[Amazing news from Pakistan and Afghanistan:
Please scroll all the way down.]
Best wishes to Muslim readers of New Trend for Eid al-Adha.
Remember that Ibrahim [pbuh] was willing to sacrifice his
own son Ismail [pbuh] in obedience to the will of Allah.
The Qur'an is asking us: Are we willing to sacrifice our
egos and homegrown prejudices based on ideas of racial,
national, ethnic, family and gender superiority? Look at
the universality of the Hajj, 2 million people from 58
countries, and then look at the clear nationalistic divide
in the mosques of America. Is this divide by mere chance
or is it the work of "Muslim" leaders blindly following
the racist American pattern of "black" churches and
"white" churches? Think about it.
Finally, a clear admission that "Imam" Siraj Wahhaj
did bear witness against Shaikh Omar 'Abdel Rahman,
helping the Jewish judge put him away for life. A close
buddy of ISNA leader Siraj Wahhaj has written a long
letter to New Trend in which he admits what New Trend
has been saying all along, but then he goes on to
justify Siraj's action. It's a weak defense cloaked
in Islamic terminology. We'll bring it to our readers
along with a full analysis after the Eid holidays.

Police Raid on Imam Warith Deen 'Umar's Home
[New Trend Exclusive.]
On January 6, 2006 New York police [NYPD] travelled all
the way to Albany, New York [about 3 hours away] to
attack the home of distinguished Imam Warith Deen Umar
located in the Glenmont area. The Imam's wife and
daughter were at home. [ The younger children were away
at school and the older sons were out of town.] The two
were fasting and relaxed when they heard the banging on the door.
By the time the wife put on her hijab, Bush's
storm troopers had broken the back window. When the
wife opened the door, the police officer told her to
drop her cell phone. She said, "This is my home." The
man replied: "It's not your home any longer."
The daughter asked: "Do you have a search warrant?"
The Bush man replied: "We don't have to show you a search warrant."
The police thugs then brought in two police dogs into the
Muslim home to sniff up the place. The officers turned
the bed in the main room upside down, throwing things
across the room. [The family cats were quickly locked into
the bathroom and thus avoided death at the jaws of the police dogs.]
The police stayed for 5 hours. They took away five computers,
including two belonging to the Imam's sons relating to school work.
Fortunately, the local media arrived and filmed the scene.
Non-Muslim neighbors were extremely helpful and came
to support the family. Some of them are opponents of the war.
[The local police were surprised that NYPD did not care to
inform them. The FBI were there with the NYPD. The excuse
for the raid seems to be allegations of "weapons" and
"explosives" against an Imam who has always helped to
maintain law rather than to break it.]
The attacks against Imam Umar began with a slanderous page
one report in the Wall Street Journal, the flagship of the
Zionist-capitalist establishment. The current attack is
seemingly connected to a Khutba he gave in a Brooklyn
mosque controlled by 'Imam" Siraj Wahhaj. Siraj is keeping
very quiet about how the tape of the Khutba reached the government.

We Condemn Vicious Police Raid on Imam Warith Deen 'Umar's Home.
What Should U.S. Muslims do?
by Kaukab Siddique
Imam Warith Deen 'Umar is a distinguished citizen of the
United States. For decades, he worked for the prison
system in New York, helping prisoners fulfil their
religious rights as ordained by law.
The attack first on his apartment in the Bronx [reported
earlier in New Trend] and now on his home in Albany,
indicates that NOTHING is sacred for the Bush
administration. Bringing DOGS into the home of an
Islamic leader is the ultimate in desecration.
Notice that such atrocities can be perpetrated without
the Patriot Act. The police had a search warrant. It
takes only a couple of hours to get one.
We urge Muslims to unite in support of Imam 'Umar
and to challenge the Zionist-Bush violation of law.
Evidently, HOME, PRIVACY, DECENCY, RULE of LAW mean
nothing to the thugs who rule this country. Under
Zionist-Jewish control, all that is sacred to Muslims is under attack.
We Muslims need to take the following steps:
-
Realize that funded Muslim cliques living comfortably often
with fat salaries, like ISNA-CAIR, ICNA, MAS, MPAC, etc are
not going to stand against the U.S. government. In 99% cases,
they have not helped anyone whom the U.S. was opposing.
CAIR even dumped Sami al-Arian when he was in trouble.
-
Change of leadership is essential. America's Islamic
leaders like Imam Jamil al-Amin and Dr. Omar 'Abdel Rahman
are in prison but even under great pressure they never
sold out. There are people like Imam Musa, Imam Warith
Deen 'Umar, Imam al-'Asi and some others who have
leadership ability and background.
-
In the long term, Muslims of America must sue the
Jewish-Zionist establishment for every cent it has.
All these outrages are coming from the Zionist takeover
of this great country. We must urge mosque builders to
stop their multi-million dollar drives to build dead
buildings. The money should be diverted to fight the
oppressors in the courts and in the media.
-
In the short term, if there is a police attack, my advice
is the same as I gave Imam 'Umar: Call the local media,
call your attorney. Your friends should be ready to do
it if you can't. Mobilize mosque communities, let
everyone know what's going on.
-
Note that at first the government tried to INTIMIDATE
Imam 'Umar. When that failed, the regime then carried
out PROVOCATION by attacking his home. We must reject
both. Remain calm and follow the Sunnah of the
Prophet, pbuh, in Makka.
-
Form independent Islamic organizations. If you don't
know how, invite a representative of
Jamaat al-Muslimeen to advise you.

Why Palestinians Have no Illusions about Sharon and other Israelis.
Imam Badi Ali and Muhammad Wajeh Interviewed by
North Carolina's News Record
On January 7, the News Record published excerpts from an
interview Nancy McLaughlin conducted with Imam Badi Ali,
a prominent Islamic leader in North Carolina and local
community leader Muhammad Wajeh. Ali told her:
"I'm not happy that this is happening to him as a person,
but actually I am pleased this is happening to him as a
man who was responsible for death and misery in the
Middle East, in the entire region," Ali said. "Pat Robertson
said this is a gift from Allah. On this we agree."
"Sharon in the Arab world is equal to Hitler," Ali says.
"Nobody came after Hitler. Nobody will come after Sharon
with that magnitude of destruction. This man is linked
to genocide and things anyone with a human heart would
be incapable of doing."
In response to Jewish claims that Sharon wanted peace
and hence withdrew from Gaza, local Palestinian community
leader Muhammad Wajeh added:
"The people who say that are naive and do not know anything
about the Middle East and the politics of the Middle East,"
Muhammad says. "The Israelis did not withdraw. They left
these territories because they could not handle our
people. He did not do that because he wanted peace. He
did that because the Israeli army could not handle
the people of Gaza."
He then points out what all genuine Muslims and Palestinians feel:
"The only thing I regret is that he's going to die in his bed
and not at the hands of a Palestinian," says Wajeh Muhammad,
a native Palestinian and local leader in the Muslim
community whose family owned land for generations in
territory now controlled by Israel.

Police Kill 12 Tribal People: Protestors Block Highway
[Source: The Hindu newspaper]
[The condition of India's oppressed masses goes totally
unreported in the media because it is a partner of the
U.S. and Israel. We provide a glimpse. Remember that late
last year, Indian police Killed 14 students in Northeast India.]
KALINGA NAGAR (ORISSA): The situation remained tense in
Kalinga Nagar industrial complex in Jajpur district on
Tuesday following the clash between the tribal people
and police in which 12 tribals and one policeman
were killed on January 2.
As the night-long curfew was lifted in the morning,
thousands of angry tribals blocked the Daitari-Paradip
Express Highway near Gobarghati with four bodies,
demanding action against the District Collector and
Superintendent of Police.
The agitated tribals blocked entry into the area from all
sides as the District Collector, Saswat Mishra, and
Superintendent of Police, Vinaytosh Mishra, and a posse
of policemen spent most parts of the day at the local
police station. However, those from the media and
leaders of various political parties, barring the
ruling Biju Janata Dal, were allowed.
Even as the tribals handed over the bodies to the police
later in the day, they continued to block the highway.
"We will continue the blockade till action is taken against
the erring administration and police officials," said
Rajendra Kalundia of the Bisthapan Virodhi Manch, an
organisation of the tribals opposing displacement in the area.
Leaders of several Opposition parties, including the
Orissa Gana Parishad, Communist Party of India
(Marxist), Communist Party of India, Jharkhand
Mukti Morcha, Samajwadi Party and Janata Dal (S),
announced that they would support the Protest Day
agitation called by the Kalinga Nagar
Suraksha Samiti on January 7.

[Please read the following from Indian Express
with great caution. To New Trend, it seems that an
innocent man is being accused as a scapegoat for an
attack in Bangalore on the Indian Institute of Science
[IIS]. 14 Days in Indian Police Custody can break anyone.]
BANGALORE, JANUARY 3: The Bangalore police on Tuesday
announced their first major breakthrough in the
investigations into the December 28 attack on the
Indian Institute of Science by showing the arrest of
a 35-year-old resident of Nalgonda district in Andhra
Pradesh, Abdul Rehman alias Umed alias Mohammed
Raiz-ur Rehman reportedly the head of the south India
operations of the Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Rehman was picked up in Nalgonda on January 1, Bangalore
Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh said without
elaborating on Rehman's role in the December 28 attack
that killed former IIT Delhi professor M C Puri.
Sources said that the arrest has been made on the premise
that Rehman funded and masterminded the IISc attack.
Rehman's passport shows that he has been in Saudi Arabia
for nearly 13 years. The passport also bears immigration
stamps for Bangladesh, sources said.
˜He has been in India since Ramzan. The passport is stamped
for entry at the Hyderabad airport on October 15, 2005,
for his arrival from Riyadh," sources revealed.
During his interrogation over the past few days, Rehman has
said that he has never visited Bangalore. He claims to have
only visited Hyderabad and Chennai on one occasion.
According to sources, Rehman is a follower of the Al Haddees
sect in Islam and was a sort of preacher and a translator
from Arabic to Urdu at an Islamic Study Centre in Saudi
Arabia. Police are trying to follow up on leads on
friends and contacts of Rehman found at his Nalgonda residence.
˜We dont think he was the perpetrator of the attack. His
arrest is in relation to the conspiracy. He amassed a lot
of wealth in Saudi Arabia and was funding organizations
involved in proselytizing for Islam in India. There are
discrepancies in what he is telling us," a senior police official said.
Rehman's family has been living in Nalgonda for several years
and his father is reportedly a retired state government
employee, while three of his brothers run a business in
Nalgonda town, sources said. According to Rehman, he has
visited only Chennai outside of Hyderabad in recent years.
In 2003, he went to Chennai to collect a consignment of
Islamic books in English and Urdu, he has told investigators.
Police officials are expecting to obtain major leads on the
IISc attack through Rehman. They have obtained his custody for 14 days.
Letter:
Re: Christian writer Ms. Carolyn's Warning re:
Government Surveillance of New Trend and Dr. Siddique's Security.
The problem in America never concerned civil rights violations
but human rights violations. Black America has grown more
complacent than ever and that is because our religious
leadership has been very weak! The backbones of Black
America were the church and the mosque.
Now, it's been reported at the Yahoo! Site that the NSA
used "illegal cookies" to track its web site visitors.
This was revealed after the scandal that Pres. Bush II
spied on American organizations such as PETA, for example,
which is an animal rights group! So, I identified with
what Christian activist Sis. Carolyn revealed in New Trend
about the overwhelming forces of evil in America.
Mainstream news reports can easily make one, who is trying
to better her community, question the validity of her
mission. However, we know that the strength of evil-doers
lies in their networking and unity. It's such a powerful
system that no matter who abdicates or takes control its
modus operandi is always the same. Their only objective
seems to be to amass the most wealth at everyone else's
expense. We, good-doers, need to develop our own
networking system for our human rights causes. The
evil-doers' strength is only an illusion, however,
and won't last because Allah is not behind them!
The Holy Qur'an especially, Surah Ya Sin, helps me realize
that our strength comes from our belief in Allah. There
are so many people whose point of views have weakened
with age, prison stints, or a move to a higher income
bracket. I urge Sis. Carolyn to keep in mind that we,
as individuals, are not here to save the world. Sometimes
I lose sight of this. Also, as long as we don't give in
to the amoral, backwards ways of thinking like the
evil-doers then they have not won anything! They only
win when we join them beginning with our thoughts.
Salaam,
Sis. 'Aisha

PAKISTAN: U.S. Bombs Pakistani Village
-
Northern Waziristan: According to local elders, two U.S.
helicopters attacked the home of an Islamic prayer leader,
Haji Noor Muhammad, in the Syed Gai area, 12 km from
Miran Shah. Eight civilians, including a woman and 2
children, were killed, and 7 were severely wounded,
including the Haji. Afghan mercenaries then landed
from the helicopters and kidnapped 5 villagers.
It was 3 AM on January 7.
The Pakistani government [General Sultan] first denied
that any such a thing had happened. There was a hue
and cry from all over the country. The government then
lodged a formal protest, very weak, more like asking
for information, with the U.S. government.
-
Northern Waziristan. A Pakistani military camp on the
Mir Ali Khawer road manned by a border force known as
the Tochi Scouts came under Islamic rocket attack.
Eight Pakistani troops were killed and 13 are missing.
The dead included a captain. The camp was destroyed.
[The night of January 6 and 7.]
-
Southern Waziristan. Following a complete breakdown of
law and order and takeover by extortionist mafias, the
people finally got a reprieve on January 5. Islamic
gunmen killed 7 of the bandits including their
notorious chief Musa Kray Khel
-
Sibi, Baluchistan: January 6. pilotless spy plane,
said to be American, crashed in the Maraghzai area.
The government is refusing to give details. On January 7,
leaders of the Islamic coalition MMA in Quetta once
again called for an end to army action in Baluchistan
and urged the use of the political process to solve
problems in the province.
-
Islamabad: January 7. General Musharraf offered to
JOIN HANDS WITH INDIA in fighting Islamic resistance
in occupied Kashmir if India were to carry out partial
military withdrawals from Srinagar, Kupwara and
Baramula. The General, who works hand-in-glove with
the CIA was being interviewed by CNN and IBNT. He
also put to rest the idea that there are any Islamic
people in the leadership of the Pakistani army. He said,
the military is 100% with him and if any officer had
the slightest reservations about his leadership, the
officer would be dismissed forthwith.
[The interview was reported in part in Nawa-e-Waqt
and other Pakistani papers.]
[India immediately and firmly rejected Musharraf's
proposal. Pakistanis say, Musharraf at least had some
credibility about Kashmir. Even that is now gone.]
AFGHANISTAN
MULLAH OMAR NO LONGER A TERRORIST?
-
Kabul. January 7, 2006. Karzai came out openly and asked
Taliban leader Mullah Omar to talk with him to bring about
"reconciliation." Earlier last year, under American pressure,
Karzai tried to get the Taliban to compromise, by way of a a
Peace Initiative led by Sibghatullah Mujaddadi. The offer
was considered by Mullah Dadullah and Mullah Baradar, two
of Mullah Omar's frontline commanders, and rejected
categorically. The Taliban position is that peace
depends on the withdrawal of U.S. forces of occupation.
[Observers say that the Karzai's offer is a sign of the
weakening American position in Afghanistan. Till 2005,
Karzai was claiming that Mullah Omar is a terrorist. Now
he wants talks. Karzai is still taking the line that
Taliban are so insignificant that there is no harm in
talking to them. The serious contradiction here is that
Karzai's master, Uncle Sam, considers Mullah Omar a
terrorist and has a $25 million bounty on his head.]
[On the ground, observers note, large chunks of southern,
southeastern and southwestern Afghanistan, that is 80%
of Pushtun territory, are now in the control of the
Islamic forces of the Taliban.]
-
January 7, Terin Kot, Oruzgan province. CLOSE SHAVE FOR
U.S. AMBASSADOR. A martyrdom operator attacked a special
gathering being attended by Ronald Newman, U.S. ambassador
to Afghanistan. Owing to extremely heavy security, the
martyr could not reach the ambassador, but 12 Afghan
police mercenaries were killed and 50 wounded. The
panic stricken ambassador left the area by air soon after.
The attack is particularly shocking because the visit
of the U.S. ambassador was top secret and yet the
Taliban knew about it. Terin Kot is nearly 150 miles
from the Pakistan border, with no direct road to it,
so the theory of Taliban crossing over from Pakistan
does not help.
[Readers might remember the attempt on the previous
U.S. ambassador Khalilzad, a CIA-related man, who
was so shaken that he was appointed to Iraq where
he stays carefully within the Green zone.]
IRAQ: Islamic Resistance on the Offensive: Also, Iran's smoke screen.
[The following report from "truthout" uses American
terminology but is quite factual. One caveat: The attack
in Kerbala has not been claimed by any Islamic group. It
looks very suspicious to us and seems meant to feed
Shia-Sunni conflict owing to its random slaughter of
innocent civilians. We have also received an Iraqi
report which indicates that IRAN is actively working
in Iraq to terrorize Sunnis. Under the aegis of the U.S.,
Iraqis trained and armed by Iran are working as death
squads, killing Sunnis every day and dumping their bodies
in the desert. The Iranian rhetoric about Israel, this
report claims, is a smoke screen to cover Iran-U.S.
cooperation both in Iraq and in Afghanustan. -Editor]
Baghdad, Iraq - Twelve Americans were killed when a
UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Iraq early
Sunday, the military said.
The helicopter, which was carrying a crew of four and
eight passengers, was flying between bases in the north
of the country, according to news releases from the U.S. military.
A search-and-rescue team found the crash site about noon (4 a.m. ET).
The military also announced the deaths of five U.S. Marines
in three different Iraqi towns Saturday and Sunday.
Insurgents in Falluja killed three Marines during separate
gunbattles Sunday. Falluja is about 35 miles (56 kilometers)
west of Baghdad in restive Anbar province.
On Saturday, roadside bombs killed two Marines, one near
al-Karma and another near Ferris. Both towns are near Falluja.
Since the war began, 2,198 U.S. service members serving in Iraq have died.
Suicide Bomb Kills 13
At least 13 people, including six Iraqi police commandos,
were wounded when a suicide car bomb exploded Saturday as
a police commando patrol was passing by, police said.
The bomb went off in southeast Baghdad's al-Jadida
neighborhood, authorities said, about 10:15 a.m. (2:15 a.m. ET).
On Friday, military officials revealed that 11 U.S. troops
- eight soldiers and three Marines - were among about 140
people killed in attacks across Iraq Thursday, the
deadliest day in Iraq in nearly four months.
A U.S. soldier and a U.S. Marine were killed in a major
suicide bombing targeting an Iraqi police recruitment
center in Ramadi, the military said Friday. Both were
assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
Their deaths bring the number of people killed in the Ramadi
attack to at least 82, along with about 70 wounded. (More on what happened)
In addition, two U.S. Marines were killed by small arms fire
in separate attacks during combat operations in Falluja,
the military said. The Marines were assigned to Regimental
Combat Team 8, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine
Expeditionary Force (Forward).
Also, a roadside bomb killed two Task Force Baghdad soldiers
on patrol in the Baghdad area of operations, the military
said Friday. That incident was under investigation.
And five other Task Force Baghdad soldiers died in a
separate roadside bombing near Baghdad.
The names of the soldiers and Marines were withheld
pending notification of relatives. Since the war began,
2,193 U.S. troops have died in Iraq.
Thursday's violence also included a suicide bomb attack
in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, where 45 people were
killed and 82 wounded, police and hospital officials
said. The attacker detonated his explosives near two
Shiite shrines, the Imam Hussein and Imam Abbas.
The area has been closed off and police are investigating,
said police spokesman Rahman Mishawi.
Karbala, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Baghdad,
has been relatively free of violence for the past year.
Asked if the attacks were a sign that the December
elections had failed to diminish the insurgency in
Iraq, Gen. Peter Pace said the opposite was true.
Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said
that with each of the country's three elections, voter
turnout increased, indicating that "the terrorists failed
at each of their primary missions of stopping the vote."
"What's clear to me is that each of the elections has
been a major blow to al Qaeda," Pace said at a Pentagon
news conference Thursday. "I think what you're seeing
now is a continuing attempt to disrupt the proper
formation of the Iraqi government, and I'm confident they will fail."
