee from Azizi, named Ata
Muhammad, eyewitness to the attack, lost 26 members of his
family in the bombing. The chief of the local tribe Haji
Ahmad Jan, said that American planes bombed the homes of
ordinary people and that there were NO TALIBAN there.
He testified that most of those killed are women and
children. Afghans who arrived at Chaman in Pakistan say
that American started their bombing raids in the middle
of the night. The entire village was wiped out and piles
of bodies were being brought out.
The U.S. does seem to have committed an atrocity because
"coalition forces" are not allowing journalists from
entering the actual area which has been hit. Villagers
say that the mosque [masjid] and Islamic school in the
village were bombed. The U.S. bombs Islamic places of
worship because it believes that if such places are hit,
at least some of the martyrs will be Taliban because the
fighters are known for their intense devotion to the Qur'an
and the Sunnah, reports say.
The daily Ummat adds that all the martyrs, mostly
women and children, were fast asleep when the U.S. air
force hit the village. The bombing went on for several
hours [repeated sorties, in U.S. air force jargon].
According to the latest reports, even Karzai, the U.S.
puppet, is showing concern, and the U.S. has promised to
investigate how civilians got killed.
Please take a minute of your time to call the
Chancellor of the University of California, Irvine,
to show support for freedom of expression. The Editor
of New Trend called him on May 23. See info below..
Action Alert: Defend Free Speech at UC Irvine
May 22, 2006
During the week of May 15, 2006, the Muslim Student Union
at the University of California, Irvine held a campaign
titled "Holocaust in the Holyland" that included a number
of events including lectures by Norman Finklestein and
others, a rally that included solidarity with worker's
rights and other social justice issues, and the building
of a mock Israeli Apartheid wall. One of the lectures was
titled "Israel: the 4th Reich."
The official university response to student and community
objections to these titles has been to uphold the MSU's
free speech rights. However, we fear that the pressure
of local and national Zionist organizations may be
pressuring the university to take a different approach.
In addition, UC Irvine is being sued by the Zionist
Organization of America in the Civil Rights Office of
the U.S. Department of Education for allegedly fostering
an anti-Semitic climate on campus. For these reasons, it
is important that we applaud and support the position of
the university administration at this time. For more
background information, see below.
MSU's Mock Apartheid Wall
"Irvine held a campaign titled "Holocaust in the
Holyland" that included a number of events including
lectures by Norman Finklestein and others, a rally
that included solidarity with worker's rights and
other social justice issues, and the building of a
mock Israeli Apartheid wall."
How to Help:
Write letters, email and call administrators at the
University of California, Irvine, and suggest the
following talking points:
-
Thank and support the university administration as it
upholds free speech rights for the Muslim Student
Union's anti-Zionist week (especially in the face of
the Zionist counter-campaign).
-
Reassert that anti-Zionism is not equivalent to
anti-Semitism, and that these two titles, "Holocaust
in the Holyland" and "Israel: the 4th Reich" are clearly
statements against Israeli policies.
-
Question the disproportionate response by individual
administrators (in the LA Times article, and in the
public keynote address during an undergraduate research
symposium) to the MSU titles, while anti-Muslim events
on campus have not been so quickly criticized.

More on the Attack on Free Speech at UCI
While the official position of the university as been
an admirable one, individual university administrators
have taken it upon themselves to make condemnatory
statements about the MSU titles that may serve to
undermine the university's protection of the free
speech rights of all students. First, in the LA Times
article that reported on these titles as "slogans",
the Dean of Students at UCI, Sally Peterson, stated,
in response to the MSU titles: "Hate speech is also
protected speech. There's no law against being a jerk,
basically." Second, on May 13, 2006, at an event
celebrating undergraduate research at UCI, an event
which many of our community members attended, the
Dean of Undergraduate Education, Sharon Salinger,
ended her keynote speech by discussing the news
story about the MSU events, condemning the titles,
and saying that the MSU was "clearly trying to
incite someone." These two statements made by
individual administrators at UCI conflate the MSU
with the titles of these specific events, and, more
importantly, assume that the two titles are hate speech.
The problem here is that the MSU titles, which are
clearly anti-Zionist in nature, are being treated as
though they are anti-Semitic. Once again, it is necessary
for us to underscore that anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism,
and that making such accusations is a way of silencing
legitimate public debate about Israeli state policies.
Another factor in this situation is that over the past
few years, there have been a number of student- organized
events at UCI that included hate speech or vandalism
against the MSU. Two examples are the display of a charred
Israel bus that had been destroyed in a "suicide bombing"
in January 2005 by a Zionist organization, and the more
recent display of the racist Danish cartoons by a Republican
student organization at an event where one of the speakers
referred to Islam as an "evil religion." Again in those
instances, the official response of the university was to
uphold free speech rights. However, similar ad- hoc comments
condemning those events were not made by individual
administrators the way that they have been in the case of
the MSU titles.
To summarize: The administration of UC Irvine, to
its credit, has thus far defended the MSU's right to free
speech. However, a Zionist letter- writing campaign is
underway in an effort to sway the administration, and
several individual administrators on campus have made
statements condemning of the MSU's titles as hate speech
(while continuing to uphold their right to free speech).
We encourage all to take action now to support MSU and
defend the right of free speech! It is imperative that
we act now to counter the Zionist campaign that is currently
working to try to convince the administration that the MSU's
free speech rights should not be upheld in this case.
